Since Thomas was Callum and Emily’s child, the news that he was the son of the Floyd family was too shocking.
When William and Fandrey rushed to the hospital ward, they found that Emily’s eyes were red with tears and Callum’s eyes were teary as well.
Fandrey walked hurriedly until he reached the door frame and gasped. “What the hell is going on? How could Thomas be your child?”
“He’s me and Emily’s first child. She was pregnant at the time, but you didn’t approve of our relationship and Veronica was eyeing us as well. Emily was dressed in layered jackets since it was winter, so no one realized that she was pregnant. Then, she didn’t tell anyone and secretly gave birth to the baby. She was afraid of Veronica taking revenge on her at the time, so she didn’t dare to keep the child with her. She ended up sending Thomas to a welfare home before Frederick adopted and raised him.”
Fandrey’s face was full of guilt after hearing Callum’s words. He and Deborah were the ones who opposed Emily and Callum’s relationship. If they hadn’t done that at that time, Thomas would not have been left to fend for himself for so many years.
Fandrey didn’t know what to say. Compared to how surprised and guilty Fandrey was, William’s reaction was very calm. He had suspected the relationship between Emily and Thomas from the start, but he didn’t continue the investigation because he had too many things to deal with. Now that Thomas’s identity was revealed, it was naturally very good news for the Floyd family.
He helped Fandrey sit down. “Grandpa, what are you going to do about this matter?”
“I didn’t expect that the Floyd family would have another child. This is really surprising. Since Thomas is part of our family, I have to announce his identity!”
“We can’t make it public!” Emily stopped him. “Leonard is insane enough to try and kill Thomas again!”
“Don’t worry, we’ll have a way to deal with this!”
“I don’t believe you! How can I go on with my life if anything happens to Thomas?” Emily adamantly disagreed with revealing Thomas’s identity.
Since Fandrey and Callum didn’t know what to do, both of them turned to look at William.
William knew that they wanted to hear his opinion. “Let’s not argue about this now, and we’ll talk about it when Thomas wakes up. Let’s see if he’s willing to accept his own identity and listen to his opinion after he accepts it. He’s an adult as well and he knows how to make his own choices.”
William’s words silenced everyone. It was already early in the morning after the whole ruckus, and Callum was worried that Fandrey wouldn’t be able to take it anymore. He said, “Dad, you should go back and have a rest.”
“There’s no need for that, I’m not sleepy anyway.” Fandrey glanced at the time. “I have to call your mother and tell her and Braelynn about this as well.”
There was a crowd in the ward when Thomas woke up, which included Fandrey, Deborah, and Braelynn.
He felt so flattered that he struggled to sit up. Just then, Deborah came forward to hold him and burst into tears. “My dear grandson, you’ve suffered so much! Your grandpa and I have let you down, and it’s all our fault! Dear, come and apologize to your grandson!”
Thomas looked at Deborah with an inexplicable expression while Fandrey came over and apologized obediently, “I’m sorry!”
“What… what’s going on? Sir, what… what’s going on between you and Madam?”
“Thomas, listen to me! I am your grandfather, Callum is your father, and Emily is your mother. We just found out as well.”
“How is this possible?” Thomas didn’t believe it at all.
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Braelynn held her hands and showed a cold smile. “Look at me. I can still be their daughter even if I don’t get along with them. Since she takes care of you all the time, why can’t you be their son? You should accept the reality.”
“Braelynn!” Emily had a guilty expression on her face when she looked at Braelynn.
Braelynn snorted. “I’m not jealous, I’m just telling the truth. But your way of doing things is really amazing. You would rather not let him be the heir of the Floyd family, but you would let him live in the dark like this instead. What are you guys thinking?”
Emily said dryly, “I am afraid that he will be hurt because those people are insane!”
“Do you want your own child to be as weak as you? You’re being ridiculous! This incident wouldn’t happen today if you didn’t hide the truth!”
Braelynn hit the nail on the head. “Leonard thought that there was no successor to the Floyd family, so that was why he was arrogant enough to target the Floyd family’s property. If he knew that the Floyd family had such a talented young heir, he would have no choice but to suppress his sinister intentions!”
“I’m afraid he’ll be even more insane than before!” Emily was still worried.
“Haha! Is this something you can avoid just because you’re afraid? Look at my brother… I’m not referring to you, I’m talking about William. He had nothing back then, but he had never depended on anyone to create such a successful business! You’ve always been afraid of Leonard, but I’m not. To be honest, I really want to meet him right now to see how capable he is!”
Braelynn’s words made everyone silent. Thomas sat there in a daze while Braelynn walked to her bedside and said, “I know you are very surprised now, but you have to think about what will happen next after you get over this. If you have thought it over, you can come to me if you want to teach Leonard a lesson and I’ll help you. Of course, you can ignore my words if you want to be a coward like her. However, I’ll be straightforward and say that someone so cowardly doesn’t deserve to be my brother.”
Thomas looked at Braelynn and smiled. “How do you know that I want to admit that you’re my sister?”
“Don’t you want to? That would be good for me as well since William is enough for me. Not anyone can be my brother!”
Braelynn’s words caused the expressions of Fandrey and Deborah to change. “Braelynn, this isn’t the time to talk about this! Let your brother rest first and we’ll deal with Leonard once he’s recovered.”
“He just has a little shoulder injury, and his brain seems to be working just fine. Besides, he has rested for a whole night, so why does he need to rest some more? He can’t possibly be overwhelmed by something so small, right?” Braelynn looked at Thomas with obvious contempt.
Thomas smiled and looked around the room until his eyes fell on Fandrey. “Have you confirmed that I am a child of the Floyd family? Are you sure that there won’t be any mistakes?”
“No!” Emily answered with certainty.
“That’s good!” Thomas looked at Braelynn, who was still clasping her hands together. “I wasn’t very interested in being the heir of the Floyd family, but I suddenly changed my mind because of you. I love having healthy competition, so I’m very happy to have a sister like you!”
“Tsk!” Braelynn hissed through her clenched teeth.
Fandrey, Deborah, Callum, and others looked at each other in dismay. What did this mean? They were worried that Thomas would refuse to accept his identity all this while.
Unexpectedly, Thomas confronted Braelynn after she gave such a weird speech and he actually admitted his identity so nonchalantly.
