Fandrey didn’t sound right. William hesitated for a moment before asking, “Is the man who looks like me named Leonard Floyd?”
“No, he’s not called Leonard Floyd,” Fandrey denied it.
William asked, “Then what’s his name?”
“William, don’t ask anymore. He is a dead man. You won’t gain anything out of this.”
“Grandpa, just a few days ago, Michael saw someone who looks exactly like me in the States. He told me because he suspects that man is related to me. I’ve asked my dad, and no one in the Howard family looks like me. That means he comes from the Floyd family. That’s why I’m calling you to find out more information.”
“There is no such person in the Floyd family! I have a call coming in. I’ll hang up now.”
Fandrey was apparently unwilling to talk about the matter and used an excuse to hang up William’s call. William had wanted to talk to Fandrey about Leonard, but since Fandrey responded this way, he couldn’t continue the conversation.
After hanging up, William was lost in thought. It was obvious that Fandrey knew Leonard.
Since Fandrey didn’t want to talk about Leonard, it must be pretty personal. It seemed like he made the right call sending Bobby to the States. He would need Bobby and Jaxon to investigate thoroughly so they could get to the bottom of this.
In Gurmisran’s mansion, Angel was still sleeping soundly in the bedroom. Madelyn was sitting on the sofa in the living room, feeling a little uneasy. Yesterday at midnight, she was thirsty and got up for a drink. Unexpectedly, she saw something unbelievable.
She saw Gurmisran sneaking out of Angel’s room.
Why did Gurmisran go to Angel’s room in the middle of the night? Was he discussing something with Angel?
Madelyn thought about it and felt that something was wrong. Angel had gone to bed early. Besides, why would they discuss at midnight?
There was a lot of time to talk during the day. Something strange was going on.
The more Madelyn thought about it, the more she felt that something was wrong. She then got up and went upstairs to Angel’s room.
Madelyn knocked on the door twice, but there was no response. As the door was not locked, Madelyn gently pushed the door open and walked in.
Angel was still sleeping soundly on the bed. Even when Madelyn walked to her bedside, she still did not react at all.
She had been sleeping for more than ten hours. No matter how much a pregnant woman needed sleep, she shouldn’t have slept this much.
Madelyn gently sat down and nudged Angel. “Ms. Floyd! Get up for breakfast!”
Madelyn called out to her several times before Angel woke up. She rubbed her eyes and muttered, “What time is it?”
“It’s almost 11 o’clock!” Madelyn replied.
“Huh? Is it already 11? Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?” Angel sat up and yawned uncontrollably.
She was wearing pajamas, and one of the buttons was undone. Madelyn was stunned when she saw Angel’s body.
There were several marks on Angel’s chest. What was going on?
She didn’t hesitate and asked, “Miss, what’s wrong with your chest?”
When Angel looked at it, she also had a confused expression. “Why… why is it bruised? Did I knock into something?”
Even though Angel said she knocked into something, it was impossible to have bruised her chest that way.
Madelyn wanted to tell Angel that she saw Gurmisran going into Angel’s room in the middle of the night. But when she thought of Angel’s bad temper, if Angel were having a talk with Gurmisran, she would be reprimanded pretty badly.
So she swallowed back her words and said, “Ms. Floyd, I’ll prepare some food for you. Come down after you’re done washing up.”
Madelyn then went downstairs to the kitchen and brought Angel’s breakfast to the table.
The sounds of a car were heard from outside. Gurmisran had come back.
He brought several bags and went straight to the dining room. After he put the groceries on the table, he asked Madelyn, “Is Ms. Floyd not up yet?”
“I woke her just now. She’s coming down.” Madelyn said as she scrutinized Gurmisran.
A few minutes later, Angel came downstairs. Gurmisran greeted her with a smile. “You’re awake, Ms. Floyd. I’ve bought you fruits and snacks that you like.”
“Thanks!” Angel had always been high and mighty when with Gurmisran. So she didn’t thank him enthusiastically.
Gurmisran didn’t seem to mind. As he saw Angel sit down at the table, he sat next to her. “Miss, when is your pregnancy checkup?”
Angel took a sip of milk and looked at Gurmisran. “Why are you asking?”
“I can send you to the hospital for it.”
“There’s no need. I don’t want to make it known that I’m currently staying with you. It’s better if we pretend not to know each other when we’re outside.”
“Alright!” Gurmisran did not insist. He then peeled an orange and handed it to Angel.
Angel was not very happy. “I don’t like eating this!”
“You should replenish your vitamins!” Gurmisran gave a flattering smile.
“Even so, I don’t need you to peel the orange for me. What do you think you’re doing? You’re not my family, my friends, or my servants. This should be done for me by them, not you. You disgust me.” Angel didn’t take up his kind offer.
Hearing Angel’s words, Gurmisran put down the orange in embarrassment. When he saw that Madelyn was looking at him, he stood up unwillingly. “I’m going to the study.”
Madelyn watched Gurmisran leave and said in a low voice, “Ms. Floyd, I think Gurmisran is a little strange.”
Angel was still disgusted by Gurmisran’s actions. When she heard what Madelyn said, she was agitated. “What’s strange about him? He’s being a perverted old man. That’s enough. Take away the food. What did you make for me? It tastes fucking disgusting!”
Madelyn couldn’t say anything anymore after Angel’s complaints. Angel then looked at the fruits that Gurmisran bought.
“Wash a bowl of cherries and bring them to me. I’m going to the terrace for some fresh air. By the way, clean up my room later. Hasn’t it been a few days since you last changed my bedsheets? Why are you so fucking lazy? If nothing you do is satisfactory, why am I even keeping you? You’re unbelievable!”
Angel then went to the terrace while cursing at her. Madelyn could only swallow her pride and send the cherries to Angel before going to clean Angel’s room.
Angel had been getting pickier recently. She didn’t complain before when her sheets weren’t changed for a week. But now, she started complaining after only three days.
Madelyn wiped the room clean and went to change the bedding. When she opened the quilt, she saw a white substance on the sheets. She knew what it was, so she was shocked when she saw it.
She picked it up sheets and sniffed it. There was a foul smell. Could it be…
Madelyn then remembered the scene where Gurmisran sneaked out of Angel’s room in the middle of the night yesterday, and her mind was buzzing.
This is Gurmisran’s…
How was this possible?
Wasn’t Gurmisran old enough to be Angel’s father? Angel wouldn’t have done this no matter how desperate she was, right?
