Aimee didn’t collect the medicinal solution until noon the following day, carefully placing it in the refrigerator.
This time, the liquid medicine needed to be frozen for a longer period, a full thirty-six hours.
Aimee calculated the time and realized that tomorrow morning, she would be able to visit Patrick’s room and administer the medicine.
After organizing the remaining refined medicine, Aimee stepped out of the room, stifling a yawn.
Camdyn had been patiently waiting for her, hoping someone would wake her up for dinner. He was unaware of what Aimee had been up to last night. After all, Aimee wasn’t in any particular situation, and she wasn’t one to stay in bed.
Upon seeing Aimee emerge from the room, Camdyn asked, “Aimee, are you hungry? I had Riley prepare something for you. Go ahead and have a meal.”
“Thank you, Grandpa,” Aimee replied gratefully, her stomach rumbling with hunger.
Extracting the medicinal liquid had consumed a significant amount of energy, leaving her physically and mentally exhausted. All she wanted now was to eat and then get some sleep.
Camdyn studied her fatigued face, concerned. “Aimee, what’s the matter? You look worn out.”
“Grandpa, I stayed up late last night working on some paperwork. I’m just a bit tired,” Aimee casually lied.
After all, she had promised Colby to prepare the papers. She had selected a few that were easy to understand, planning to show them to Colby later. If Camdyn wanted to read them, she could show them to him directly.
Camdyn had no interest in reading her thesis, but upon hearing that she had stayed up late working on it, he felt a pang of sympathy. “It’s good for young people to work hard, but, Aimee, you should also prioritize rest and not let your body suffer.”
Aimee nodded, feeling touched by his concern.
She was genuinely grateful to this old man.
It was his care that touched her deeply.
After eating, Aimee returned to her room.
However, she couldn’t sleep just yet.
There was still time for her to check her mobile phone and see Mr. Smith’s reply.
And, since she hadn’t responded for a while, Mr. Smith had sent several anxious messages, inquiring about her plans.
Aimee swiftly tapped on her phone and sent Mr. Smith the plan she had devised earlier.
Now that Mr. Smith had agreed to her request, the next steps would be simple.
After replying to Mr. Smith, she messaged Matilda.
Lasnain’s affair naturally fell into Matilda’s hands.
Matilda had been waiting at the Wells family precisely for Aimee’s instructions.
Now, with Aimee’s command, Matilda sprang into action.
Aimee didn’t concern herself with the rest.
She was no longer in a position to handle so much.
Otherwise, there was a high chance that the opposing forces would track her down, given the signals. All her efforts to hide for so long would be in vain.
Aimee powered off her mobile phone, slipped under the covers, and prepared to sleep first.
When Aimee woke up, it was already dark outside.
Her sleep was interrupted by the ringing of her mobile phone. Aimee reached out and saw that the caller was Francis.
He should have been busy filming at this time. Why would he suddenly call her?
Aimee furrowed her brows but decided to answer the call.
As soon as the call connected, Aimee heard Francis’ distressed voice, “When can I get rid of Jaylah? She’s causing trouble with the crew every day, even though she’s not very competent. I’m exhausted.”
Aimee knew without asking what Jaylah had done to irritate Francis.
She remained silent for a moment, then replied, “Just wait a little longer. It’s not the right time yet.”
“Please, princess, please make arrangements for her to leave. I’ve had enough. I don’t want to shoot another scene with her,” Francis pleaded angrily.
Aimee found his frustration amusing.
“Don’t be so upset. I’ll handle it soon. Just be patient,” she reassured him.
“Okay, I’ll wait for your update. Don’t deceive me,” Francis said.
Aimee acknowledged his words and ended the call.
Immediately, she dialed Averi’s number. “The land in Barden will be auctioned next week. Try to ensure that the Read family acquires it.”
“Yes,” Averi replied, her voice filled with excitement she couldn’t hide. “You finally want the Read family to make a move.”
“Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted?” Aimee chuckled. This woman had teased her more than twice.
“I was worried you’d be too soft-hearted,” Averi said.
Aimee didn’t say much because Averi wasn’t entirely wrong. She did tend to give people that impression.
Smiling, Aimee replied, “Don’t worry. That won’t happen this time. Get this done and don’t give them a chance to come back.”
“Don’t worry about that,” Averi assured her. “You can trust me to handle the work.”
And indeed, Aimee had always placed her trust in her two capable subordinates.
Before ending the call, Aimee remembered one more thing and asked, “Did you mention before that Jaylah wanted to borrow jewelry?”
“Yes, but we thought she wasn’t worthy, so we turned her down,” Averi replied.
The store’s jewelry was too precious for someone like Jaylah.
After pondering for a moment, Aimee said, “Find an opportunity to let her know. This time, she can borrow it.”
“Are you really going to do that?” Averi sounded unhappy, as if Jaylah’s touch had somehow tarnished their entire brand.
Aimee explained, “Of course, it won’t actually be a loan. Let someone else lend it to her.”
Averi quickly caught on to Aimee’s plan.
She laughed and said bluntly, “You’re still wicked, aren’t you?”
Aimee took it as a compliment, added a few more explanations, and ended the call.
She found herself somewhat speechless. She had to go through all this trouble to help Francis get rid of Jaylah.
However, this time, she was going to directly implicate the Read family, so she needed to put in more effort.
She was curious to see how Mason would handle the mess caused by his precious second granddaughter.
After dealing with these matters, Aimee was in a good mood.
So, she headed to Patrick’s room.
Patrick was puzzled as to why she hadn’t visited for two nights, but now, Aimee appeared at an unexpected time, making him even more perplexed.
What was this woman up to?
