Aimee sat on the sofa in the inner room, patiently awaiting Averi’s return with the requested item.
Upon their arrival, she had promptly handed over the gem to Averi, instructing her to retrieve it discreetly.
After a while, the stalker also entered the inner room and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Aimee comfortably seated on the sofa, engrossed in flipping through a photo album.
Although Trace had cautioned him to tail Aimee without being detected and uncover her intentions, he needed to figure out what she was up to.
Earlier, he had suspected that Aimee had slipped out through the back door. However, their team had checked the area to no avail.
Now, witnessing Aimee sitting here without a care, he finally had an explanation.
Nevertheless, he couldn’t comprehend why Aimee would come out to purchase jewelry at night. It seemed highly peculiar.
Moreover, they were well aware of Aimee’s circumstances within the Read family.
The jewelry in this store was far from affordable. Aimee venturing here to select jewelry appeared to be a stretch.
The stalker inadvertently cast several more glances at Aimee, his mind unable to help but wander.
Could it be that Camdyn had given Aimee a substantial sum of money, intending for her to take good care of Patrick and support their future household and children?
However, Aimee was seemingly squandering the money on items she could never have afforded before.
As the stalker entertained such thoughts, his expression grew increasingly uneasy.
His behavior caught the attention of the salesclerk attending to him, and she inquired anxiously, “Is something the matter, sir? Are you dissatisfied with our album?”
The stalker withdrew his gaze, flicked through the album a couple more times, and replied, “My girlfriend has very discerning taste, and the options you’ve shown me are too ordinary.”
“I see, sir. Please wait a moment. We have other choices available. However, could you kindly inform me of your price range first?” the polite clerk asked.
The stalker responded casually, “I already mentioned that money is no issue for me. Just bring out the best you have, and don’t concern yourself with anything else. I have plenty of money.”
The clerk found herself at a loss with customers who failed to clearly state their preferences or limitations.
She acknowledged his response and retreated to the inner room without further ado.
Left in the room were Aimee and the stalker.
Aimee observed the stalker from the corner of her eye, intrigued by the fact that even though he had been discovered, he remained oblivious to it.
After a brief moment of contemplation, she discreetly retrieved her phone and sent a message to Averi, “Give him Book A.”
Since he had confidently claimed to have abundant funds, if she didn’t allow him to spend freely, he probably wouldn’t grasp the true meaning of cruelty.
Averi swiftly arrived with the picture book, personally attending to the cute stalker.
The stalker’s eyes widened upon seeing Averi.
In that instant, all recollection of his initial purpose evaporated. He wished his eyes would stay fixed on Averi’s captivating presence.
Averi was accustomed to such attention and didn’t pay it any mind. She proceeded to guide the stalker through the album’s contents, her voice gentle and soothing, a stark contrast to her demeanor.
Aimee observed the stalker’s unreliable behavior with an amused expression. She couldn’t fathom what use Patrick had for him. He seemed so unreliable and easily distracted.
Averi concluded her introduction of the jewelry and asked softly, “Which one is your favorite? Would you like to place an order now?”
The stalker snapped back to reality, looked at the showcased item, and considered his wallet, realizing it might not be an issue after all.
He replied, “Then this one. It’s quite beautiful.”
Averi responded gently, “Alright, we’ll place an order for you. However, the production process for this model is quite intricate. It involves several complex steps, so there will be a significant waiting period. I just want to confirm that you’re comfortable with that, sir.”
“No problem,” the stalker generously replied.
Averi acknowledged his response, then called over the previous clerk to assist the stalker with the necessary formalities.
Once the stalker left, Averi shook her head helplessly while looking at Aimee.
She went back inside to retrieve what Aimee had requested.
The box was a simple blue velvet one. When opened, a delicate diamond necklace was revealed. Nestled within the inner compartment was exactly what Aimee desired.
Aimee smiled at Averi and expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you.”
Averi gazed at Aimee and couldn’t hold back her curiosity any longer. She asked, “Should I address you as Miss Read or Mrs. Hayden from now on?”
Aimee, who was getting up, almost stumbled back onto the sofa upon hearing the question.
Glancing at Averi, Aimee replied, “Did you learn that from Matilda? Now you’re teasing me with her.”
“I didn’t learn it from her. It’s just a common dilemma everyone faces,” Averi explained.
Aimee was on the verge of laughter and exasperation. It seemed that she had been too accommodating with these individuals, and they were all taking turns teasing her.
“Nothing needs to change,” Aimee asserted.
In her mind, she contemplated divorcing Patrick in the near future.
At least, that was what Patrick had insinuated.
Whenever Aimee thought about what Patrick had said, her eyes filled with sadness.
Witnessing this, Averi refrained from further discussion and respectfully saw Aimee off.
The stalker had returned to his car and resumed tailing Aimee.
Aimee felt helpless but didn’t take any action against him.
Earlier, she had instructed the Hayden family driver to wait for her at the entrance, so she simply got into the car and headed home.
Aimee’s itinerary had been reported to Patrick.
However, upon reading the message, Patrick’s eyes grew cloudier.
Aimee wasn’t a woman inclined toward extravagance and vanity, as evidenced by her modest daily expenses.
After all, she was still the kind of woman who would go to the supermarket to buy chicken.
Given her nature, it was simply unbelievable that she would spend money at an exorbitantly priced jewelry store.
