Frederick subconsciously looked at Francis when he saw the birthmark. Francis was still staring at Azalea’s ankle dazedly as if he had completely lost his composure.
Frederick was afraid that the nurse would see Francis like this, so he immediately reached out and touched Francis. “Sir!”
Francis suddenly came to his senses and pulled Frederick out of the door. He lowered his voice and said, “Frederick! Did you notice that too? Did you see the birthmark at her foot?”
“Yes!” Frederick replied.
“That… that year… the child I lost had the same birthmark as well!” Francis stammered and his voice was trembling.
“Did I remember it correctly? Am I right?”
Frederick had never seen Francis so agitated before. “Sir, you’re right. There was indeed such a birthmark on the child’s feet.”
“So, could she be… that child?” Francis’s voice was dry and he sounded out of breath. “She looks… similar…”
Frederick wanted to say that this might be a coincidence, but he swallowed his words when he thought of how similar Azalea’s facial features were. “Do you want me to check it out?”
Francis’s mind was in a mess. “How can you do that?”
“The fastest way is to do a DNA test and you’ll know her identity by tomorrow afternoon.”
“Alright, make the arrangements immediately. I want the results as fast as possible.” Francis couldn’t wait.
Frederick lowered his voice and said, “Don’t panic, this matter has to be kept a secret. I’ll take her sample to the appraisal centre after the nurse leaves, and you can’t let anyone know about it before the result is out.”
“You’re right, I’m just in a mess right now!” Francis took a few deep breaths and calmed down.
Frederick and Francis entered the ward when the nurse left after giving Azalea an injection.
Frederick took a few strands of Azalea’s hair and carefully wrapped it up with Francis’.
It was already late, so there should be no one in the appraisal centre. Frederick suggested, “Sir, you can go back and rest first. I’ll arrange for someone to take care of her and I’ll go to the appraisal centre early tomorrow morning.”
Francis looked at Azalea, who was still unconscious. His feelings had completely changed when he saw the birthmark on Azalea’s sole and he could not bear to leave. “Is it really okay for us to leave her alone?”
“She’s not alone, there’s a nurse accompanying her and other nurses are on duty as well. Don’t worry, nothing will happen to her!” Francis finally left the hospital under Frederick’s persuasion.
Evelyn had already fallen asleep when he got home. Just then, he became very angry when he saw how Evelyn had no sense of responsibility at all.
“What should I say to her? How can she be so heartless to a living person? Is her sleep more important than the two lives she just harmed?”
Frederick also felt that Evelyn had gone too far., but he didn’t have the status to reprimand her with Francis. He could only defend her, “Miss must be tired.”
“You don’t have to stand up for her, I know how she is.” Francis sat down and sighed heavily when he thought of Azalea’s miserable condition in the hospital. He didn’t dare to say anything in front of the bodyguards and the driver in the car just now, but he didn’t have to hold back in front of Frederick.
“I’m very nervous. If it’s really her… It means that the heavens on my side. I don’t think I can sleep tonight anymore!”
“Take some melatonin. You’ll have a lot of things to do if it’s really her, but you have to take care of yourself first. You’ll be able to do whatever you want if your healthy,” Frederick persuaded. “You’re right, I’ll rest now and you should do the same as well. You still have things to do tomorrow.” Michael immediately made arrangements for the specialists from the Saunders family hospital after he left.
Although they didn’t operate on Azalea, he still had to make it up to them because he asked them for help when it was so late.
He invited all of them to have supper at the Wolf Group and asked drivers to send them home.
It was already two o’clock in the morning by the time everything was finished, so Michael went home and fell asleep.
He was woken up by a phone call early in the morning. When he answered it without opening his eyes, Meadow’s shrill voice came from the phone. “Michael, Azalea come home all night. Did you take her?”
Michael frowned and placed the phone at a distance. “She had a car accident and she is in the hospital now.”
“How could that happen?! How is she now and what about the child?”
Michael was wide awake when he heard Meadow’s questions, so he sat up and asked coldly, “Do you actually care about her or are you hoping that she gets injured?”
“I… I…”
“How can you ignore the fact that she didn’t come home all night? Don’t you think that’s unreasonable? I entrusted you to keep an eye on her, but you can’t even do that properly.”
“She can go wherever she wants to, so how can I track her location all the time? I can’t possibly arrange for someone to follow her around all day.”
“I didn’t ask you to do that, but I just find all of this a little strange. She didn’t come back all night, so why did you wait until now to ask about her?”
“I just found out that she wasn’t in her room. She went upstairs after dinner last night, so I thought she was just resting in the room.”
“That’s enough. What are you going to do now that something has happened to Azalea?”
“What can I do? I’ll find someone to take care of her. I’m so pissed off that this bitch keeps making trouble for us!”
Michael frowned and hung up the phone because he felt that something was wrong. Meadow would’ve asked the person who hit Azalea to be responsible for the whole matter. How could she be so kind to take the initiative and arrange for someone to take care of Azalea?
Were there any hidden agendas behind this?
He heard footsteps coming from the corridor outside while he was thinking.
Someone knocked on the door and his assistant’s voice came from outside. “Michael, are you awake?”
His assistant opened the door and came in after he responded. “You and Azalea have gone viral again.”
“What do you mean?” Michael frowned.
“The news of Azalea’s car accident last night had been posted by countless media platforms. They said that you ran a dozen red lights in succession after you heard that something had happened to Azalea, and that you scolded the attending doctor in front of the operating room. In order to save Azalea and the child in her belly, you went to another hospital to get more than ten specialists to save her… They said that you and Azalea were very in love with each other, to the point that you were crying outside the operating room…”
“What the fuck are they talking about?” Michael was so angry that he swore.
“I know that you didn’t run any red lights, but it’s true that you asked Mr. Howard to help you find a few doctors. Besides, they even took videos and photos of you treating the doctors to supper. Everyone on the internet is talking about your relationship with Azalea right now.”
