Chapter 1377 Long Time

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Francis looked at the pink mobile phone in Evelyn’s hand and smiled. “Did you buy matching couple phones?”
“Grandpa, how did you know?” Evelyn asked with a smile.
Thomas wanted to look for a phone because he didn’t have it with him for a few hours. He was worried that there was something important.
Thomas was about to open the phone box as soon as he got it, but he felt upset when he heard Francis and Evelyn’s conversation. He immediately gave up on checking his phone and ordered the waiter to serve the dishes.
This was the effect that Evelyn wanted. It was best if Thomas checked his phone after the meal or buy a new phone because he hated the one she bought. This way, her plan would’ve succeeded by the time Thomas found out.
Evelyn wanted to get up and pour some wine. “Grandpa, I haven’t had dinner with you for a long time, so I have to make a toast to you tonight.”
“Okay!” Francis said with a smile, “Make a toast to Thomas and Uncle Frederick as well. Let’s get drunk tonight!”
William was still in the air when he felt a sense of uneasiness when he looked at the dark night outside from his seat.
He had been in control of everything for so many years and he had never felt like this before. What was going on today?
Could an accident have happened?
Did Michael and Richard fight again? William was not worried about Valeria. After all, he had repeatedly told Hayden to keep an eye on her when he left and Bobby had stayed behind to take care of her as well. He didn’t think that something would happen to Valeria.
The frustration in his heart became even more intense and he also felt a faint sense of fear. William rubbed his temples for a long time but he could not calm himself down.
He ordered the bodyguards to bring him a glass of wine, but he still felt uncomfortable even after he drank several glasses in succession.
He couldn’t make a phone call on the plane, so he looked at the bodyguard in annoyance because he couldn’t control the situation. “How long will it take to reach?”
“Three hours!”
“What?!” William repeated and let out a sigh. “It feels like a really long time!”
Valeria entered the place where Evelyn had reserved with her bodyguards and helpers. The nanny helped Valeria carefully go up the stairs and entered the private room. Since Thomas sent a message that he would arrive late, Valeria sat down and told Bobby and the others, “You can go to the next room for dinner.”
Bobby did not move. “I’ll accompany you to wait for Mr. Gurney.”
“No, I’m fine. I’ll call you if there’s anything. Take Auntie and the others to eat first.”
Bobby thought that there should be no problem since they were just next door, so he took the other two bodyguards and the nanny to the next room. The waiter then brought in the menu and tea. When he saw that Valeria was pregnant, he brought in a cup of plain water and fresh fruit juice.
Valeria glanced at the time. It was almost 7:30 p. m., but Thomas had not arrived yet. She picked up the menu and began to order.
She waited for a while after she ordered the dishes, but Thomas still had not arrived yet. The waiter came in and asked when Valeria wanted them to serve the dishes. She looked at the time and realized that it was eight o’clock. Why hadn’t Thomas come yet?
She was a little worried and sent a message to Thomas, “When will you arrive?”
She frowned when there was no reply from Thomas. Why was he being so strange?
Did something happen to Thomas?
That wouldn’t happen and she couldn’t let her imagination run wild.
Valeria hadn’t had dinner yet when she arrived at the hotel, so she asked the waiter to serve some snacks because she was hungry.
She received a message after she ate a few pastries to fill her stomach. Valeria thought it was from Thomas, but she picked up the phone and found that it was a message from an unknown number.
“Hello, Miss Brown. I have something very important to tell you and it’s about Abbie. Please take a deep breath and calm down. Don’t get agitated.”
The other party wanted to tell her about Abbie? Who was this person? Valeria was deep in thought when she received another message. “Miss Brown, are you calm now? If so, I’ll tell you about Abbie. Miss Brown, do you know that your best friend is dead? I’m sure you’re in disbelief, but it’s true.”
Valeria’s heart sank after she read the contents of the message. “How can Abbie be dead? It’s completely impossible!”
She received another message again as she pondered. “Abbie died in the sea. The police said that she accidentally fell into the sea and disappeared. I guess that the real cause of death was not an accident, but she was murdered by someone. Miss Brown, I’m sure you can think of the potential culprit. Since I told you so much, you must think that I was talking nonsense, right? Can you call Abbie or did she reply to you? I’m sure the answer is no because she’s dead now, so she can’t answer your calls or reply to your messages.”
Valeria’s heart sank when he saw the message. The other party had sent several photos one after another. There were photos of fishing boats in the sea and photos of Helen’s eyes turning red with grief. Valeria’s face turned pale after she saw the photos. Was Abbie really gone?
It was impossible because she was still so young! This must be a prank.
Who would send her such a cruel prank message? What was the purpose?
The fourth message came in after that. “By the way, your husband didn’t go abroad in such a hurry for business, but it was because he received the news of Abbie’s disappearance. The Clark and the Davis family have started to fall out because of Abbie’s death. You should have heard about this, right? IT’s such a pity for your best friend to die at such a young age. I’m sure you must be in a bad mood now.”
Not only that, but Valeria felt that it was difficult for her to breathe and her entire chest felt constricted.
She didn’t believe that Abbie would be gone and she would never accept it.
Valeria called Richard with trembling hands, but he didn’t answer.
She called Michael, but he didn’t answer as well.
There was no reason for both of them to not answer her call. Were they were afraid that she would ask about Abbie’s news?
So did Abbie really die? Valeria really didn’t believe that Abbie would leave, but the messages she received was not completely baseless and many of the details were correct.
First of all, Abbie didn’t pick up her calls, nor did she reply to her text messages. Apart from the period of time when Abbie lost her memory, she would contact Valeria almost every single day.
In addition to that, William’s unnatural tone on the phone made Valeria’s eyes turn red.
Something must have happened! It must be something very serious!
Did Thomas ask her to meet him to tell her that Abbie was dead?
Abbie!
Valeria felt a sharp pain in her chest and also a sense of discomfort in her belly. Her babies must feel uneasy because they could sense her discomfort. Valeria could feel it as they rolled and kicked her stomach.
