Madelyn sat on the ground for a long time before she struggled to get up and walked out of the identification centre.
She felt empty as she walked out of the gate and she didn’t know where to go.
She used to follow Angel around because she felt that she had a chance to live a luxurious life. However, Madelyn couldn’t see any hope at all after being scolded and beaten by Angel every day.
She could bear all of it because she used to treat Angel as her daughter. However, why should she endure such torture if she knew that Angel wasn’t related to her in any way?
Angel was such an ungrateful person that she would never plead with Madelyn to stay.
Madelyn felt that she could no longer serve Angel when she thought of this. Her life could be so much more enjoyable without having to serve another, and she could do whatever she wanted as well.
Just as she thought of her freedom, she suddenly remembered that her savings had been spent by Angel. She wouldn’t have any money if she didn’t serve Angel, so how could she possibly survive?
She couldn’t give so much without getting something in return, so she had to reap some benefits for herself.
Angel’s call came in just as Madelyn thought about it, and she heard Angel cursing at her as soon as she answered the phone. “Where the f*ck are you?! Don’t you know that I haven’t eaten yet? Come back quickly and prepare breakfast for me!”
Madelyn was fuming with anger when she heard Angel’s crude words and she directly retorted, “Can’t you find something to eat yourself?”
“What!? How dare you f*cking talk back to me? You b*tch, who gave you the guts to talk to me like this? Did you forget that I can kill you effortlessly?”
Angel was too arrogant and Madelyn’s hand was trembling as she held onto her phone. She wanted to swear and confront Angel, but she stopped when she thought of the latter’s identity.
She had nothing now. She had no money or power, and she had lost her daughter. However, Angel’s identity was different. She was labelled as the eldest daughter of the Floyd family and she was Ornard’s daughter in secret. It wouldn’t be wise for Madelyn to fall out with Angel now because she would really be killed.
What’s more, she needed money. She was running out of job options now that she was old, so it was the best choice for her to depend on Angel. Although Angel was down and out, she still had jewellery that Madelyn could sell for money.
Madelyn hung up the phone in anger, and it took her a long time to calm down before she returned to Gurmisran’s villa.
Angel threw a teacup at her as soon as she entered the door.
Angel immediately began to swear as soon as Madelyn turned her head to avoid it. Then, Gurmisran heard the noise and came out of the study to stop her. “What’s wrong?”
“This old b*tch just talked back to me on the phone. I’m furious!”
“Arguments are inevitable. We’re all humans after all, so you don’t have to be angry.” Gurmisran tried to smooth things over.
“Madelyn, you can go and do your work. I’ll persuade Ms. Floyd.”
Madelyn took the opportunity to leave while Angel was still cursing angrily. Gurmisran lowered his voice and said, “You’d better restrain your temper. Madelyn decides to leave you, how can you find a servant who is better and more loyal than her?”
Angel realized that Gurmisran was right. Madelyn had been with her since she was in Floyd the family. Even if she didn’t do anything substantial, she still put in a lot of effort. If Angel actually chased Madelyn away, she might not be able to find another servant who was as dedicated. Just then, Angel stopped cursing when she thought of this.
Meanwhile, in the Gurney family, Francis was so angry that he fell ill because he had to fork out sixty million dollars and he didn’t get up for breakfast.
Evelyn went to Francis’ bedroom to comfort him and brought porridge in. However, he waved his hand and said that he didn’t want to eat before laying in bed motionlessly.
Evelyn had no choice but to leave and call Camila. “Grandpa is ill and he doesn’t want to call a doctor. What should I do now?”
“Just ignore him!” Camila sneered and said, “How can he still have the nerve to get sick? If I were him, I would be so ashamed if I did such an embarrassing thing at such an old age.”
Camila scolded Francis angrily on the phone for a while and asked Evelyn, “What’s the situation with his illegitimate daughter? Did your grandfather tell you anything about his arrangements?”
“No, Grandpa didn’t mention her and I didn’t dare to bring it up either.” Evelyn was filled with anger when she thought of Azalea. “It’s all because of his shameless illegitimate daughter! Grandma, do you want me to hire some people to deal with her?”
“Don’t cause trouble right now. Everyone is focusing on this matter, and it’ll be bad if someone finds out about what you’ve done. Do you understand?”
“Alright, I’ll listen to you and I’ll deal with her in the future.”
Evelyn received another call after she hung up, and it was the person she had hired to keep an eye on William. “Miss, Bobby has appeared!”
“Are you sure that it’s him? Or were you mistaken?” Evelyn asked happily.
“Bobby sent William to the Wolf Group this morning. I’ve kept a close eye on him as I followed him all the way there, I can’t be wrong.”
“That’s great. Ask Jacelyn to meet William immediately.”
Bobby realized that a black Toyota was following them when he took William to the company. He looked at the rearview mirror several times and said, “Sir, someone is tailing us.”
“Don’t worry about them, just let them follow us.” William didn’t take it seriously.
“Could it be Leonard’s men?” Bobby asked since the only person who dared to stalk William was Leonard.
“I don’t think so. Why would Leonard’s men follow me?”
“Leonard’s goal is to seize the Floyd family’s property, and you’re his biggest obstacle. I’m worried that he’ll attack you.”
“It doesn’t matter, I don’t think he’s that bold.” Bobby thought that since they were in the country, he could rest assured that nothing serious would happen in William’s territory.
William went to the meeting room for a meeting as soon as he arrived at the Wolf Group, and Bobby waited for him in his lounge.
William returned to his office after the meeting ended at 11 o’clock and called Bobby to have lunch outside.
Just then, a woman suddenly shouted William’s name just as they were walking out of Wolf Group tower and rushed out. When Bobby reached out to stop her, the woman fell to the ground and landed on her back.
Bobby could see her face clearly when she fell down, and her eyes were filled with tears. “William, I mean no harm. I just came here to thank you for paying my medical expenses.”
The woman’s voice was very soft and gentle, which made Bobby feel a sense of familiarity. He was filled with utter shock when he turned his head and saw her face clearly. Wasn’t this Jacelyn?
He must’ve been mistaken, how could it be Jacelyn? Bobby rubbed his eyes in disbelief. Jacelyn, who was lying on the ground, was keeping track of Bobby’s reaction as she continued to put on an act.
“I know that your car was damaged in the accident that day and the repair fees would be very high. William, I just came to ask how much your medical expenses and repair fees would cost in total.”
William’s eyes quickly swept over Bobby and the woman. Then, he said lightly when he saw their expressions, “Is that so? So you’re here today to compensate for my medical expenses and the damage to my car?”
