This was all that the receptionist knew. After thanking her, Michael went to the intensive care unit as well.
He searched the floor where the ICU was but did not find any trace of the man at all. This was the US, which meant it was not Michael’s turf. He had no choice but to leave the hospital and call William to tell him about the current situation.
William heaved a sigh. “All right, got it. Go ahead and proceed with whatever it is that you need to do! Thank you for your hard work!”
“William, why are you looking for him? You didn’t care at all when I first told you about him. Why did you suddenly pay so much attention to him?”
“Something occurred to me, that’s all. If you see him again in the future, pay more attention to him as long as you can ensure your own safety.”
“Ensure my own safety? Is this man that powerful? Will he toy with others?” Michael asked casually.
“No, he won’t toy with people, but he will take their lives!” William hung up the phone after saying that.
Bobby had been waiting for the news in William’s office. When he heard the conversation between William and Michael, he let out a sigh in disappointment. “Is there no trace of him this time?”
“Not necessarily. Michael is not an expert in this, but Jaxon is an experienced tracker. I’ll ask Jaxon to check it out. No matter how cunning a man is, his trick will be exposed.”
“Mr. Howard, you forgot to ask Michael about Azalea.” Bobby reminded him.
William smacked his forehead in realization. “Ah, it’s so forgetful of me!”
Then he called Michael again. “Did you know that Francis took Azalea home?”
“Yes, grandpa called and told me.”
“What was he planning?”
“I don’t know either! Francis, the old geezer, argued with my mom and said that he will be adopting Azalea as his goddaughter.”
“Did that really happen?” William was extremely surprised.
“Yeah, do you think that the old geezer has lost it? There are a lot of women with good backgrounds and great looks. How could he adopt someone like Azalea as his goddaughter? Is it because he was angry at my mom?”
After saying that, Michael added, “By the way, after what happened to Azalea, the old geezer went to the hospital every day. I thought he was pretending to be nice, but I didn’t expect him to do this at all. Do you think he is doing this on purpose to disgust me?”
William frowned while saying, “He will only disgust himself if he adopts Azalea as his goddaughter. What does it have to do with you?”
“Anyway, I have a hunch that something is fishy. I’ll need to be careful because the old geezer is really something.”
William shook his head as he hung up the phone. Francis wouldn’t adopt Azalea as his goddaughter for no valid reason.
Recently, his goal was to win Michael over. It seemed that he intended to join forces with the Davis family. However, it was too whimsical for him to win Michael over through Azalea, right?
Who was Azalea to Michael? Was there any other secret that William did not know of?
He couldn’t figure it out just by making guesses. Only by looking at Francis’s next move could he know what the latter was up to.
He looked at the time as he thought about it. Then he got up and picked up his coat before he told Bobby, “It’s almost time. Let’s go have lunch first.”
Bobby knew that William was not going to have lunch in the company’s restaurant today when he saw the former grabbing the coat. “Mr. Howard, where are we going?”
“My mother-in-law’s place. Just now, Valeria called and said that my mother-in-law has made some delicious food. Come with me. I’m treating you to the delicious food.”
Bobby grinned in response. “I have the opportunity to get some tasty food thanks to you, Mr. Howard.”
On the second day after the party celebrating the birth of the two children, Archer and Natalie personally came to pick Valeria and her son up. They send them back to the home of Valeria’s parents.
Hayden was reluctant to part with them. He wanted to stop them because he was worried about the children.
However, Natalie said that this was the rule. After a daughter was married, she had to go back to her parents’ home for a period of time after the baby was born. Hayden had no choice but to let them go.
After they left, Hayden had been muttering to himself. During this period of time, he had been to the Saunders family several times to visit the children. He had every intention to fetch the two children and Valeria back to his house.
However, Gavin refused to allow him. He insisted on following the rules, which meant that Valeria had to stay there for at least a month.
Hayden was unpleased. He complained to William that Gavin was deliberately doing this to him to take his grandson away.
William had no choice but to comfort Hayden and ask him to wait for a few more days. In fact, he didn’t mind this at all. After all, his home was where his wife and children were.
When William and Bobby reached the Saunders family’s villa, the gate was wide open. They breezed through the courtyard and went straight to the living room.
Unlike usual, they didn’t hear the voices of Cade and Santhos from the living room. Were they asleep?
William walked swiftly into the living room. There was no one there. Bobby looked around before he asked, “Are they in the baby’s room?”
“I think so?” William answered with uncertainty. He looked at the kitchen, where Archer and Natalie were busy with their work.
William went to the kitchen to greet them. “Mom, Dad, I’m here!”
“Ah, here comes William! Have a seat in the living room. Fill your tummy with snacks and fruits first. I’ll be right there with your father-in-law soon.” Natalie smiled and asked William to have a seat.
William asked about the two children, “Where are the children and Valeria?”
“Raymond and grandpa brought the kids out. They just called and said that they won’t be back for lunch. Valeria is upstairs.”
Upon hearing that Raymond and Gavin had brought the children out and would not be back for lunch, William was a little concerned. “Raymond and grandpa don’t really know how to take care of children, do they? Why did you let them take the kids out?”
“Fret now. I’ve asked the nanny to go with them. She brought the milk powder as well. Everything will be fine. Grandpa called just now and said that the kids were very obedient. They didn’t make much noise at all. After lunch, he would bring them back.”
After hearing Natalie’s words, there was nothing left for William to say. He asked Bobby to sit in the living room as he went upstairs to see Valeria.
Upstairs, Valeria was praticing yoga. She stopped what she was doing when she saw William. “You’re here, huh? I didn’t expect you to come so fast. Are you hungry?”
“I’m not hungry at all! Aren’t you tired since you do this every day?” William asked with a smile.
“Of course, it’s tiring for me, but I have to do it since I want to lose weight.” Valeria touched her waist. “Look, I’m still so fat! All my efforts have gone down the drain during this period of time. My mom, dad, grandpa, and Raymond, have been sabotaging my work. They’ve been trying to persuade me to eat more food every day. If I continue to stay here, I’m afraid I won’t be able to lose any weight for the rest of my life.”
“That’s why you need to pack up and go home.” William pulled her into his arms and kissed her on the forehead. “When you go back to your parents’ home with the two kids, my father is very anxious for your return. He is looking forward to the day when you go back each and every day.”
“I know he wants me to return badly, so do I. Hubby, to tell you the truth, my mom and grandpa want us to stay for another month. They tried to persuade me this morning so that I could convince you to agree.”
“That’s impossible, right? If you stay here for another month, dad will bring his men and grab you home forcefully.”
“I told them the same thing. I could only stay here for one month at most. My grandfather is not very happy to hear that. He said that it is irrational not to let the daughter-in-law stay in her parents’ home. He also said that grandpa is being unreasonable. He will be talking to him about this matter. I am worried that it will escalate into a quarrel. What do we do then? We can’t side with either of them, right?”
“Argh, we can’t even choose sides. That’s enough!” After William said that, Hayden called him on the phone. “William, go and see what Raymond has posted on his social media. It’s so maddening! You must bring the two kids back today, or I’ll bring my men to the Saunders family and snatch them if that’s what it takes!”
