“Is that so?” William stopped and looked at her with a playful smile.
“Yes, you are the most good-looking guy I’ve ever seen. You’re my savior. I’m supposed to marry you since I’ve sworn to marry the man who saves me.”
William interrupted her immediately. “I’m married, Miss Taylor! Other than my wife, I’m not interested in other women!”
“I’m well aware of that. You married Valeria, Abbie’s best friend. I’ve seen the article about your wedding on the news. Don’t worry, I’m not a shameless, horny slut that pounces on handsome men at any chance I get. I’m an honorable person. Being a mistress is a no-no.”
William chuckled lightly as he said, “Well, that’s some conscience you have there!”
Anna was a person who would swim all over others when given an inch. Thus, she immediately followed up with a lengthy reply. “Of course, I’m a conscientious person after all. I’m grateful to those that help me and make it my mission to banish evil. If you are nice to me, I will be nicer to you. If you bully me, I’ll make sure you pay the price ten times over.”
Anna was so talkative that she was definitely a chatterbox. William held back his laughter while waving his hand. “Okay, I know who you are now. Tell me how you plan to thank me.”
“Let me think about it!” Anna frowned and thought about it for a moment. “I said that I was going to marry you, but you are already married. So we’ll pass on that. I don’t mind suffering some losses. I’ll call you my stepbrother then.”
“Is it a great loss to be my sister?” William raised his eyebrows and questioned.
“It’s not a loss at all! It’s just that I… Argh, let me tell you, I’m a proud person. The man that I acknowledge to be my stepbrother has to be the best person in the world. Don’t you want to be the most awesome person in the world?”
“No, I don’t!” William shook his head. “I don’t care if Richard becomes the most awesome person in the world. He is welcome to claim the title.”
Anna stared at William for a while before she said resentfully, “It’s fine if you don’t want it. Do you think I want you to be my stepbrother? I just want to repay your kindness. Since you don’t want to be my brother, tell me what you want, okay? I don’t like to owe others favors.”
“I can’t think of anything for the time being, so I’ll tell you next time,” William said lightly.
“No, you have to tell me about it first. If you ask me to do something bad in the future, won’t it be bad for me?”
“I can’t think of anything now. Let’s talk about it after a few days. Get into the car first. I’ll fetch you back.”
Upon hearing that William was going to send her back to the Clark family, Anna became nervous. “You won’t tell my brother about this, will you? Please don’t tell him, William. He will definitely kill me if he knows.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell him. Hop in quickly. After I send you back, I have to go to my wife.”
“Such a henpecked husband!” Anna muttered. As she looked at William’s handsome face, she was a little envious of Valeria. “Valeria is so lucky to marry a husband like you. I’ll visit her some other day with Richard’s aunt.”
“Alright, stop making trouble.” William turned her down directly.
She shot a glare at him. She felt that he was really ignorant of the ways of the world. Shouldn’t he agree to let her visit Valeria?
Why did he refuse? She insisted on going even if he didn’t want her to. She wanted to see what he could do to stop her.
In the hospital, Raymond watched the doctor wash Michael’s eyes for him. The latter’s eyes were in much pain after being sprayed with the pepper spray. He couldn’t help but rub his eyes with his hands. Now they looked scary because they were swollen and bloodshot.
The doctor cleaned his eyes and applied some eye drops for him. Raymond asked the doctor with concern, “Are his eyes okay?”
The doctor replied, “He is fine. He’ll get better after resting for a few days.”
Raymond breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that Raymond’s eyes were fine. He reached out to helped him up as they walked out. “I have already arrested that woman in the bar. She acted too recklessly. This time, I must teach her a lesson.”
Michael nodded in response. Anyone would be furious if they were treated like this for no reason. Moreover, Michael was not a good-tempered man. “She will be reflecting on her mistake in prison.”
“She is probably the daughter of a rich family. She drove a luxury car worth tens of millions of dollars after all. I think she will be on bail soon.” Raymond remembered Anna’s luxury car, so he reminded Michael.
“If she falls into my hands, she’ll have to stay in the police station even if God himself comes to help her.” Michael let out a sneer. His reputation as a top lawyer was not groundless. Instead, he was the real thing. Those who dared to provoke him definitely had a death wish.
“Fine, it’s up to you. It’s good that the unruly girl is taught a lesson.”
As Raymond spoke, he started the car. “I’ll take you home before I drop by to the police station later to see what’s going on.”
“Why are you going to visit her? Get some rest back home and go to the police station tomorrow.”
Raymond thought that it made sense. She deserved to be locked up for one night so that she knew to behave herself in the future.
After sending Michael back to his villa, Raymond turned the car around and left.
On the way back, it suddenly occurred to him to mock that arrogant woman, so he drove directly to the police station.
At this moment, the staff on duty was the only one in the police station. After Raymond went in, he asked the staff about Anna.
The staff told him, “She left earlier!”
“What? She left? How can you let her go?” Upon hearing this, Raymond was furious.
“Someone bailed her out earlier.”
“Who is the one who bailed her out?” Raymond continued to ask.
“I’m not in the position to tell you that.”
“I’m one of the people involved. Why can’t you tell me?” Raymond was infuriated. “Were you bribed by that woman? Is that why you let her go easily? Let me tell you, this matter is not something that you can cover up by playing favoritism.”
“We didn’t play favoritism. We do everything according to the law.”
“Such a feeble justification. How could you let her go if you do things according to the law?”
“Because the victim agreed to let her go, didn’t he?”
“Are you joking?” Raymond flipped out. “I’m one of the people involved. How come I don’t know anything about this?”
“We have confirmed it with Michael. He promised not to hold her accountable.”
Raymond felt that the staff’s story was ridiculous, so he immediately took out his mobile phone and called Michael.
Michael lay on his bed without taking a shower once he went back to the villa. Before he could fall asleep, his mobile phone rang. It was William. “I need to talk to you.”
“What’s the matter?”
“Let’s put an end to the matter of you being sprayed with pepper spray today. Don’t hold that woman to account.”
“Do you know her?” Michael asked instead.
“Yes, in fact, you know her too. You can’t hurt her, understand?”
Michael thought that the woman’s family had asked William to persuade him, so he became furious instantly. “Are you really my friend, William? My eyes are still fucking swollen and I can’t even see clearly. I can’t wait to skin that damn woman alive to quench my hatred. It’s impossible for you to dissuade me!”
“You didn’t even care to ask who she is, did you?”
“Who is she? It doesn’t matter because no one can do this to me! I won’t allow her to walk away unscathed!” Michael asked ferociously.
William heaved a sigh and said, “It’s Anna, the daughter of Abbie’s aunt. She used the pepper spray on you because she was avenging Abbie.”
Michael was suddenly at a loss for words upon hearing William’s words!
