Lindsey mumbled in her sleep before letting out a yawn while stretching her body. She hissed removing the blue blindfold from her eyes and opening her eyes gently she allowed the morning sun to shine into her eyes. “Gosh, why did I wake up so early?” Lindsey snarled looking at the time. She had slept off the previous day earlier than usual since she didn’t have anywhere to go and couldn’t find Keith. She got up and walked tiredly to the lounge, her face frowned when she didn’t meet Keith there. “Did he leave early?” Lindsey asked looking around the lounge which didn’t look as if someone had slept there the previous night. She heard her phone ringing from the bedroom and rushed back to the bedroom, “How are you enjoying your honeymoon?” Lindsey rolled her eyes hearing Angela’s voice, she had picked up the call in a hurry and didn’t check the caller ID.
“You are calling me too frequently these days unlike usual, you know when you could go a whole year without speaking to me,” Lindsey said and Angela smirked “Aish, you ungrateful child, answer my question will I be a grandmother come next year?” Angela asked again looking at Georgina who was in the room with her. Lindsey scoffed without saying anything, “Hi, Lindsey are you still there?” Angela asked and Lindsey inhaled deeply “Yes” she simply said.
“So answer my question,” Angela began adjusting on her seat. “Lindsey darling I know quite well that you are in a contract marriage with Keith but having a baby is going to be a plus to your own end,” Angela said but all she heard was a beep sound signifying that the call already ended. She tried calling Lindsey again but it wasn’t connecting. “Just let her be, for now,” Georgina said stopping Angela from redialling Lindsey’s number. “We can’t force her to have a baby yet, we still have three years and hopefully it’s going to happen before then” Georgina added staring into thin air. Angela exhaled feeling dejected, she looked from Georgina to her phone staring at Lindsey’s phone number. “Why won’t she just listen,” Angela thought with a frown plastered on her face
Lindsey sat down after blocking Angel’s number, she wasn’t in the mood to listen to her crap this morning “A baby?” Lindsey scoffed and then burst into laughter which gradually drifted away into a worried look. Angela’s call just reminded her of her one-night stand with Dr. Williams, a total stranger who she didn’t even know how to contact if she happens to be pregnant. She felt nervous thinking about everything but then she decided to close her eyes breathing in and out after a couple of minutes she calmed her nerves down.
She glanced at the time and decided to call Keith, she wasn’t going to let him know she was worried instead she was just returning the call she had missed early in the day. Keith didn’t pick up until the fourth ring, he had a frown plastered on his sleepy face when he saw Lindsey’s name written on the caller ID. “What” Keith snapped at her. Lindsey shut her mouth close, she had wanted to say something before she heard Keith’s rude voice but there was something off about his voice, it sounded like someone who was sleeping. “Are you sleeping?” Lindsey raised a brow wondering why he would be sleeping outside their suite.
Keith glanced at Audrey who was sleeping comfortably beside him, he kissed her gently on her forehead before getting off the bed. “Yes, why?” He said walking out of the room, he knew how loud Lindsey could be and he didn’t want to wake Audrey up, she must be tired and exhausted from the trip and everything.
“Why!?” Keith removed his phone from his ear because of Lindsey’s loud voice “Are you seriously asking me that? why would you be sleeping outside the suite? Don’t tell me you are sleeping in Audrey’s suite!” Lindsey yelled. She frowned when she heard Keith chuckle “It’s past midnight Lindsey stop disturbing me,” Keith said, he didn’t know how to tell her he was no longer in Paris so he decided to use the time difference “Midnight?” Lindsey lowered her phone to check the time but it was past six in the morning. “Are you drunk, it’s six_”
“No actually I’m in New York City, I had an important business to attend to that was why I called you earlier,” Keith said cutting her words short. Lindsey blinked unable to believe her ears. “Was Keith playing tricks on her now?” She couldn’t help but wonder. “What did you say?” Lindsey yelled and began to pace around the room. Keith smiled then continued “You can decide to continue with the honeymoon or come back home but I can’t come to Paris, I have a lot to take care of here”.
Lindsey let out a laugh which sounded weird to Keith, which woman would laugh after being abandoned by her husband?. The laugh stopped and Lindsey kept mute, she knew Keith was very much scared of his mother and grandfather and they were the only ones who could bring him to his kneel. “Once I end this call with, I’m calling your mother” Lindsey threatened but all she heard was a scoff from Keith “You wouldn’t want to play that card with me Ms. Roach” Keith paused for a while as if giving her the time to articulate his first sentence. “That’s going to be the end of this so-called marriage, I don’t need to tell you the number of reporters I have their contact numbers in my list and you should know that none of them would decline the offer to publish our divorce story, it’s a worthwhile news that can break the internet,” Keith said.
Lindsey closed her eyes briefly and opened them immediately. “I will send you some money to continue your honeymoon trip,” Keith said and ended the call even before Lindsey could say anything. He smirked after sending some money before he walked back into the room only to met Audrey awake. “Was that Lindsey?” Audrey asked immediately she saw Keith walk into the room. Keith nodded his head murmuring a yes “But you don’t have to worry about that, I already sorted it out” Keith said lying down beside her. “I’m not bothered, she should be the one bothered,” Audrey said smiling. Keith kissed her before they went back to sleep.
Lindsey stared at her phone stunned, yes she knew she was in a contract marriage with Keith but his words were rather too mean and harsh. “what does he think she is?, Do he really think I’m enjoying this marriage?” Lindsey asked aloud angrily. She stared at the empty room and made up her mind at the spot. She let out a half smile as she pictures the almost perfect plan she had made for herself. She was going to spend at least one more week in Paris, visiting places and having lots of fun, who knows when next she would get such a free holiday.
She dropped her phone and walked into the bathroom to have a hot bath. An hour later, Lindsey stepped out of her hotel room looking lavishly hot and everyone that walked passed her looked at her twice or even more to admire her. “Hi, my husband already signed out of the hotel so I would be using the room alone understand,” Lindsey said to the hotel receptionist. “Okay, but ma’am should I go ahead and conceal the reservation you both had together just like your husband ordered?” She asked politely. Lindsey stared at her a little bit confused, “what reservation?” She asked. Keith never told her about any reservation and from the very first day they came for their honeymoon they have been going from the beach to the restaurant and every other place inside the hotel, basically places she had to drag him to, since he wss never in the mood to go anywhere. “Chairman Winslow had a list of fantastic places he wanted you and your husband to visit during your stay in Paris but your husband seems not to be interested in any of that,” She said politely handing Lindsey over the list.
Lindsey scoffed staring at the list, reading every part of it, some of the events already ended while some still had current dates. “Don’t cancel it” Lindsey said looking up at the lady. “I will take it,” she added. The lady smiled at her without saying anything. “I would hold unto this copy,” Lindsey said. “Okay ma’am, enjoy the rest of your day and don’t forget to attend the wine event, red carpet starts by 6pm while the main event starts by 8pm, the hotel will send you a reminder notification,” She said with a warm smile plastered on her face.
Lindsey looked into the list in her head, it was the first event she had to attend from the events that were still valid. She looked up at her and smiled. “Thank you,” she said and walked out of the hotel.
