“This is exactly how I imagined your room would look like.” Ace nodded as Penelope opened the door to her room and stepped in.
After their big afternoon lunch, Penelope had decided they would ‘digest’ their lunch better if they just lazed around in her room.
After all, they had eaten a little too much for their sake. Walking around only made it worse.
“If you thought I was so much of a tomboy, you were completely wrong.” She chuckled as he threw himself on the beanbag by the large windows.
“Actually you are the most girlish girl I have ever met. Aside from the girl Cole stole from me.” He chuckled as he leaned into the beanbag and shut his eyes. Feeling his muscles sink into it entirely. “Gosh this baggy chair is so relaxing. I might end up being addicted to it.” He said as Penelope furrowed her brows as she sat down on the bed, staring at him intently with a shocked gaze.
After hardly hearing something from her, or even an insulting comment or saying she doesn’t want him taking the chair all to himself. He opened his eyes and searched the room until his eyes dropped on her slightly confused gaze.
“Are you okay?” He asked as he furrowed her brows while she glanced down to her hands instead.
“You just reminded me of someone.” She chuckled as she glanced at him, smiling weakly. “That someone loved that beanbag a lot.”
“Well that someone has good taste.” He smiled and shut his eyes again. “I think I’ll fall asleep now. You had your relaxation while I worked my butt off. I deserve this, so don’t you dare wake me up.”
“I wasn’t planning to.” She chuckled and smiled as she stared at him. “I’ll try to be quiet.”
“It’s the least you could do.” He smirked but kept his eyes shut. “Anyway. Shut up or else I won’t get any sleep.”
“Okay.” She chuckled once more before turning to the desk with her laptop wide open. She sat down and plugged in her headphones, instantly putting on a movie she had yet to finish.
An hour later.
She sighed out in exasperation as the movie ended with what she didn’t expect, an ending she hated on a personal level.
Her eyes farted across the room as she turned her swivel chair around, only to land her gaze on Ace who was fast and deep in sleep in the beanbag. She stared at him for a moment before getting up from her chair and headed over to the fan standing idly close to her bed. She gently and quietly lifted it off the ground and walked towards him, placing it down. Her eyes landed back on Ace and noticed his melting skin from the intense heat. She reached out and twisted the knob, turning the fan on the lowest cycle, careful enough not to wake him up.
She watched as his hair moved slightly with the slight breeze.
Her eyes shifted from him in an instant and glanced at the dresser and to the specific drawer she had placed a lock on. A drawer she had never opened for a long time.
She quietly walked to it and opened it ever so slightly, reaching in and feeling her fingers around the base until she felt the hard edges of the picture frame she was looking for. She fished it out and sat on her folded knees at the base of the drawer, staring right at the eyes of Victor in her picture.
Her heart this the moment she stared into his deep brown eyes staring back at her. His wide smile stretched out to the his ears as she had her arms wrapped around his neck and her lips pressed against his cheek while he took the picture. A smile she missed staring at for a long time.
The scar from the stab wound he left her just on her lower waist was still there and clearly visible, even from a distance, just a daily reminder her love for him was only temporary…. But she still loved him deeply.
She bit onto her lower lip as her fingers carefully stroked the edges of the photo while her eyes soaked from the tears.
She brought the picture to her chest and got up from her knees. She crawled onto the bed and curled into a ball, bringing her knees to her chest as she lay on the bed, letting her tears soaked her pillow slowly.
Pressing her lips together, she tried to muffle her voice as she sobbed slightly, hugging the picture to her chest ever so tightly as she cried out, feeling the endless ache in her chest.
“I wish you could tell me everything.” Ace’s voice slipped into her ears. She quickly ran her hand across her face and sat up but still faced away from him.
“What are you talking about?” She forced a laugh and tried to wipe off her tears as much as it could, but they kept on coming.
“Don’t forget, I’m the hug you’ve been looking for.” Ace frowned as he stared at her back. “You’re always the chilled and cheerful person that annoys the heck out of many of us. So seeing you like this is very uncomfortable for me. I’d rather be annoyed with you always insulting me than being annoyed with you refusing to tell me what’s bothering you.”
She remained silent for a moment as she moved the picture from her chest and down to her laps, staring at the photo of Victor.
“I fell in love with him.” She started as she stared into his eyes with a small smile spread across her lips. “I was so in love with him that I called him my soulmate that moment I met him, I felt like we were designed for each other that I didn’t care how much I had to lose to be with him. Is he decided to leave the pack, I would follow him to the ends of the world and back. I would breath underwater if it meant to live with him for all eternity…..”
