Michael went inside after he entered the password and heard Abbie’s cough from the room.
He quickly walked a few steps and pushed open the bedroom door. Abbie, who was on the bed, heard the sound and looked over in shock. When Abbie saw that it was Michael, a look of surprise flashed across her face. “Aren’t you in the hospital? Why are you here?”
“Grandpa has servants to take care of him in the hospital. I’m worried about you, so I came to have a look. Have you taken medicine?”
“Yes!” Abbie nodded.
“Then eat something. I bought you supper you like.” Michael opened up the food in his hand and handed it to Abbie.
Abbie was famished, so she immediately started eating without hesitating and said, “I was about to order takeout. You came in time.”
Michael watched her as she devoured the food and wiped her mouth with a tissue. His voice and expression were gentle as he said, “Slow down. You look like you haven’t eaten in days.”
“I haven’t eaten anything for a whole day,” Abbie complained. “I didn’t feel very comfortable last night. I thought you would come over today, so I wanted to act pitifully and make you feel sorry for me!”
“You silly girl! You are sick, not in a play. What if something were to happen to you? You could make me feel sorry for you anytime, but not when you’re sick. Remember this, don’t ever do this again!”
Abbie snorted and said, “Do you think I’m a fool? Will I do the same thing a second time?”
“Aren’t you a fool?” Michael reached out to tuck Abbie’s hair and watched her eat dotingly.
After Abbie devoured the food, Michael poured her a glass of water. She drank half a glass and held her belly. “Oh, I’m so full!”
“How could you not know how much you can eat? Aren’t you silly?”
“Am I silly? I only ate everything because I didn’t want to waste the food you bought for me. I didn’t want to waste your good intentions.”
Abbie rolled her eyes at Michael and thought of Wayne. “Your grandfather has always been in good health, hasn’t he? Why did he suddenly fall sick?”
“He is old, and his body is not the same as before. Besides, he was stressed out about the company.” Michael did not hide it. “My brothers had transferred all the company funds away. The Davis family is in a dangerous situation now.”
“Huh! How could this be?” Abbie was shocked. “Why did they do it?”
“My brothers have always disliked my mother, but my father is very protective of my mother. My father has also held the chairman position for too long, although he is not competent. That seemed like a threat to my brothers. I think they probably don’t want to let my mother and me off easily.”
Michael sighed. He had no interest in the Davis family’s property, and he always thought that his conscience was clear and had nothing others could criticize. He didn’t expect his two half-brothers to be wary of Stanty and Wayne passing on to him the family’s property. So they came up with this selfish idea.
Abbie’s face was full of worry. “Does that mean the situation is quite dire?”
“Yes, it’s pretty dire. We are in a lot of debt now, but with no money in our accounts… I’ve already borrowed a billion dollars from William, but it’s far from enough.”
“How much more do you need?” Abbie asked.
“A lot more. About ten billion dollars!” Michael replied.
“That much?” Abbie thought if it was a few hundred million more, she could think of ways. She could sell her jewelry and bags. If not, she could ask Valeria for help. Now that Michael still needed ten billion dollars, it was not a small sum.
Abbie frowned and thought for a moment. “How about this? I’ll ask my brother to help you!”
“Abbie, this is not a small sum. It’s ten billion dollars. Even if your brother wants to help me, I don’t think he can. If this amount is given to the Davises, we can’t return it for some time.”
“Let me ask my brother first. Since my brother loves me so much, he will help, won’t he?” Abbie was not sure whether Richard would help or not. After all, the amount was too much. “If it doesn’t work, I will bargain with my brother and pledge all my shares to him.”
Abbie’s words touched Michael. He hugged Abbie and said, “You don’t have to do this. If the Davis family can’t survive this, then let it be. I don’t have much ambition. I can still take care of you in the future with my law firm anyway. It’s just your life can’t be as well off as you are now.”
“If I can be with you, I don’t need anything else. I will be willing to eat at food stalls too.”
“I know! Don’t worry, Abbie. I won’t let you down! It’s getting late. Don’t stay up late when you’re sick. Rest first!”
Abbie lay in Michael’s arms obediently. When Abbie was lying in Michael’s arms, she had taken cold medicine and was not hungry, so she fell asleep soon after being held tenderly in Michae’s arms.
Michael didn’t have a good sleep the night before. As he held Abbie in his arms and smelled the flower scent of her body, he fell asleep as well.
In the early morning, Abbie was covered in sweat and woke up with her skin feeling sticky.
Michael was still asleep. Abbie gently got out of his arms and went to the bathroom.
When Michael heard the sound of water in the bathroom, he opened his eyes. He reached out and touched the side, and Abbie was not in bed. Then he got up and went to the bathroom to knock on the door. When the bathroom door opened, Michael saw Abbie wrapped in a bath towel with a red face, and he swallowed his saliva.
Michael’s morning desire made him reach out to pull Abbie’s bath towel away. Abbie’s eyes widen. “What are you doing?”
“I want you!” Michael’s voice was hoarse, and his eyes were burning with passion.
“I’m sick!” Abbie pushed him away.
“Exercising will help you recover faster!” Michael said as he took action. Abbie was then carried up and put onto the bed.
The passionate time in the room continued for more than an hour before it finally stopped. Abbie’s entire face was flushed red, and her blocked nose actually felt better.
Michael who had his fill chuckled beside her ear. “Do you feel much better now?”
“Don’t talk to me. Hurry up and leave!” Abbie covered her head with the pillow and chased him out.
“I’ll buy you breakfast. You can sleep after having breakfast!”
“No, I’ll order takeout!”
“Be obedient. Let your husband buy you breakfast!”
The word “husband” made Abbie look up at Michael, who was staring at her with his gentle eyes. She wanted to say that she was not married yet, and he was not allowed to call himself her husband. But she couldn’t say it when she saw Michael’s gentle eyes. “Alright. Go to the hospital to see your grandfather!”
Michael then went to buy breakfast for Abbie. After watching Abbie eat breakfast, he got up and went to the hospital.
A few minutes after he left Abbie’s apartment, Abbie also left the apartment with her bag.
She called Richard as she drove. “Bro, are you up?”
“Not yet. Why did you call me so early?”
“I have something urgent to talk to you about. Are you at home or in your private territory? I will come to you immediately.”
“It’s alright. Don’t come to my place. I’ll treat you to breakfast. You can go straight to Wolf Group. I’ll go there right away too.”
