The sound of the door being pushed open awakened the sleeping servant. She sat up and saw Leonard and his assistant, who had suddenly appeared in the ward, followed by a surprised expression on her face. “Mr. Floyd, you’re back!”
Leonard nodded. “How is she?”
“She woke up once for some time and looked very painful. The doctor brought her for an examination but found nothing, so they could only continue to observe from here.”
“Is that so? Did she wake up again after that?” Leonard looked at Abbie, who was lying on the bed with her eyes closed.
The servant shook her head. “No, she’s been in a coma since.”
Leonard paused before walking to the bedside, where Abbie laid still with her eyes closed on the bed. Leonard glanced at her pale face and reached out to touch it gently.
As if she had been licked by a poisonous snake, Abbie felt her hairs stand on end.
Fortunately, Leonard’s hand didn’t linger on her face for long as he quickly removed it.
Then, he ordered the servant in a gentle voice, “Go have some rest!”
“I can’t leave Miss Clark alone here.” The servant wanted to show her loyalty.
The assistant said, “Mr. Floyd wants to watch over Miss Clark. Leave when he asks you to!”
To this, the servants didn’t dare say anything else and left immediately while Leonard and his assistant sat down on the sofa.
Leonard didn’t feel tired after being on a plane for more than ten hours, and instead, he was staring thoughtfully at Abbie, who was lying on the hospital bed.
The assistant poured a glass of water for Leonard. “Mr. Floyd, please drink some water.”
Leonard took the glass and drank a few mouthfuls of water. When the assistant saw that he was still staring at Abbie while drinking the water, he thought that Leonard was worried about her. “Mr. Floyd, the servant just said that Miss Clark woke up once. I think she should be fine.”
“Would she?” Leonard asked.
“Didn’t you say that those who took the drug would be fine? She should be fine as well.”
The assistant’s words made Leonard give him a cold look. When the assistant realized that he had made a slip of the tongue, a look of regret appeared on his face.
Leonard got up and went to the bedside to take a look at Abbie. When he saw that Abbie’s breathing was steady and just like before, he felt relieved and went back to the sofa to sit down. “I hope she doesn’t remember anything when she wakes up!”
Abbie had heard everything Leonard and his assistant had said. Those who took the drug would be fine? What did that mean?
And Leonard had said that he hoped she would forget everything when she woke up?
Leonard had wanted her to lose her memories forever?
She remembered that she suddenly had a headache because she had taken the drug the servant had brought. The servant had said that it was Leonard who wanted her to take it. What kind of drug did Leonard give her?
Leonard had given her the drug in hopes that she wouldn’t remember anything. However, he must not have expected that it would help her regain her memories.
This could be said to be a stroke of luck.
Thinking of this, Abbie realized a problem. Since Leonard gave her a drug to make her lose her memories again, would she need to pretend to forget everything again when she woke up?
That was alright, she would do it if she had to and start all over again. This way, she could find out what Leonard was planning.
After lying for another two hours, Abbie found an opportunity to wake up.
Just like when she had woke up earlier, she claimed that she had a headache as soon as she opened her eyes. In order to convince Leonard, Abbie screamed as she pinched her hands.
Seeing the pained expression on her face and her biting her lips, Leonard immediately got his assistant to call a doctor.
The doctor came over and pushed Abbie to the examination room for a checkup. After some hassle, naturally, they couldn’t find anything wrong.
After much hassle in the examination room, Abbie was sent back to the ward. When she returned to the ward, she covered her head and looked at Leonard and his assistant warily.
Leonard and his assistant exchanged glances when they saw that Abbie’s reaction was the same as last time. Did the drug work?
Leonard walked up to her tentatively and asked, “Abbie, are you alright?”
Abbie looked at Leonard blankly and said nothing. Leonard said in a soft voice, “Do you remember me?”
“Who are you? Who am I? Why am I here?” Abbie continued to ask blankly.
“Your name is Abbie Clark. You’re the daughter of the Clark family. I saved you when you had been pushed into the sea by someone. You’ve been in a coma in the hospital for a long time,” Leonard replied.
“A daughter of the Clark family? Abbie Clark? I don’t remember!”
Abbie hugged her head. “My head hurts! It hurts so much! Can you get someone to help me?! I really can’t stand it anymore!”
The doctor gave Abbie a shot to stop the pain, and she fell asleep after that.
Leonard lifted his wrist and glanced at the time before leaving the ward with his assistant.
“Mr. Floyd, it looks like Miss Clark doesn’t remember anything. The drug you gave her worked.”
“I think so!” Leonard also felt that Abbie’s reaction just now was because of that drug.
“Miss Clark has lost her memory. You can act according to plan now, sir.”
“That’s right. It’s just that we have to start all over again. How troublesome! Looks like we’ll have to spend some time on this,” Leonard said as he rubbed the space between his eyebrows, looking exhausted.
“Mr. Floyd, in order to speed up the progress, why don’t you tell Miss Clark that you are her boyfriend?”
“Her boyfriend?” Leonard stopped and looked at his assistant.
The assistant smiled awkwardly and said, “Don’t you want to control her? I think it’ll be easier if you tell her that you are her boyfriend.”
“No! I’m controlling because of Richard. She will have to meet Richard sooner or later. By then, won’t they know that I was lying?”
“Then… Mr. Floyd, should you say that you’re her admirer? That you’ve always liked her?”
Leonard hesitated for a moment before replying, “Yes, that’s a good idea. Let me plan this through and see what I should say.”
Meanwhile, after dinner, Angel went back to her room early. She was confused about what had happened to her. After going back to her room, she looked around, closed the door and windows, put her mobile phone on a tripod, and stationed it on the bedside table. She was going to record her room before she went to sleep to see what would happen when she fell asleep.
Later, Madelyn delivered milk to Angel on time at 10 o’clock. After Angel drank the milk and locked the door, she pressed the recording button and laid down to sleep.
She fell asleep as soon as she lay down on the pillow and started dreaming. At half-past eleven, Gurmisran swaggered to Angel’s room and pushed the door open skillfully.
The door was locked by Angel from the inside and could not be pushed open. Gurmisran muttered to himself and went back to the study to find the key to open the door.
Madelyn stood at the door of her own room and saw Gurmisran opening the door with the key, so she reminded him, “Be careful. If something happens, it’ll be difficult for us.”
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing!” Gurmisran said as he opened the door and entered Angel’s room.
He went to the bedside and began to do what he had been doing as usual. All the while, Angel was sleeping soundly and had no reaction at all.
After he had finished, Gurmisran discovered that Angel’s phone was recording. He watched the video again and sent it to his mobile phone. Then, he deleted the video and went to find a towel to clean Angel up.
When he lifted the quilt and saw that the sheets were all soaked red, Gurmisran was shocked. Then, he looked over and saw that there was a pool of red under Angel’s body.
