“And, beta, this is your room.” Kelvin sighed as he stopped beside a door with a crescent moon bedded into it. “It’s just as big as Hope’s room, but, it has a great view to the garden at back.”
“Cool.” Harley smiled softly as he stared at the door and reached for the handle, opening it fully only to stare into a well cleaned room with a well spread white king-sized bed and extraordinarily clean floor. “Wow, it’s much cleaner than my room. So I can’t promise I’ll leave it the way it is now.” Harley grinned out as Kelvin furrowed his brows, staring at him with dismay.
“don’t you even dare.” Kelvin rolled his eyes as Harley laughed out, walking into his room.
The warm orange light greeted him first with a slightly warm fill, as though they had stolen the sun and placed it into a glass case. The light wasn’t the only warm thing that greeted him. The warm brown wallpaper that almost seemed as though they were wooden planks, making it a better fit for the slight orange glow from the bulb, making it feel a lot more homey. The bed itself had a black wooden bedframe with a glass headboard that was almost entirely covered with the large black and dark brown pillows. The blanket was a deep chocolate brown shade, making it a perfect fit to tie the entire room together.
A grey lava lamp sat on a stool beside the bed, currently off but still didn’t look out of place. To cut the long description short, the room was simply decorated to perfection.
“it’s a pretty sweet room, I’ll give you that. Makes me thing of chocolate.” Harley chuckled as he threw himself onto the bed, falling with his back as his muscles and bones ached to simply let go of all the tension of travelling and all he daily drama.
He opened his eyes and stared up at the sunflower shaped bulb as Hope’s image creeped into his mind, causing him to frown slightly.
“I don’t mean to be in any of your business. But I know you and your best friend aren’t on good terms. Somehow, I have a hunch that one of you did something bad.” Kelvin pointed out as he leaned against the door, glancing down at Harley who sat up and furrowed his brows at him in annoyance. “it’s almost pretty obvious. You can’t claim you’re best friends and act awkwardly around each other.”
“And your point is?” Harley asked as he raised his brows at him. “dude, you don’t know me, okay?”
“of course I don’t. But you’re in my pack and you shouldn’t be so grumpy about it.” Kelvin rolled his eyes. “if I became alpha I wouldn’t Eve think of agreeing to your plea being so rude like that.”
“sorry.” Harley sighed as he sat up and ran a hand through his hair. “it’s just really personal.”
“If I open up, you’ll have to too.” Kelvin said as he walked from the door after closing it. He padded across the floor and sat on the bed next to Harley who shot him a questioning glance.
“you’re literally like Anna. Why do you people trust me so easily?” Harley chuckled out as he shifted his glance to his shoes as Kelvin shrugged his shoulders.
“you just have a very friendly aroma I guess.” Kelvin sighed out as he leaned back on the bed, leaning on his arms that he tucked behind him. “plus I need someone to talk to.” He sighed out slowly.
“You seem close to Jason, the beta.” Harley pointed out as he glanced over his shoulder to Kelvin who chuckled out.
“Well I’m not. He’s something like a rival actually.” He dropped his smile as he glanced up at the bulb that didn’t seem to burn his eyes. The glow was faint and soft so it wouldn’t hurt the eyes. That way it was more welcoming.
“a rival?” Harley asked with raised brows as he sat up straight. “like a rival to become alpha?”
“a love rival.” He corrected and sat up from the bed. “Emily, she’s the retiring alpha’s daughter and she had a hard time finding a mate due to her fear of mating all together. Some childhood trauma. Something like that. She’s an adopted child, as obvious as it is since she hardly looks like her parents. But yeah, I also didn’t have a mate mostly because I lived in the city and it was the perfect chance for me to become alpha, just so my father would be proud. But she rejected me like the other guys she rejected but ended up mating with Jason.”
“What?” Harley asked in shock as he chuckled a little awkwardly. “he looks much older than you two are.”
“he is. He’s eleven years older than Emily but she fell in love with him for a really long time and they had been spending time together in the past. The only problem was that Jason treated her like a child and she didn’t like it. He didn’t see he as a woman and it bothered her. But when they mated, the next day he acted as though it didn’t mean anything, plus, her father and mine wanted me and Emily to become mates. A few weeks later and we find out she’s pregnant. And it’s not mine. I told Jason about it but he seems reluctant. Emily also doesn’t want to involve Jason because she’s afraid she’ll ruin his image and he’s afraid to ruin hers. So I have to be the one carrying the weight of it all and I don’t love her anymore.” Kelvin sighed out in frustration as he held onto his hair. “I want someone to love me back. Not another man whilst weren’t married. Someone who would really love me and I’d feel loved as well.” He bit onto his lower lip as he glanced at the ground with a deep frown.
“well, I’m rocking the same boat.” Harley smiled sadly as he glanced at the ground as well. “I’m in love with my best friend.” He chuckled uncomfortably when Kelvin shot him a shocked glance. “yeah, it’s weird but… I’ve loved her for a really long time and never wanted to tell her… but then I accidentally told the truth when I got drunk and it… she didn’t believe it at first, so she asked me the next morning and I just had to agree, because I didn’t want to lie. She got uncomfortable and couldn’t even look at me anymore. She was in love with Ace, well she still is in love with him. Even after I confessed and kissed her, she mated with him a few hours later. She didn’t tell me, I found out eventually.” He smiled weakly as Jason stared at him with wide eyes.
Clearly shocked at the story. He clearly didn’t expect this much.
