Azalea arrived within forty minutes.
Meadow was waiting in the living room while Azalea came in with a relaxed expression and greeted her with a smile. “Hello, Aunt Meadow! I haven’t seen you for a few days and you look much more beautiful than before!”
Meadow was not in the mood to listen to Azalea’s compliments. She brought Azalea into her room and lowered her voice. “Azalea, does Abbie’s matter have anything to do with you?”
“A little!” Azalea replied.
“Abbie’s disappearance wasn’t an accident at all. Were you the one who ordered Josephine to do something to her? Azalea, how can you do something so rash?” Meadow immediately complained.
She wanted Azalea to be her daughter-in-law because she wanted the assets of the Floyd family. She was fine with Azalea jealous schemes, but killing someone was too much.
To be honest, Meadow also felt that it was too much to have a murderer as her daughter-in-law after she calmed down and thought about it.
“Auntie, I didn’t ask Josephine to do anything to Abbie. I asked Josephine to meet her and provoke her, but I didn’t expect that something bad would happen.” Azalea knew that she was the biggest suspect now. No one would believe her even if she denied it, but she would never admit that she killed someone. The only choice left for her was to be neutral.
“Why would Josephine want to kill Abbie? She’s an idiot! What’s the benefit of killing Abbie?” Meadow scolded.
Azalea had specially asked Paisley to arrange some men to help her. She didn’t use the bodyguards of the Davis family to avoid suspicion.
She replied calmly, “Josephine probably didn’t want to kill Abbie, so I guess Abbie’s disappearance was an accident. After all, Josephine also went missing. I guess a huge wave must’ve washed over them while they were talking, and they were dragged into the sea after being caught off guard.”
Meadow believed Azalea after she heard the story. “Why would Josephine invite Abbie to the beach? Wouldn’t it be better to go somewhere else?”
“I don’t know why Josephine chose that location either. Now that things have turned out like this, there is no way to change it either.”
“Yes, we can’t do anything to change the past. Josephine is an idiot to leave behind such a big mess. The Clark family will definitely suspect you for Abbie’s disappearance and they’ll definitely make trouble for you. Azalea, you need to have a backup plan!”
“Auntie, what do you mean? Aren’t you going to help me?” A hint of displeasure flashed across Azalea’s face. “Auntie, your relationship with the Clark family has been irreparable since you looked down on Abbie. I’m sure you’re clear about this.”
Meadow said with a smile, “Of course, I know that my relationship with the Clark family can never be fixed. Although you’re not Abbie’s murderer, your scheme led to her disappearance. The Clark family will definitely not show mercy to you after they find you and this is not a small matter. You must inform your parents and tell them about it, just in case.”
Azalea did not dare to reveal this to Callum and Emily. “I can’t do that.”
“Why can’t you tell them? What if Richard does something to you? Azalea, you need to tell your parents so that your dad will arrange someone to protect you.”
“Auntie, aren’t you thinking too much? I’ve never had direct contact with Abbie and most of my conversations with Josephine are on a phone that isn’t mine. How did the Clark family know that I did it? It’s against the law to accuse me without evidence.”
“But you are the first to be suspected by the Clark family. I heard that Richard has gone mad because of Abbie’s disappearance. He won’t care about anyone if he goes crazy. Don’t you have to weigh the consequences? What will you do if something happens to you when Richard suddenly attacks you? You’d better tell your parents.”
Azalea was extremely displeased by Meadow’s words. What did Meadow mean? Did the Davis family not want to protect her?
Azalea didn’t dare to tell Emily and Callum about what she had done. She wouldn’t know how Callum would react if he and Emily knew about her vicious schemes. However, she knew Emily too well. Emily could ignore it if Azalea just committed a few petty crimes, but she would definitely kill Azalea if it involved murder.
She couldn’t let Emily know about this, so she had to drag Meadow and the Davis family into this as well. She had to make sure she was closely associated with the Davis family.
Azalea immediately changed her expression. “Auntie, I will tell my parents about this so you don’t have to worry about it. However, you must protect me well before I tell them.”
“Don’t worry, we will protect you. You can call your parents first and tell them about this.” Meadow urged.
Azalea’s eyes flashed and she called Callum in front of Meadow. However, her calls couldn’t get through even though she tried to call both Callum and Emily.
“My parents may busy now, I can’t get through.”
“Then send them a message.”
“It’s better to talk about this over the phone! I’m afraid that someone will hack into my phone and read my messages.” How could Azalea send a message? “Auntie, don’t worry. I will handle this matter well.”
Meadow knew that she couldn’t push Azalea too hard, so she changed the topic.
Azalea said goodbye after she stayed in the Davis family’s villa for another half an hour. Meadow warmly sent her to the door of the villa after that.
She immediately went back to report to Wayne after she watched Azalea get in the car and leave.
When Wayne heard Azalea had denied killing Abbie, he tried to call Callum and Emily as well. He was relieved when no one answered the phone.
Since Azalea dared to call Callum like this, she must not feel any guilt at all.
Azalea got into a taxi after she left the Davis family and Paisley called her on the way. “Is Abbie dead?”
“I don’t know! I heard that she’s just missing and a group of people have been looking for her,” Azalea replied.
“There’s no need to keep me guessing. Miss Clark, I’m not a fool and I know what you’ve done.” Paisley’s voice was filled with mockery.
“Ms. Anthony, what do you mean?” Azalea pretended to be confused, but she wondered if Paisley’s men had been following her in her heart. She was very cautious that night and she was sure that there was no one following her.
“Alright, stop pretending. You were the one who caused Abbie’s death! You asked my men to send Josephine to the house and went to the beach. yourself I’m sure that Abbie could’ve made it out alive, but she disappeared after you went back to look for her. Azalea, you are quite capable and you even managed to do such a thing!”
“Ms. Anthony, don’t talk nonsense. This involves Abbie’s death!” As soon as Azalea finished her words, the car screeched and she knocked her head on the back of the chair due to inertia.
Her head hurt badly and she heard a serious voice beside her. “We’re the police! We suspect that you’re involved in a missing person case. Please follow us to the police station and cooperate with the investigation!”
