As the traffic light turned green, Anna’s sports car sped off at the speed of light.
Raymond also sped up unconsciously to catch up with Anna. Although Raymond’s car was also an expensive luxury car, it couldn’t compare to Anna’s sports car and he was soon left behind.
Anna’s car was out of sight a few minutes later, so Raymond slowed down helplessly and scolded angrily, “That bitch better not appear in front of me again, or I’ll kill her!”
Anna slowed down when she could no longer see Raymond’s car in the rearview mirror.
She held the steering wheel with one hand and sneered disdainfully. “You still want to fight against me? You’re lucky that I didn’t report you to the police station!”
Her phone rang as she muttered to herself and her expression immediately changed when she picked it up. She became obedient, gentle, and her voice was hoarse. “Auntie!”
Helen sounded a little tired on the other end of the line. “Anna, why aren’t you home yet?”
“I’m on my way back. Don’t worry, Auntie. I’ll be fine,” Anna replied sweetly.
“I’m calling to tell you that your cousin is coming back and he wants to see you. Come back quickly!”
“Richard is back?” Anna’s heart was filled with fear. Why did Richard come back? Helen said that Richard would come back in three days when she went out this morning. Anna asked guiltily, “Didn’t he say that he would come back in three days? Why did he come home early?”
“Of course, he’ll come back after he finished his work. Haven’t you been thinking about him? Why are you unhappy when you hear that he’s back?” Helen asked in confusion.
“I’m not unhappy. I’m just…” Anna knew that she couldn’t hide it anymore when she heard that Richard had returned. “Auntie… I… I drove Richard’s car out. Will he be angry?”
“He has so many cars, so you can just drive them. What’s there to be angry about?” Helen didn’t take it seriously.
“I’m not driving an ordinary car. It’s… that limited edition blue sports car.”
“There are so many cars in the garage, so why did you drive that car?” Helen was stunned. “And how did you get the car keys? Richard loves that car so much and I don’t even know where he placed the car kets.”
“I went to his study to get it.” Anna became more and more guilty. Not only that, but she even used tools to pry open Richard’s drawer before getting the car keys. She immediately went out to show off after that, but she didn’t expect that she would be caught like this.
“What? What did you do?” Helen also knew that Anna was bold and she must have done something bad. “This is great. Richard would definitely scold you if you knew that you had secretly driven his favourite car.”
“How can Richard be so petty?” Anna muttered.
“That’s not it. You’re driving his favourite car, and you…” Helen paused for a moment. “Why does a good girl like you like to drive fast cars?”
“Auntie, I know I was wrong. You have to protect me when Richard scolds me.” Anna knew that she could not escape from it, so she had to rely on Helen.
“How can I do that when your cousin has such a bad temper?” Helen was in a dilemma.
“I don’t care. Anyway, I’ve secretly driven the car out and I can’t pretend that nothing happened. You must find a way to help me if Richard scolds me, or else he’ll definitely kill me.”
What could Helen do? Richard was her own son and Anna was her favourite niece, so she had no choice but to be a mediator.
Anna hung up the phone and sped towards the Clark family’s villa.
Richard didn’t know that Anna had driven his favourite car out and he talked with Donald for a while before returning to his study.
He sat down and turned on the computer. Then, Helen came in with tea after he looked at his company emails for a while.
Richard turned his head when he heard Helen push the door open and said, “Mom, you don’t have to do these things personally. Just let the servants do it.”
“How can the servants do it better than me?” Helen smiled and placed the teacup in front of Richard. “Richard, you seem to have lost a lot of weight.”
“Don’t I look fine?” Richard touched his face and his eyes fell on Helen’s face. “But Mom, you look too thin. I bought a lot of tonics, so you should eat them to recuperate.”
Helen nodded and her eyes were slightly red. Richard knew that she was thinking of Abbie again, so he immediately changed the subject. “Didn’t you tell me that Anna is here? Where is she?”
“She went out to play!”
“Why isn’t she back yet?” Richard frowned and looked at the time. “Anna likes to make trouble everywhere, so she’d better not cause a ruckus.”
“I just called and asked her. She said that she was on her way back.” Helen wanted to say something, but she stopped on second thought.
Richard didn’t notice her expression, but it just so happened that his assistant called him. He answered the phone and talked. Then, he reached out to open the drawer and he pulled it open to take out a document.
His gaze suddenly swept across the empty box of keys in the drawer. Richard was stunned and he turned to ask Helen, “Where are my car keys? Who came into my study?”
Helen faltered. “Anna… Anna took it!”
“What!?” Richard raised his voice and he didn’t care about the phone call with his assistant at all. After he heard Helen’s words, he suddenly remembered that his drawer was locked. Did Anna secretly pry open his drawer?
Richard was so angry that he burst into laughter. “Can Anna change her bad attitude? How can she steal someone else’s things like this? How can someone as well-off as her be a thief?”
Helen saw that Richard was angry, so she tried to persuade him. “She just likes cars. Richard, she has already driven the car out and nothing happened. Don’t scold her when she comes back. After all, she is your cousin sister and it’s rare for her to come here. It’s not good for you to scold her.”
“I have to reprimand her! Wouldn’t the world be in chaos if everyone acts like her?”
As Richard spoke, he heard the rumbling of a car outside. He suddenly stood up and walked out while Helen followed him anxiously. “Richard, listen to me. Don’t scold Anna, okay?”
Richard ignored Helen and strode downstairs. Anna had just gotten down from the car after she parked it in the garage. She immediately saw Richard rushing out at a glance.
She shrank back a little and braced herself to take the initiative to say hello. “Richard, you’re back!”
Richard looked at Anna with a gloomy face. “How dare you!”
“Richard…” Anna let out a pitiful cry and suddenly burst into tears.
