Chapter 1395 Who The Hell Are You

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

A bodyguard came over and opened the door a while after the doorbell was rung. However, he had no intention of letting Azalea in. Instead, he asked Azalea in a business-like manner, “Who are you looking for?”
The bodyguard wore an indifferent look on his face. Azalea was clearly stunned by his question. “Don’t you know me?”
“Am I supposed to know you? Who the hell are you?”
The driver of the Davis family got out of the car and opened the trunk to bring the gifts out. He subconsciously glanced at Azalea upon hearing the bodyguard’s words.
Azalea blushed when she felt the driver’s gaze. From the start, the Floyd family had never openly acknowledged her.
She remembered clearly what Fandrey had said to her when she addressed him as her grandfather. Naturally, she did not dare to declare herself to be the eldest daughter of the Floyd family. She could only suppress her anger. “I wish to see Mrs. Floyd!”
“Madam, please tell me who you are if you want to see Mrs. Floyd. Let me remind you that not everyone can visit the Floyd family as they wish. Mrs. Floyd is not someone that anyone can drop by and see casually.”
Azalea was so embarrassed that she hoped the earth would swallow her up since she was being humiliated in front of the driver of the Davis family. Anger boiled within her and she was tempted to slap the bodyguard.
However, she held back her anger because she thought that it was not the right time. After she entered the house, she would complain to Deborah so that this ignorant bodyguard would be taught a lesson.
She kept her temper in control. “Tell Mrs. Floyd that I’m Azalea! I used to live here before!”
The bodyguard replied with an “oh” as he slowly picked up the walkie-talkie. “There’s a woman called Azalea here who wants to see Mrs. Floyd. Should we let her in?”
After more than ten minutes, a voice answered his question from the walkie-talkie. “Mrs. Floyd isn’t free to meet anyone. Ask her to leave!”
The voice from the walkie-talkie was so loud that Azalea was not the only one who hear it. In fact, the driver of the Davis family heard it clearly as well. He looked at Azalea in surprise.
Azalea was dumbfounded too. She knew that Deborah would be offended when she left with Meadow by giving a poor excuse, but she didn’t expect the consequences to be so serious.
Deborah was being blunt and rude, wasn’t she? Azalea was both anxious and furious. She had enough embarrassment for one day. Since Deborah didn’t even show up, she definitely wouldn’t agree to meet Azalea. If the latter continued to stay here, she would only further embarrass herself.
She turned around and got in the car. The driver followed her and asked, “Miss Clark, what do we do now? Mr. Davis has asked you to deliver the gifts. What should we do with the gifts?”
“We’ll talk about it later! Mrs. Floyd is angry at me currently. I’ll call Mr. Floyd and talk to him.” Despite saying that she would give Callum a call, she knew that the only person she could ask for help now was Emily.
Thus, she called Emily immediately, asking her to put in some good words for her in front of Callum. Then Callum could advise Deborah to forgive Azalea. However, her call to Emily was not answered.
During this period of time, Emily had never picked up any of her calls. She never called her back, too.
Azalea had been busy targeting Abbie previously, so she didn’t think too much about the reason Emily had been ignoring her calls. However, right now, she felt like something was fishy.
In the past, Emily loved her like she was the apple of her eyes. She had never ignored her calls or refused to call her back. So what was the reason for her behavior this time?
This wouldn’t do. She would have to go to Emily and ask her in person.
Azalea gave an order to the driver. “Send me back to my apartment.”
An hour later, the car arrived at Azalea’s apartment. She asked the driver to wait downstairs as she hurried upstairs.
She called out as she opened the door, “Mom! Mom, I’m back!”
No one greeted her. She turned on the lights but there was no one in the living room and bedroom. The entire apartment was silent and peaceful. It was obvious that no one had lived here for a long time.
Did Emily leave B City? Why on earth would she leave? Callum was here, so there was no reason for her to leave this place, right?
Azalea called Emily again several times in a row. The call was finally connected. She said happily, “Mom, where did you go?”
Emily’s voice was chilly. “To what do I owe the pleasure of this call?”
“I’m back. Don’t you know that I miss you? Why didn’t you answer my calls?”
“Oh, I didn’t see those missed calls,” Emily replied dryly.
“Where are you now?” Azalea felt the cold aura from Emily so she was a little aggrieved. However, she could only act nicely since she needed Emily’s help. “I bought you a gift. I’ll bring it to you.”
“Save it for yourself! I don’t like gifts.” Emily refused straight away.
“I selected it for you personally. You will definitely like it! Mom, are you angry at me? If so, I apologize to you. I will apologize to you again when we meet up, okay? Can you please stop being angry at me?”
“I’m not mad at you.” Emily took a deep breath as she suppressed her disgust. “Just don’t call me mom anymore.”
“Why is that? Did something happen?” Azalea was so shocked that even her tone changed.
“The Floyd family hasn’t decided to acknowledge your identity yet. For your safety, you should call me aunt in the future, just like how you used to. By the way, don’t contact me frequently after this. Just act like how we were in the past. No, actually, we’ll need to be colder to each other than before.”
“Um…” Azalea was stunned. Why did things change so much after a single trip overseas?
“Can’t I call mom in private? I won’t call you mom in front of others. It’ll just be the two of us, in private.”
“That won’t do! To prevent any slip of the tongue, you should address me like how you did in the past!” Emily sounded resolute.
“Is this why Mrs. Floyd didn’t want to see me when I went back to the Floyd family’s villa?” Truth be told, Azalea didn’t care about how she should address Emily. She only cared about why the Floyd family had suddenly changed their attitude towards her.
Naturally, Emily would not tell Azalea the truth. “Yes, that’s roughly correct!”
“I was scared for a moment. The bodyguards stopped me although I told them that I had brought gifts. They were being mean. So it’s for all my safety, right? That’s a relief!”
Azalea let out a sigh of relief. “Aunt, I hope to give you a gift. Where are you?”
Such a disgusting bitch. She was so quick to change how she addressed Emily. She was a skilled actress indeed. Emily hated her with all her heart. “No need to do that. Keep the gift for yourself. We should meet up less in the future. That’s all!”
Azalea heaved a sigh of relief when the call ended. She was terrified just now! She thought something had happened without her knowledge, but it turned out that this was only done to prevent others from suspecting her. Since it was for her safety, there was nothing to worry about. She would immediately return to the Davis family to report the situation!
She went downstairs and got inside the car. Then she ordered the driver to return to the Davis family. Meadow greeted her with a smile when she was back. “Why are you back? Didn’t your grandma ask you to have dinner with her?”
“They didn’t let me in! They told me that now isn’t the time to declare my relationship with the Floyd family. For my safety, they’ve asked me to keep a distance from the Floyd family from now on.”
“Is that so?” Meadow felt that things didn’t feel right. After all, they were in the country, not abroad. It was impossible for Ornard to have his men keep an eye on the Floyd family every single day. Wasn’t the Floyd family being too cautious?
However, at the thought that she was the one who personally watched Madelyn swap Azalea back then, Azalea was definitely the descendant of the Floyd family. She was their sole heir. It was only normal for them to tread carefully so that they could keep her safe.
