In the meantime, in Ornard’s villa, Aurora was playing with Santhos in the living room. Ornard was sitting on the sofa as he looked at Aurora and Santhos with a satisfied smile on his face.
Aurora was seated on the carpet as she completed a piece of the puzzle for Santhos. She glanced at the time and lowered her voice. “Why hasn’t she come back yet at this hour? Do you know what she was doing?”
“Don’t worry about what she does!” Ornard replied casually.
“How can we possibly ignore her? She lives here. If she doesn’t come back, you have to at least ask questions, don’t you?”
“She is not a helpless three-year-old child. She’ll come back on her own if she wants to.” Ornard didn’t care about Veronica at all. His gaze fell on Aurora’s young and beautiful face.
He said meaningfully, “It’s nice that she isn’t back, lest she gets in our way at home. It’s inconvenient for us to get together with her here!”
Aurora glared at Ornard suggestively. “What are you talking about? Santhos is still here.”
“He doesn’t understand anyway.” Ornard smiled flirtatiously. “If she doesn’t come back tonight, you should come to my room later!”
Santhos was busy with the puzzle when he realized that his mother wasn’t playing with him. Instead, she was talking to Ornard. He voiced his objections unhappily, “Mom, come play with me!”
“Okay, I’ll play with you.”
Then Santhos turned around to look at Ornard. The latter was looking at him with a kind smile. This man was too kind to him. Although Santhos was young, he could differentiate those who were nice to him. He invited Ornard to the game playfully. “Ornard, why don’t you join us? Let’s complete the puzzle together!”
Ornard naturally gave in to his son’s requests since he only got a son at an older age. He immediately agreed to Santhos’s request.
He and Aurora each sat down beside Santhos and began to complete the puzzle. Meanwhile, Veronica opened the door open and entered with an icy face.
She smiled when she saw the harmonious scene in the living room. What a harmonious family!
Everyone was happy, but what about her?
It felt like someone stabbed her with a sharp knife. It hurt a lot.
Today, she went to the hospital where her uterus was removed to find out the truth. Unexpectedly, she ran into the chief surgeon who had performed the operation on her back then.
More than 20 years later, the chief surgeon had already retired. He was here at the hospital for a physical examination today.
Veronica followed the chief surgeon back to her home. She sat in the car at the entrance of the doctor’s house for two hours. She had been hesitating if she should go in and ask those questions.
At that instant, she didn’t really believe that Ornard would set her up. She felt that Paisley was lying to her.
However, what she was afraid of came true. When she mustered the courage to knock on the door, she saw the doctor’s panicked face.
The doctor recognized Veronica. She was scared.
The doctor was a Catholic. Veronica had asked her to swear to her lord and the latter knelt down on the spot.
She confessed everything to Veronica and told her the same thing Paisley said. Veronica was being set up last time. The one who did that was not Emily, but Ornard.
Ornard had viciously killed the unborn child in her womb. He even asked the doctor to remove her uterus.
Veronica blew her top. Her hatred boiled over and she couldn’t help but attack the chief surgeon.
The chief surgeon’s face was covered with blood after being scratched by her. She cursed the surgeon maniacally.
The chief surgeon knelt on the ground and begged for Veronica’s forgiveness. But, how could she forgive her?
She turned out this way because of the chief surgeon. She was so miserable that she even wanted to kill the latter.
The chief surgeon shivered and defended herself. She said that she was being forced by the mastermind, Ornard.
Only then did Veronica come to her senses. Undoubtedly, the mastermind was Ornard. The chief surgeon was just a tool in the process. Ornard wanted to do her harm. If the chief surgeon didn’t help him, he could find the next person for help.
There were so many people in this world who only cared about profit and only profit. There was bound to be someone who would take the bait. As long as Ornard did not give up on scheming against her, she would never be able to escape her fate.
Ornard was the source of all the sins. He was the one who had caused all of this!
She swore that she would take revenge on Ornard for doing this to her! It took her a few hours to calm down. Then only she went home.
As Veronica pushed the door open and walked in, the cozy and harmonious atmosphere in the living room was destroyed. Aurora looked at her with a smile. “Madam, welcome back. Have you had dinner?”
Ornard asked as well, “Where did you go? Why did you come back at this late hour?”
“I went to see a friend!” Veronica answered with a smile despite the excruciating pain in her heart.
“Do you want someone to prepare dinner for you?” Ornard furrowed his brows. Veronica was very familiar with his behavior. Was he unhappy that she had disturbed his blissful family time?
He didn’t feel guilty about her at all. There were only disgust and impatience. Veronica saw everything clearly so she sneered inwardly.
“There’s no need for that. I’ve already eaten.”
As she spoke, she passed through the living room and went upstairs. She could feel the relief emitting from the person behind her, who was sitting on the carpet.
She was upset. Why should they be able to enjoy their lives?
From now on, she would take revenge on them. She desired to take revenge with total disregard for everything. From now on, from tonight onwards, she would treat Ornard just like how he treated her. She wanted Aurora and him to suffer through life.
Veronica turned around the corner of the stairs on the second floor and stopped to look at Ornard with a smile. “I want to talk. Can you come upstairs?”
Ornard was peeved, but he did not refuse her request. He got up and followed her upstairs.
The duo entered Veronica’s room one after the other. Ornard did not close the door. “What do you want to talk about?”
“What else?” Veronica closed the door proactively and put her arm around Ornard’s neck. “I want you to spend the night with me.”
“Veronica, are you kidding? Don’t you know there are other people at home?”
“Of course I know, but isn’t Aurora Gurmisran’s wife? Gurmisran knows about us anyway. Aurora even gave birth to his son, which proves that he trusts her. It doesn’t matter even if she finds out.”
“This… this is absurd!”
“Absurd? Do you really think it’s absurd? Why didn’t you think it was absurd when you pried open my door? Why didn’t you think it was absurd when you asked me to marry Callum and live without a sex life for more than 20 years? Say, Ornard, are you planning on getting rid of me because I’m useless to you now?”
Of course, Ornard would not admit that he was that kind of man. “How could that be? That’s not who I am.”
“If you are not that kind of man, keep me company tonight. Show me that your feelings for me are the same as before! I feel very sad. I have never been so down before. I need you to comfort me.” Veronica grabbed Ornard’s hand and dragged him to the bedside to sit down.
With the truth in her pocket, touching this disgusting and malicious man made her feel sick. However, she suppressed her discomfort. Tonight, she had to start the plan of her revenge. If she had to suffer, so did they.
She reached out to touch his face as she unbuttoned his shirt slowly…
Ornard didn’t come downstairs after he went up. Aurora and Santhos spent a while completing puzzles in the living room but he didn’t go back to them. She stood up and went to the kitchen. Then she made two cups of coffee and went upstairs.
When she approached the staircase, she heard a strange voice. The color drained from her face in an instant.
