Book:Hundred Shades Of Love Published:2024-6-2

Lindsey sighed anguishedly pressing the doorbell for the hundredth time but she didn’t receive any response from anyone. “I think you should call, maybe he or she stepped out,” Joyce said not sure of the gender of who she was looking for. Lindsey sighed, she would have called but Leen stopped picking up her calls and she can’t just wrap her head around what was going on.
She made to press the doorbell again but a voice stopped her “Do you need anything,” Lindsey turned only to see a blonde young girl. She was putting on a blue pair of jeans and a sweet top which matched her crop and then she had a grocery bag in her hand. Lindsey blinked her eyes flashing her a smile, she didn’t look familiar to her and she knew all of Leen’s siblings and most of her cousins.
“Erm, I’m here to see Leen,” Lindsey said with a smile plastered on her face. “Leen? Who is she?” The blonde lady asked making Joyce and Lindsey glance at each other and back at the blonde lady. “Leen, she Leaves in this apartment,” Lindsey asked putting at the apartment. The blonde lady stared at the both of them and then walked towards the door, she inputted the door code and the door cracked open. “As you can see, there is no Leen here,” she said looking at Lindsey. Lindsey smiled “You must be one of her cousins, I’m Lindsey her best friend and I have visited her here a couple of times and_”
“I think she moved out and I don’t have any Leen as a cousin,” The blonde lady blurted making Lindsey stare at her. “What did you say?” To say that Lindsey was stunned would be an understatement, she was far ahead of stunned, she was angry, sad, rejected and felt a strong pain in her heart. When she moved out from her old apartment into the new one, she told Leen, in fact, she even helped her in moving out and they threw their first party together but now, Leen moved out of her house and cut every means of communication between them.
“I moved in a month ago and there is no Leen leaving on this premises, maybe you should call her,” The girl said staring from Lindsey to Joyce wondering. A tear dropped from Lindsey’s eyes and she fought hard to hide it from Joyce and the blonde lady but she wasn’t fast enough as they already saw her. “You can see the landlady if you have any other problem, I’m sure she would have her contact number or address,” The blonde lady suggested. Lindsey nodded her head and walked away. “Where can we find the Landlady?” Joyce asked staring at the blonde lady. “She owns the department store down the road, you would be able to find her there,” The blonde lady said. Joyce nodded her head and mouthed a “thank you,” before running off to get to Lindsey.
“What are we going to do now,” Joyce asked. She didn’t know what was going on but from all she has heard and seen, she knew that it must be serious. Lindsey didn’t say a word to her as she bent her head over the car with her eyes closed. A few minutes later, she opened the and stared at Joyce, her eyes were red and there was no way to deny the fact that she cried.
“Do you know where the landlady is?” Lindsey asked. “Yes, she said the landlady owns the department store down the road,” Joyce said nodding her head. Joyce didn’t even complete her sentence before Lindsey jerked the car door open and got in, Joyce did the same hurriedly and in less than twenty minutes, they were already standing in front of a middle-aged Chinese woman, lady Helga who Lindsey was familiar with, she had seen her a couple of times during her visits to Leen house.
Lady Helga gave Lindsey a long state after she narrated her ordeal to her. “I don’t know what’s going on here, but after your wedding, Leen spent some days at the police custody, I heard she was charged with some crimes and later acquitted but I never saw her,” Lady Helga said. Lindsey was confused, “was Leen angry with her because of the arrest or was there more to it?” She thought but no matter how hard she thinks, the answer appeared to be very far from her. “Then who moved her things, I meet a blonde lady in her apartment and she said she moved in a month ago,” Lindsey asked. “Oh Leen, she sent some men to pack her things and when I asked where she was moving to, they refuse to tell me, the police were there so I couldn’t do much myself, after they left I called her number but there was no response,” Lady Helga replied with all sincerity.
Lindsey sighed, everything was just a puzzle and she was damn terrible at solving puzzles. “Thanks, please tell me if you get any information about her,” Lindsey said. “I will do that,” Lady Helga said. With that, the conversation ended and Joyce and Lindsey left the store and headed back to Keith’s Villa. Lindsey thought of calling Georgina and asking her if she knew about Leen’s whereabouts but then she decided it was better to speak to her face to face than have the discussion with her over the phone.
Hours Later,
The sun already paved way for the Moon to rule the night, it was twenty minutes gone past the hour of ten in the night and Lindsey could be seen seated on the couch and a duvet over her as she watched her favourite romance TV series while she waits for Keith to return.
Minutes later, she heard the sound of a car driving into the villa, and she guessed it must be Keith or maybe Audrey since she now walks into the villa whenever she likes. a few minutes later, the door swung open and Keith walked in holding his briefcase firmly. Lindsey gave him a warm smile and said. “You are back, I have been waiting for you, I made dinner,” She was expecting a warm reply and never imagined that Keith would walk out on her after throwing her some scary stares. “What’s up with the attitude?” Lindsey muttered staring at him as she climbed the stairs obviously heading to his room.
Keith, after the day’s stressful work, forgot everything that Audrey told him earlier that day but immediately he walked into the villa and saw Lindsey, all that Audrey said began to play in his head as if he was hearing it directly from her at that moment. Keith became sad, despite being hungry and wouldn’t mind eating Lindsey’s food but he was too angry to think about it. Lindsey wasn’t someone he could trust, to Keith, Lindsey had a money-oriented heart and mind and would do anything as long as she gets her own fair cut of the deal, that was the main reason she agreed to this dumb contract marriage.
He slumped into the sofa, thinking of the next action to take, “If what Audrey said was true then it was close to impossible that he would beat his mother to the game, Georgina was a pro at such kind of game and an amateur like himself wouldn’t even dare to go into the game” Keith said acknowledging Georgina’s abilities. Keith recalled something and immediately called Audrey, it didn’t take long for her to pick up. “Hi, Lover boy,” Audrey said with a soft calm voice. “Isn’t your husband around?” Keith asked wondering why he was addressing him as such, she haven’t finalized her divorce with her husband so she should be careful not to let him know about their affairs. “Oh, the log is sleeping, he kept shouting when my lawyer brought the updated divorce document to his office and added some things to his drink,” Audrey said. Keith mouthed an “okay” wondering why he would still take a drink from her when it was clear they weren’t in good terms. “I’m moving out once I get accommodation in your estate, the rental company is working towards it,” Audrey added. “Okay, about what you said today about Georgina and_” Keith couldn’t complete his sentence before Audrey cut it short excitedly.
“I knew you would come back to your senses, I mean I fell madly in love with a smart man,” Audrey complimented sitting down, she was outside her husband’s mansion receiving some fresh air. She took a quick sip of her orange juice before she continued. “It’s very easy what we are going to do and the good thing is, no one is going to know it’s us because we won’t be the ones doing it. Keith lowered his phone to stare at Audrey’s contact name which was saved with “likewise”. “Are you okay? I’m not killing my mother and even though I don’t love Lindsey but I won’t still kill her,” Keith said after he placed the phone back into his ears. “Tteks, I’m not asking you to kill anyone, we are not going to kill anyone, and no one is going to die so just calm down and listen to what I have to say,” Audrey said. “Okay, as long as it doesn’t involve killing someone,” Keith said. Audrey scoffed, Keith was so scared of blood right from childhood and he always freaks out whenever he sees blood, everyone had thought he would stop being scared of blood when he grows up but it appears that Keith was still very much scared of blood. Keith listened with keen interest as Audrey mapped out the plan which seems to be the very perfect harmless plan.
