Abbie was covered up and taken back to the manor by Leonard. When she returned to her own room, she took off her veil and mask.
Leonard followed in with a cup of yogurt in his hand. “Here.”
“Thank you!” Abbie accepted the yogurt and began to eat without hesitation.
Leonard sat down beside her. “Someone was following us when we were discharged.”
“Who is it?” Abbie immediately asked.
“I don’t know the specific situation yet, but I guess it should be William’s men.”
“Who is William?” Abbie asked.
“William… he’s your best friend, Valeria’s husband.”
“I don’t have any impression of this person, so why did he arrange for his men to follow us?” Abbie asked blankly.
“William doesn’t get along well with me. His target is me, not you. Anyway, William is hard to deal with, and it’s not easy to get rid of him. I think… it’s hard to hide your identity anymore. Why don’t we go back openly?”
Was he testing her? Abbie shook her head, and then she said with a resolute tone, “I’ve already decided that I don’t want to change the plan! Unless you dislike me and think of me as a burden and want to get rid of me!”
“Of course not! For me, being able to take care of you is a gift from heaven. To tell you the truth, I tried my best to be with you before you lost your memory, but you refused every single time. I can’t wait to be with you now. I will never leave you alone. As long as you are willing, I will be by your side for the rest of my life!”
Leonard was very familiar with lies. If Abbie hadn’t recovered her memories, she would have been tempted by his words. She played along Leonard’s words. “If you really like me as you said, then listen to me and do what I plan. I want revenge. I will never let go of anyone who hurts me!”
Leonard was relieved. He had been testing Abbie for the past few days. Every time she gave him an answer, Leonard was very satisfied. She trusted Leonard and had no intentions about going home.
Leonard chatted with Abbie for a while before leaving. After he left, Abbie was lost in thought.
Before that, she couldn’t figure out Leonard’s purpose at all. She only knew that he didn’t want her to return to the Clark family.
Just now, Leonard had specially told her about William. This had allowed Abbie to learn that Leonard and William were at odds with each other, and that William was investigating Leonard.
What on earth did Leonard do to get William to track him down? Abbie thought of the high resemblance between Leonard and William, as well as how Leonard had deliberately imitated the same style of dressing as William.
Abbie’s heart skipped a beat. Was Leonard pretending to be William?
Wolf Group had such a large amount of capital that anyone would drool for. Leonard must be trying to get Wolf Group by pretending to be William.
However, she could tell the difference between Leonard and William. Valeria, Hayden, Marcus and Bobby should also be able to tell their difference. Leonard couldn’t be able to pretend as William.
Unless, Leonard wanted to get rid of those who could differentiate between him and William first.
This was horrifying.
When Abbie thought of this, she jumped in fright. She subconsciously looked out of the window. On the lawn outside the window, she saw a few tall and sturdy bodyguards patrolling.
Abbie suddenly realized that Leonard had this ability. There were so many bodyguards in the manor, and maybe there were other bodyguards she didn’t know in other places. He had so many men with him. If he really wanted to kill William, he might succeed.
Abbie then became anxious. She had to inform Valeria.
Abbie turned around to grab her phone. When her fingers made contact with it, she suddenly thought of a problem.
Since Leonard had such a powerful force, why would he kindly give her a mobile phone without any precautions?
Could there be a monitor installed on the phone that Leonard had given her? Could it be that her every move was under his surveillance?
If that was the case, wouldn’t she be exposed if she used her phone to contact Valeria and send her a message?
She couldn’t act rashly! She had to think of a perfect plan.
It was noon when Ornard woke up again. Veronica was nowhere to be seen in the ward and only the butler was sitting on the sofa while watching him.
Seeing that Ornard had woken up, the butler immediately stepped forward. “Mr. Laban, you’re awake! Are you feeling unwell?”
Ornard shook his head and struggled to sit up. “Any news back there?”
“Gurmit called and told me that the miss is rescued, so you can rest assured.”
“Rest assured? How can I rest assured?” Ornard smiled bitterly. A few months ago, he was confident.
After a few months, everything had changed. His son had become a zombie, and his daughter was seriously injured now, and his company was also in danger.
Thinking of this, Ornard’s heart ached. He asked the butler, “What’s the situation with the child now?”
“Gurmit said that the child’s condition is fine, and he will be able to get out in a few days.”
“It’s good that the child is in good condition! The child is my current hope. There can’t be anything wrong.” Ornard let out a sigh of relief and asked the butler, “Where is Veronica?”
“She’s home! She said that she would cook porridge for you when she gets home.”
“Make porridge? Does she need prepare it herself? Are all the servants are dead?” Ornard’s tone was very unfriendly.
He was so angry that he fainted but Veronica didn’t stay in the ward, and went back to make porridge instead. Obviously, she was guilty.
Ornard didn’t trust Veronica anymore. Since he could harm Veronica, Veronica could do the same to him as well.
Ornard was most worried about his health. He immediately asked the butler, “Is there any result of the test?”
“Not yet but it’s almost time. Shall I ask the doctor?”
The butler was about to find the doctor when they bumped into each other at the door.
The butler hurriedly invited a doctor in. The doctor said to Ornard with a serious face, “The results of the test are out. I came to tell you.”
“How is it?” Ornard also wanted to know the reason.
“We’ve found several harmful substances in your blood. We can be sure that you’ve been taking harmful drugs for a long time. These drugs have a very serious impact on your body.”
“What…” Ornard was silent for a moment before he asked, “What’s the specific impact?”
“Some of your body’s functions have stopped. You should have realized something different. Do you feel that your time is getting shorter and that you’re getting weaker?”
Ornard had no choice but to admit it. He was getting more exhausted when he was with Aurora. He always thought that it was because he was too tired, but he didn’t expect it to be caused by drugs.
“What’s the worst impact of this medicine?” Ornard asked with difficulty.
The doctor showed sympathy on his face. “The worst consequence is becoming infertile.”
