When William left Michael’s law firm, he didn’t look quite happy. When he got into the car, he instructed Marcus, “To Wolf Group Hotel!”
His voice sounded unhappy. It was evident that he didn’t have a pleasant time meeting Michael.
Marcus carefully observed William’s expression as he drove. He wanted to ask William what Michael had said, but he swallowed it back.
It was obvious that William was in a bad mood. If he asked, he would probably be scolded.
Marcus didn’t dare to say anything. The car drove to the parking lot of Wolf Group Hotel, and William strode into the hotel after getting out of the car. Marcus was one step behind, and a car next to him came to a stop. When Marcus saw the familiar driver, he stopped and greeted Callum with a smile, “Hello, Mr. Floyd!”
Hearing Marcus greeting Callum, William stopped and turned his head around.
Callum got out of the car with a smile and walked over. “William, are you not taking care of Valeria at the postnatal care center?”
“I came out as I have something to attend to. Do you have something going on here?” William’s expression softened when he saw Callum.
“Wayne has asked for me to meet him here.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes, I made an appointment in advance yesterday, so I can’t refuse it. I have to come and see him.” Callum obviously didn’t want to meet with Wayne.
William frowned slightly. “Why does he want to see you? Is it regarding business or private affairs?”
“I don’t have any business dealings with the Davis family. It’s likely a private affair.” Callum had a helpless expression on his face. “Before this, Wayne wanted me to cooperate with him to deceive Michael. Back then, I had treated Azalea as… So I agreed with him. But now that I found out the truth, I think this is pretty ridiculous.”
“Haha!” William sneered. Was Wayne unable to stand idle anymore? He unexpectedly put aside his dignity and took the initiative to meet with Callum. Does he have no shame?
Wayne thought that he was being clever. But little did he know everyone knew what he was up to. What a joke.
“William, what do you think of this?” Callum asked.
“Uncle, are you going to tell him the truth?”
“It’s hard for me to talk about this. I wanted to tell Wayne that Azalea has nothing to do with us. But Braelynn called me on purpose to ask me to hide this. I feel that it’s quite improper to deceive Wayne like this. But at the same time, I have to listen to my daughter.” Callum sighed.
“But Wayne is being too dishonorable. How can he be so shameless? He is coveting the property of the Floyd family. Why does he think that the Floyd family will let Azalea inherit everything? He is so clueless.”
“Uncle, just wait and see. Let’s see what he says. If he brings up Azalea, tell him that Azalea is not related to you. It’s his problem whether he believes in you. You’ve done what you can.”
“But Braelynn told me not to tell…”
“This is what I’m saying. Whether Wayne believes in you or not is up to him. You have done what you can. As he had done something like this because of his greed, I’m afraid Wayne will never believe that he has gotten himself an impostor. He would think that you denied Azalea’s identity because you don’t trust him. In short, this is all up to his imagination. It would be great if he could believe in you and turn back from his ways. If not, he shall feed on the fruits of his deeds.” After saying this, William shook his head. “But I think he most probably won’t believe in what you say.”
Callum understood what William meant. “Okay, let’s do as you say.”
The three of them then entered the elevator together. William went to the presidential suite on the top floor, while Callum went to the private room where he were to meet with Wayne.
When Callum pushed open the door of the private room that Wayne had reserved, Wayne stood up happily and was extremely enthusiastic. “You’re here, Mr. Floyd! This way, please!”
As he spoke, he took the initiative to pull out the chair next to him. Callum cursed in his heart and sat down with a smile.
The waiter came in with tea. Wayne then handed the menu to Callum. “Mr. Floyd, order something!”
“You should go ahead and order it instead.” Callum felt uncomfortable because of Wayne’s enthusiasm.
“You are my guest, Mr. Floyd. You should be the one to order.”
“As a guest, I should suit the host’s convenience.” Callum refused. Seeing that Callum was unwilling to order, Wayne had no choice and ordered a few of Wolf Group’s signature dishes.
The dishes were served one after another. Wayne then smiled and raised his glass to Callum. “I propose a toast to you, Mr. Floyd!”
Callum clinked glasses with him politely, and they toasted each other while eating the dishes with a smile. Callum did not ask why Wayne asked to meet him.
Seeing that Callum kept silent, Wayne became a little anxious.
When the meal was coming to an end, Wayne could only speak up, “Azalea is now staying at my house.”
“Why did you get Azalea to move into your house?” Callum asked with a surprised expression.
When Wayne saw Callum’s expression, he scolded in his heart that Callum was good at pretending. He didn’t believe that Callum didn’t know anything about Azalea moving into the Davis family.
Callum even asked him why he let Azalea move into the Davis family. What did Callum mean? Why was he still feigning ignorance at this time?
Was he not happy with the relationship between Michael and Azalea? That shouldn’t be. Azalea had no talent nor virtue. If not for her identity as the eldest daughter of the Floyd family, she was not even fit to serve Michael. Would Callum not know what Azalea was worth?
As Wayne thought that, he spoke frankly, “My daughter-in-law likes Azalea. Michael and Azalea are also in love with each other…”
Callum looked even more surprised. “I’ve heard of the relationship between Mrs. Davis and Azalea. But is it true that Michael and Azalea are in love with each other? Why would Azalea catch Michael’s eye? This is so surprising.”
Callum said straight up that Azalea didn’t deserve Michael. Wayne froze in his seat. What did Callum mean? Even if Azalea was a disgrace, as her birth father, Callum shouldn’t say that about his daughter.
Could it be that Callum was not happy with Michael and the Davis family? Or that Callum was playing hard to get?
How could Callum be so high and mighty after all that he has done? This was getting annoying.
Wayne was unhappy but he held back his anger. “I think Azalea is a good person.”
“She’s a good person? Why do you think so?” Callum asked.
“She’s good at acting and has a good temper. She’s also obedient, kind, and well-mannered.” Wayne started spouting nonsense.
“Do you know her very well? To tell you the truth, I also used to think that she was a nice girl. But after spending some time with her, I realized that Azalea has a rotten personality under her fine appearance. Didn’t my company hire her to become the company’s brand ambassador? She broke the contract because of personal reasons. The Floyd family would not hire her anything anymore in the future.”
“Is that so?” Wayne felt that Callum meant something else. Was the reason they wouldn’t hire Azalea anymore in the future because she is the eldest daughter of the Floyd family, and they didn’t want their precious daughter to make public appearances so often?
Callum was cunning, and Wayne thought Callum was testing him. Wayne smiled and said, “I think Azalea is a nice person. It’s your loss if you don’t hire her as your company’s brand ambassador.”
Callum smiled and said, “I don’t think it’s a loss. However, each person to its lights. I’m sure you are right in your judgment. Since you think Azalea’s a nice person, she must be so. That’s enough. Let’s not talk about irrelevant people anymore. Why don’t we talk about the matter at hand? Mr. Davis, why did you call me here to meet with me?”
