The CEO wept

Book:Exclusively The CEO's Published:2024-6-2

Before one could say jack, Minister Lee was already in midair with the CEO’s right hand wrapped around his neck.
Without a warning, the CEO threw the minister away.
Minister Lee flew across the room and his head hit the wall as he landed on the floor.
Seething with anger, Joel walked over to where Lee had landed and without a word, he grabbed him roughly by his collars and pulled him up to face him.
Groaning in pain, Minister Lee stared at the man before him and he almost peed on his body at the sight he saw.
“You! You had the guts to abduct my wife! You are done for!” Joel forced out between clenched teeth.
Minister Lee broke into cold sweats after her heard the CEO’s words, he couldn’t help but pee on his body. He knew he was truly done for.
Furiously, the CEO sent eighteen rapid punches to Minister Lee’s face and then finished him off with double kicks, one on his stomach and the other on his face.
Blood gushed out of Minister Lee’s mouth as he fell to the ground.
Without giving him a last look, Joel walked away from Minister Lee and turned towards the bed.
He stopped in his tracks as soon as he spotted the lifeless body on the body. Nervously, he stared at her for a while.
He blinked his eyes, fighting back the tears that was pleading to be let out.
After a while, slowly, he dragged his legs towards the bed and ran the tips of his fingers around Emily’s face.
“I’m sorry.” He pleaded as a tear escaped from his eye.
Weak, Emily stared at him for a short while, and slowly, and her eyes slid close.
Hastily, Joel wrapped the bedsheet over her body, carried her in his arms and rushed out of the room.

Joel sped up the car as he drove into EWH. He had sent Stone out of the car and driven Emily to the hospital himself.
Parking the car right in front of the door that led into the hospital; hastily, Joel rushed out of the car, carried Emily and rushed into the hospital.
Stone had driven Emily’s car to the hospital and as soon as he had arrived at the hospital, he trailed quickly after his boss.
Joel didn’t hand his wife over to anyone and he didn’t stop walking until he was in the elevator that led to the first floor where his personal VIP ward was with Stone standing right behind him.
As soon as the elevator got to the top floor, Joel walked briskly into the ward and placed Emily gently on the bed.
Mr Clinton and three other doctors were already waiting for The CEO and as soon as he had placed the familiar lady on the bed, Mr Clinton and the rest got to work while Joel stood, his hands wrapped tightly on Emily’s hand, watching the doctors clean her face up.
As soon as Mr Clinton was done cleaning the lady’s face up, he put her on drip so that the drug in her system can be washed away.
Mr Clinton stared at The CEO’s hands that were wrapped on the lady’s hand and let out a brief smile. He was now sure that The CEO had finally found true love. Stone and the doctors walked out of the ward, leaving Joel with the lady.
Joel didn’t know whether to curse himself or run mad as he stared at Emily’s swollen face. He couldn’t help the tear that streamed down his face. It was all his fault.
He shouldn’t have tried using Emily as a bait. If he hadn’t, she wouldn’t have left her seat and none of these would have happened. He thought.
“Mianae” He sobbed silently.
The all-powerful CEO had never ever cried since he became a grown-up, but all he could think of right now was what would have happened if he had gotten to the hotel room a bit later.
What would he have done if Emily had died as a result of that? He would have ran mad.
Joel swallowed the lump in his throat at the thought of Emily dying.

Michael heaved a sigh of relief as he watched his wife fall into deep slumber. He had been the first to get to the hospital as he had driven Evelyn there to get treatment.
His personal VIP ward was opposite Joel’s. The top floor was for the Manchesters alone.
He smiled at the thought of Andrew meeting his mother again after a long time. Their son would be very happy to have his mother back like he was to have his wife.
He would never ever let her leave his sight again, not even for a second. Michael heaved out a gusty sigh as he watched his wife sleep peacefully. He was sure this was the first time in a very long time that she had slept like that.

As the sun set to rose the next morning, Emily tried to stifle a yawn immediately she came around.
“Deo, gwenchana?” Joel asked, using his index finger to tuck the strands of hair that had fallen over Emily’s face behind his ear.
Emily squinted her eyes as she balanced her eyesight with the light in the ward. Looking up at Joel, she nodded her head.
Joel had stood by her side throughout the night till the next morning, his hands clasped around her right hand.
Joel let out a stiff smile and nodded his head.
“Err, do you feel pains anywhere?” He asked as silently as he could.
Emily shook her head lightly.
He nodded his head and heaved out a sigh of relief.
He was caught off guard last night and the event still had a negative effect on him.
“Hmnn.” Emily grunted as she made to prop herself up to rest her back against the wall.
“Deo, do you know what you look like right now?” Emily asked as she stared at Joel.
“You look like a piece of shit.” She finished her sentence with a chuckle.
Joel let out a small smile and ruffled Emily’s hair.
“I’ll make him pay for everything he did to you.” Joel mumbled, sitting on the edge of the hospital bed.
Emily nodded her head slightly as she as last night’s event flashed through her eyes.
“I want to sleep.” She said as she made to lie on the bed.
Joel stood up on his feet and helped her down.
Emily hadn’t fully recovered and she was still very weak. He knew this, and he wouldn’t mind her sleeping throughout the day.

Emily didn’t wake up until late at night. She stretched, muffling a yawn.
“Awww, ya. Why do you look so cute even when yawning?” Joel asked teasingly.
Hearing that, Emily clasped her hand over her mouth, giggling deeply.
She pouted her lips as she stared at Joel who was now sitting in the armchair next to the hospital bed.
She looked down at her stomach, rubbed her hand on it and looked up at Joel. “Yah… I’m hungry.”
“Ah. What do you want to eat?” Joel asked.
“Hmmm… I don’t know.” Emily replied, pouting.
Joel furrowed his brows for a second and picked up the receiver of the telephone that was placed on the small cabinet on his right.
He picked up the receiver, punched on few buttons and placed the receiver on his ear.
“She’ll be going home tonight. Always drop by every morning to have a check up done on her.” He spoke into the receiver.
Whether Doctor Clinton replied or not, the CEO was not able to know and didn’t want to know as he replaced the receiver immediately after he was done talking.
Looking up at Emily, Joel pointed at a door on the left side of the ward. “That’s the restroom, go get dressed.”
Emily stared at the direction of the door and scrunched up her face. bIf she had known there was a restroom, she would have used it the day Joel saw her dressing up in the ward.
“Wae? Why are you frowning, what are you thinking about?” Joel asked with a raised brow.
“Ani. It’s nothing.” Emily shook her head, shaking off the thought on her mind.
She got off the bed, picked the clothes Joel had ordered a maid to bring for her during the day and headed to the restroom.
Few minutes later, she was out of the restroom.
“I’m through.” She said, fiddling the hem of the short flare dress she was wearing.
Joel turned to look at her and smiled. Even though she was simply dressed and looked sick, with a bandaid on the left corner of her mouth and her right cheek, she still looked beautifully enticing.
He stood up on his feet and took his suit from the arm of the chair. “Kaja.”
