The Clark family’s villa was bright. Helen was sitting in the living room while the TV showed the latest dramas. However, she was in no mood to watch TV, and her gaze was fixed on the clock in the living room.
Time passed by slowly. At midnight, the sound of cars finally came from outside.
Helen stood up and walked outside. There, she saw Richard striding in from outside.
When Richard saw Helen standing outside, he frowned slightly and asked, “Mom, why are you here? Why didn’t you go and rest?”
“How can I rest if you don’t come back?” Even since Helen had lost Abbie, she would always wait for Richard to get home before resting, and this had already become a habit.
After all, she had to make sure to see her child coming back safely with her own eyes. Meanwhile, Helen looked at Richard, who was walking towards her, and asked softly, “Why did you come back so late today?”
“I met a client. We went to get some drinks, so that took quite some time,” answered Richard before asking Helen, “Did you wait alone all this time? Where’s Anna?”
“She accompanied me to 10 o’clock. After that, she couldn’t take it anymore, so she went up to rest.”
After saying that, Helen sighed when she smelt at the scent of alcohol on Richard’s body. “How much did you drink? Let me make some soup for you so that you can be more sober.”
“Nah, it’s fine. I didn’t drink a lot, so I’m sober, and I don’t have a headache either. Mom, you should go rest now,” Richard said as he reached out to hold Helen.
“I can’t fall asleep, Richard. Also, I heard Mrs. Bailey talk about Azalea today! She said that she met Meadow a few days ago, and the latter was excited as she told Mrs. Bailey that Azalea was pregnant. Now, Azalea is focusing on taking care of the fetus in the hospital, and the Davis family is treating her previously as well. Now, they are already preparing for Azalea’s and Michael’s marriage.”
At first, Helen’s tone was very gentle, but she began to talk harsher when she said the latter words. Furthermore, she said angrily, “Abbie, my daughter, has recently been buried, but the Davis family are going to have a lot more grandsons! I hate this!”
“Mom, don’t worry about this. I have my own plans,” Richard said as he tried to comfort Helen.
“I can’t ignore this. Abbie passed away because she was pregnant. If Michael had abstained from touching other women for one year and a half because of her, I would’ve felt better! However, he spent his days mixing around with different women everyday, and he caused Abbie and Azalea both to be pregnant by accident. Therefore, I can’t forget about this because Abbie was treated so unfairly!”
Richard put his arm around Helen’s shoulder, and he guided both of them to sit down on the sofa. “Mom, I’m dealing with this issue already. In about three days, the Davis family will be ruined. All you have to do is to wait and see what will happen.”
“What did you do? Richard, are you going to hurt Azalea?”
“No! She’s not worthy enough for me to take action on my own. I want them to fight against each other instead!”
When Richard saw that Helen was still worried, he took out his phone from his pocket and called someone. Meanwhile, William’s sleepy voice came from the other side of the line and asked, “It’s already this late at night, so what’s your business?”
“William, Azalea is pregnant!”
“Oh.” William answered calmly.
“I told you to hide something in the beginning, but you don’t have to do that now. Let the Floyd family do whatever they want to Azalea then!”
“Okay!” William agreed and asked Richard, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. What can happen to me? I’m just waiting to see how this situation will unfold.” After saying this, Richard laughed coldly and said, “I’ve misjudged Michael! William, didn’t you always say that he loved Abbie a lot? Do you still think the same now?”
William was silent for a while before replying, “Richard, maybe there’s something else going on in here.”
“Alright, you don’t have to speak up for Michael anymore! After all, both of us are in this mess because of my dead sister. I will never forgive him my entire life!”
After that, the call was hung up, and William was no longer sleepy. Then, he turned at looked at Valeria, who was sleeping soundly by his side, before getting up gently and bringing his phone outside.
Then, he took a few steps back and forth in the corridor and dialed Michael’s number.
On the other hand, Michael picked up this call quickly. “It’s already late, so why aren’t you asleep?”
“You’re awake too, right?” William retorted.
“I just came back from overseas, so I can’t sleep because I’m not used to the time differences.”
“Is that so? You came back so quickly because Azalea is pregnant, right?” William asked.
“Yes!” Michael admitted.
“Do I have to congratulate you?” William said faintly.
“Nah, there’s no need for that. After all, it’s not a joyous occasion,” Michael laughed at himself by saying this.
“I’m asking you this. Is the baby inside Azalea your child?” William didn’t want to beat around the bush with Michael anymore, so he asked directly.
“Of course!” Michael admitted immediately.
William took a deep breath. After all, he thought that the baby that Azalea was pregnant with wasn’t Michael’s child. However, he never thought that Michael would give him such an answer.
“You’ve disappointed me!”
On the other hand, Michael would feel how solemn William was, so he laughed and said, “I’ve already let everyone down, so you can join the club.”
“Alright, I have nothing else to say to you then,” William said and was prepared to hang up the call, but Michael called out to him. “Wait, I have something to tell you.”
William hummed in agreement and did not hang up the phone. Then, Michael sighed and said, “I’ve begged you to keep Azalea’s past a secret in the past, right? Now, you don’t have to keep this a secret anymore. I mean, you don’t have to hide the fact that she’s not related to the Floyd family anymore.”
“Michael, do you think it’s worth it?” William asked. “If you wanted to get revenge on your grandfather and your mom, you have a thousand other ways to do so. So, why did you choose this method? Do you know how many people you hurt by getting Azalea pregnant with your child?”
“I do! In fact, the Clark family would detest me greatly! Also, I know that you must be extremely disappointed in me, but I don’t care about all this anymore!” Michael said faintly. “Right now, I’m like a walking corpse, and I don’t even know whether I’m dead or alive. Hence, I don’t care about anyone’s feelings anymore.”
“Huh? Don’t you care about Abbie’s feelings? If she finds out that you had a baby with the woman she hated the most and about your plans, she will regret loving you so much in the past! You could’ve had a baby with any other woman, but you crossed the line by getting Azalea pregnant! I’ve always thought…”
Then, William panted and said, “I always thought that you would use another method because you’re smart! After all, there are many ways to solve this problem! Michael, let me ask you one last time, is the baby inside Azalea’s stomach your child?”
Michael was silent for a while before he replied softly, “Yes!”
As soon as the word left his mouth, the other end of the phone was quiet. Hence, Michael knew that William had hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, Michael held the phone in his hand tightly, and blue veins stood out on his forehead. After all, he knew that William was disappointed in him.
Since the beginning of this incident, William had never been disappointed in him, and he had always believed in him.
But now, William was really disappointed in him!
Oh, well. Maybe it was a good thing for William to be disappointed in him.
After all, someone like him wasn’t worthy enough to give other people hope. He shouldn’t have any friends, brothers or children. In fact, he should just live alone for the rest of his life!
