Azalea rushed back to the Gurney family when she heard that something had happened.
Azalea turned on the radio on the way back and many of the hosts were talking about the Gurney family.
They said that Francis was so angry that he became unconscious, and all of the major TV stations said that the Gurney family was about to go bankrupt due to the crisis.
Azalea started to panic when she heard that the investors were destroying the Gurney family’s company and many people were gathered outside the building as well.
The host said that the court would probably seal up all of the assets of the Gurney family in order to benefit the investors and prevent them from running away.
She thought of the paintings and the antiques that were in Francis’ study. Since those were all works of famous people, she could probably sell them for a lot of money. It would be better for her to take all of them with her instead of having them seized by the court.
Azalea immediately sped up all the way to the Gurney family’s villa. Then, she got out of the car and went straight to Francis’ study to collect all of his art pieces.
The servant immediately called Frederick when she saw what Azalea was doing. However, she didn’t know this and immediately packed up all of the paintings in Francis’ study.
Then, she kept all of the small decorative pieces in boxes and cleared everything she could take from the room.
She was still not satisfied even after all that, and her eyes fell on the safety deposit box in the study.
Something more valuable must be kept in this safe, right? She had to find the key and open it to see what was inside.
Azalea started to look for the key to the safe in the study as she thought of this and she rummaged through all of the drawers.
Finally, her efforts paid off and she managed to find the key in the drawer’s hidden compartment.
She was ecstatic as she immediately went to open the safe. However, it had dual safety features so she had to input a password as well. Azalea randomly entered a few random codes, but none of them was right.
After she had entered the incorrect code too many times, the alarm of the safe immediately started to blare.
Azalea jumped up in fright and kicked the safe a few times out of anger.
Since she couldn’t open the safe, she had no choice but to pack up all of the items that she had already packed up and leave.
Camila and her daughter-in-law arrived when Azalea was carrying the second batch of items into her car.
Camila did not wait for the car to stop before she opened the door and got out. She questioned Azalea angrily, “What are you doing!?”
Azalea became embarrassed because she got caught, but she had always been shameless and quick-witted. She immediately thought of a way to deal with the situation. “I heard that the Gurney family is about to go bankrupt and that the court will seize all of our assets soon. I was worried that they would come, so I packed up the valuable things and saved them for Dad.”
“Do you think of us as fools?” Camila naturally wouldn’t believe Azalea’s nonsense. “If it weren’t for a b*tch like you, the Gurney family wouldn’t have ended up like this.”
Azalea knew very well that Camila did not like her and she felt very aggrieved when she saw the disgust in Camila’s eyes. The latter even blamed her for what happened to the Gurney family. “Madam, how could you say that about me? I don’t have the right to participate in the company’s decisions, so anything that happens to the Gurney family has nothing to do with me.”
“Why are you still trying to defend yourself? Why would Francis want to plot against that b*stard, Michael, if it weren’t for your relationship with him? It’s all because of you that Francis had other thoughts. I hate you so much!”
Camila looked at Azalea viciously. Back then, she had accidentally allowed Azalea’s mother to hook up with her husband, which had plagued her for the rest of her life. Not only did the Gurney family end up in such a situation because of Azalea, but it was also even more infuriating because this little slut still wanted to take over the Gurney family’s assets. Camila hated Azalea so much that she gnashed her teeth in fury.
“Leave my family’s things and get out of here with your b*stard son immediately!”
Azalea panicked when she heard this. She was chased out by the Davis family last night with her child and she had just settled down for the past few hours. If she was chased out of here as well, where else could she go?
Azalea said frantically, “You can’t do this to me, I’m also a member of the Gurney family…”
“You don’t deserve to be part of my family.” Camila’s daughter-in-law continued, “You’re not even allowed to enter the Gurney family’s mansion, right?”
Of course, Azalea didn’t even know how to get there.
Camila’s daughter-in-law looked at her with disdain. “Do you really think you’re the heiress of the Gurney family? My mother didn’t even agree to accept you into our family, so who do you think you are?”
“Dad has recognized me as his daughter!” Azalea braced herself to defend herself.
“Miss Clark, do you really think that my father actually accepted you? Why didn’t he change your name if that was the case? Would he continue to keep your original surname? Let me tell you, my father gave you some backing because he wanted to use you to control Michael. You might really become a member of the Gurney family if you managed to do that, but what have you done in the end!?”
Azalea muttered, “Michael doesn’t listen to me. He doesn’t even care about his parents or his grandfather, so what can I possibly do?”
“It’s because you’re useless. It’s okay if you can’t control Michael, but you were set up to give birth to an illegitimate child. Not only that, but you actually planned to use your b*stard child be the daughter-in-law of the Davis family. It’s a miracle that an idiot like you managed to survive until today!”
“You’re just spouting nonsense! My child is not a b*stard, he’s really Michael’s child!” Azalea retorted angrily.
“Are you still living in your fantasy? Didn’t you watch the video that has gone viral on the Internet?” Camila’s daughter-in-law asked with a sneer.
“They edited my face into the video, it’s not me at all!”
“Don’t you know when to give up?! If Michael is really your child’s father, how can he allow everyone to insult both you and your child like this? Even if it was for the sake of his son, he will never let things end up like this.”
“Michael hates me…”
“At least you’re aware of that. Why would Michael let you have his child if he hates you so much? Do you think your son resembles Michael even slightly?” Camila’s daughter-in-law sneered and pointed at the child, who was carried out by the servant.
“How can someone as handsome as Michael have a child that looks like that?! Let me tell you, the man you slept with is not Michael at all. He has been using you to get back at his father from the very beginning!”
Azalea’s face was pale when she looked at the child in the servant’s arms. She had always known that her son didn’t look like Michael at all, but she assumed that she had never slept with anyone else. In the end, she had been comforting herself that her son’s features might’ve been caused by a gene mutation.
She panicked when she Camila’s daughter-in-law’s words, “No! That can’t be!”
“I don’t care if you don’t believe me. At this point, I can tell you that the reason why the Gurney family ended up like this was because we fell into Michael’s trap. He even managed to plot against Francis, so how could he let an idiot like you go?”
Camila looked at Azalea in disgust. “Don’t waste your breath on her anymore. Just get her to leave our things behind and get rid of her and her b*stard child!”
