Chapter 88

Book:The Alpha King's Lust Published:2024-6-1

Just as they made it to the van, Harley instantly noticed how empty it was with Fox simply leaning onto it as he stared up at the sky. Ace walked ahead with Harlry trailing behind, both confused as they approached Fox who instantly glanced at them.
“Where is Hope and Anna?” Ace asked as he glanced down at Fox who was shorter than he was. Harley, was also taller than Fox making him a lot shorter than compared to the both of them but it never bothered Fox anyway, knowing Harley and Ace were just abnormal skyscrapers.
“They got out a while ago and said they would be back.” Fox shrugged his shoulders as he glanced towards Harley instead, still annoyed to be talking to Ace who used to be a rogue. “They left a while after you left.”
“that as nearly half an hour ago.” Harley pointed out as he glanced towards Ace worriedly.
“just leave the women alone, it could be some lady business. Besides, you left for long as well. It’s only fair you let them do what they want. Stop worrying, they are grown women.” Fox rolled his eyes as he noticed Harley’s worried glance.
Instead of scolding Fox for being very annoying, Harley reached his head into the van and glanced around for Hope’s phone, noticing it wasn’t anywhere in sight, which only meant she has it at that moment.
He reached into his back pocket and fished out his phone, getting Fox to sigh out heavily as he knew Harley’s over protectiveness on Hope was always over-board. Harley was always by Hope’s side even in he most unusual places, that made a lot of people believe they had something going on between them but did not want anyone to notice. They were just the perfect couple and everyone at one time had always complimented on how well they would be together, but Hope would eventually brush them off and claim that best friends are just like brothers and sisters and that it would never happen.
Which of course hurt Harley.
He texted Hope asking whether she was ok and the message clearly showed that her phone was still on and that she had received the message. He then received a text from her claiming she was okay and was with Anna, also thanking him for worrying with a small smiling face icon. He sighed out in relief and sent back another smiling face.
Remembering Ace’s plea to let go of Hope and to stop her from worrying about him, Harley decided to send another text asking if Anna’s cuts were still okay and whether she needed another treatment. This time, however, it took longer for her to reply and when she did, she simply said that Anna was fine and did not need anything.
He sent another smiling face before shoving the phone down his pocket, knowing too well Hope was already suspicious of him. She knew him too well, why wouldn’t she know?
“Are they okay?” Ace asked as he noticed that Harley wasn’t on his phone any more.
“yeah.” Harley nodded slowly as he folded his arms on his chest. “she didn’t seem frustrated in any way. So I guess they’re fine.” He nodded to his own words as he glanced back into the van.
“are we having dinner?” Ace asked as he glanced towards the sky, noticing how pitch black it suddenly became. “do we even have time for that?”
“As obvious as the answer can get, no.” Fox sighed out heavily as he leaned away from the van. “we wasted too much time. Well, you two and the others. You two are very lucky to be the alpha and the beta, otherwise I would have driven off a long time ago.” Fox growled under his breath as he glared at Ace then Harley who furrowed his brows in annoyance.
“Are you always this grumpy?” Ace asked as he glanced down at Fox who glared up at him threateningly.
“It’s only because he hasn’t eaten yet.” Harley rolled his eyes before getting into the van.
“well that explains a lot.” Ace chuckled out as he got in as well, getting into the back as Fox simply growled and clicked his tongue before leaving to his van.
Hope sighed for the hundredth time as Anna pinched her knees together failing to simply use the ground or the near bushes as her toilet.
Having grown in a pack sealed of with a giant wall and with countless families that had enough money to own their own mansions, making your own toilet just anywhere was considered disgusting.
So Anna simply grow up into one of those few children to actually follow the rules.
“Come on Anna, we need to get going.” She sighed out as Anna pressed her lips together. “Harley and Ace are getting worried.”
“Harley is worried?” her ears perked up at the mention of his name as she glanced up at Hope from where she was squatting.
“yes.” She nodded slowly. “so please hurry.”
“oh okay!” she nodded and finally let her stiff self breakong one of the long lived rules she had always followed. “done!” she exclaimed as she stood up and pulled her shorts to her waist.
Hope nodded and turned, walking towards the van as she held up her phone with the flashlight on so they could see what they were stepping and where they were going.
“uh… Hope, before we get to the van… I was wondering if you could… persuade Harley into liking me.” She pouted her lips as she glanced to the ground.
“Anna, you’ve only met him today, stop being like this.” Hope said angrily as she glared over her shoulder to Anna who frowned at her. “Harley isn’t like you, he doesn’t instantly fall in love on the same day they meet. Don’t bother him if he doesn’t feel that way about you yet. It takes time to like someone and to realise it.” She frowned at her own words nd glanced away and ahead.
“it’s because I easily get jealous…” Anna whispered out as she laced her fingers. “I feel like the longer I take to convince him to accept me, the greater the chances that he’ll find someone else and fall for her. That’s why I always want him to fall in love quick. It’s because I’m always scared he’ll like someone else.” Hope frowned as she kept her gaze ahead while the walked, the van peered from the distance, causing her heart to skip a beat.
