He stared at the wall in silence, unsure if he deserved to answer her questions without sorting out the problem with Anna and Ace first.
He didn’t want to betray Ace, but he had zero willpower in him to resist Hope entirely.
And he felt stupid for it.
“Harley?” Hope asked as she got onto her elbows and glanced down at him getting him to sigh out.
“I’d love to.” He said through a rusty throat. “but I can’t say anything until we fix the situation with Anna and Ace.”
“you’ve always been too considerate.” Hope sighed out as she leaned back into the bed and snaked her arms around his waist again and moved a little closer until her warm soft breath caressed the skin at the back of his neck, getting his entire body to shudder a bit. “goodnight, Harley.” She yawned out as she tightened her hug around his waist.
“goodnight.” Harley whispered out as he could feel her entire body pressed against his back, making him more uncomfortable.
*
Harley slowly peeled his eyes open as he felt a soft warm feel all over his face, forcing him to wake up from a soothing dream.
Once his eyes opened wide, he was staring right towards the window of the room with the curtains Harley closed from yesterday’s bath of a mix of emotions.
He stared out the window for a moment, staring up at the green tree towering above the window with a few birds sitting on the branches or flapping around with soft bird songs.
A sudden moan filled his ears as a warm breath caressed his chest. He dropped his eyes down to his chest nearly startled, only to realize that Hope had slept there, and that it wasn’t a dream. She was sound asleep and currently entirely leaning on him as though he was a body length pillow. Her leg stretched over his torso and her foot curled around his leg a bit as her other leg rested on the bed instead.
Her arm was loosely held around his neck with her hair crapping all over her back and his arms.
It wasn’t as though he had forgotten.
Him and Hope had always had very bad sleeping habit and would always end up tangled into each other for odd reasons. However, if they were on different beds they normally slept like coffins. Hardly moving in their sleep than when they slept on the same bed.
Her breathing was soft and soundless as her slight warmth from her body slowly leaked out and covered his. She was entirely over him and he could feel every detail of her body under her, now that he most definitely couldn’t see her as just a best friend anymore, she was a full woman and so he was noticing more than he was.
He turned his head towards the window again before shifting his eyes towards the alarm clock. It was half an hour past six and yet he didn’t feel like sleeping more. He could get out of bed but he just didn’t want to ruin Hope’s sleep. After all, Hope needed more rest from the journey. She hardly slept along the way just because of the countless thoughts she had and her worries of Harley actually falling in love with Anna.
Though, Harley did tell that she was worried about him, just as Ace had also said earlier.
He glanced back down to her hair, staring her messy hair as he passed for a moment. Her head was on his chest, though he doubted she knew it herself.
It was long before a knock echoes the bedroom, startling Harley who shifted his eyes towards the knock.
The knock seemed more demanding than a casual knock on the door, even forcing Hope awake, a bit startled as she knock echoes once more, this time, louder than the previous.
“who’s that?” Hope yawned as she laid back down from hi chest to the pillow and pulled the blanket over her shoulders.
Harley chuckled lightly as he stared down at her while she dozed off drifting back into sleep. He bit onto his lip as he tried to resist a cheeky smile. He reached over to her face and gently pushed back the hair around her face, clearing up her face as he wanted to see her sleeping face. He chuckled a little as she cringed her move when he touched her chin by accident.
The knock sounded again, reminding him of the soul reason he even got out of bed for.
He walked across the room and towards the door, suddenly getting anxious as the mere though of Ace standing behind the door crossed his mind.
He shakily reached for the handle and twisted the knob, hearing it click before the door swung back effortlessly. His eyes instantly met the eyes of the beta, Jason.
“it’s almost breakfast soon. In an about a hour.” He smiled as Harley nodded slowly. “I couldn’t get your alpha to answer the door.”
“Oh, don’t worry, she slept over last night.” Harley asked as he stepped aside and pointed towards the bed where she was lying on. “I’ll wake her up at seven then. She really seems tired so she really needs those good hours of sleep.” Harley shrugged as she Jason nodded slowly, rephrasing the words he had said earlier.
“is she our mate?” Jason asked as he rose his brows. to Harley who glanced at him in confusion, only to chuckle and shake his head in denial.
“no, we sleep in the same room together sometimes. It’s just normal for us.” Harley shrugged his shoulders as Jason nodded slowly.
“oh, okay.” Jason nodded slowly. “I’ll be off then, I’ll be back at nine thirty to pick you up and show you to he dining hall then around the pack. It seems you’re more tired than I thought so that’s why I’m delaying the breakfast. It won’t change anything we had planned for today anyway. Have a nice sleep.” Jason waved as he walked away, getting Harley to smile slightly.
“Thanks!” Harley chuckled before closing the door and sighing deeply.
He could go apologize to Ace before Anna tells him herself. She might have, but because Ace didn’t come barging into the room at night only meant that she didn’t tell him.
He also needed to apologize to Anna for lying to her without being considerate of her.
He just had to.
