Jason slowly sat back onto the soft bed and sighed out heavily, feeling the ache radiate his body from all the packing and the movements he did. He left his suitcase by the door and stared at the wall instead, still unsure of what he would have to do after Kelvin had said all that to him.
It wasn’t just a decision he could make out of the blue as though he had been expecting such a sudden twist of events such as this one.
She was carrying his child and it was clear as day light who it belonged to.
He bit onto his lower lip and glanced down at the floor, wondering if he should go see her since she could be fighting a deadly battle on her own and cause so much stress on her. The last thing he would want is to have her suffer through a miscarriage because of worry.
Wondering if he was going to love her.
To accept her.
He got up from his spot and clenched his fists as he took in a sharp deep breath and forced it out nervously before turning to the door, only to get startled as Kelvin was already at the door, leaning agaisnt it with a mild expression on his face. Almost as though he hadn’t been resting.
“Is… something wrong?” Jason asked as he eased his clenched fists while Kelvin stared on for a while longer before sighing out and running a hand through his hair.
“I don’t want to point it out but Emily isn’t taking this pregnancy a bit too well. She’s barely had much appitite and she’s always crying.” Kelvin said smoothly as he remains where he was, watching as Jason glanced away from him. “she heard you were going to be staying here from now on and she even got more nervous than she ever had before. You have to fix your terms with her or else she won’t go through it unharmed.” He earned, getting Jason to nod his head a little I’m agreement.
“I would really love it if she went back to the way it was… that is… if we went back to the way it was before.” Jason whispered out weakly as he stared towards the ground and laced his fingers together. “I really wish it.”
“did you ever regret mating with her?” Kelvin asked with raised brows and an uneasy expression as Jason silenced for a while before flaming towards him.
“apart from ruining her life, I didn’t regret it.” Jason said as his cheeks warmed up a little from the shame in admitting he didn’t regret sharing the moment with Emily that day. “I know I should at some degree. But as much as I try to convince myself, I can’t really just pretend as though I didn’t… like it.” He chuckled out forcedly as he reached a hand behind his head and scratched awkwardly.
“well you have it.” Kelvin smiled slightly as he leaned from the door frame and stood still with his arms crossed over his chest. “so you really do love her.”
Jason didn’t say a word more as he stared at Kelvin in a bit of shock before sighing as he glanced away and down to the floor again.
“Anyway, I came to tell you that you need to be at the table at seven.” Kelvin pointed out. “dinner.”
“Oh.” Jason raised his brows in question before noddong slowly. “I’ll be there.”
“Right.” Kelvin nodded before leaving the room, disappearing into the corridor.
**
The table was entirely quite as no one uttered a word, making the table a lot more ghostly that even the air around then tensed up.
Emily kept her gaze to the food on her place as she was struggling to find he appitite that had disappeared since she discovered she was pregnant.
She jabbed the fork into the soft juicy seat and watched as the delicious fatty oils slightly ooze out of the meat. She pulled the fork out once more and jabbed it into the meat as Jason, stead, ate so slowly that even Layton noticed the awkwardness between the two.
“Aren’t you going to eat, Emily?” Maggie, her mother, asked as she noticed her daughter’s hardly touched plate. The glass tumblr beside her was almost full and she had only sipped once and didn’t care to drink more and replenish herself. Instead, it was nearly as though she was starving herself.
Emily nodded and reached over to the buns on the side and picked one up before sinking her teeth into it. She chewed a couple of times before leaving the rest of it on the plate in front of her, hardly half of the bun remained. She had yet again eaten an extra small portion.
“Come on Emily,” her mother sighed out slowly as she stared at Emily with a worried gxze. “You look as though you lost so. much weight already.”
Jason glazed up at he comment and shifted his gaze from Maggie to Emily who indeed had dropped off a few pounds herself.
Her collarbone was far much visible than it always it and perfectly exposed from the slight V-neck blouse she was wearing. Her shoulders had grown smaller and her arms a lot much slimmer than he remembered. Her overall body became even more petite than she already was.
Her jawline become more defined and so did he ugh cheekbones, almost making her look as though she was on the verge of starvation.
He shifted his eyes back to his plate as guilt ate at him now for putting her in a very crucial position. If Kelvin hadn’t told him anything, the entire weight of the pressure would be entirely on her. Well, she probably feels the weight of it all since she doesn’t know he’s aware of it.
A sudden fuzz filled up her vision as she tried to take another bite of her chicken, almost causing her to loose grip of the chicken.
She quietly laid the chicken back to the plate and forcedly stood up, shoving the chair behind and alerting everyone at the table, including Kelvin who was sitting beside her.
“Excuse me.” She nodded slowly and walks away from the table on an I start, only to have the blue on her eyes grow larger up until and suddenly lost consciousness, causing her body to fall forward on ktst own and towards the hard ground waiting under that.
