Madelyn didn’t notice the trace of hatred in Azalea’s eyes. She then looked at Emily on the sofa and pretended to call out affectionately. “Emily!”
Emily heard Madelyn’s voice and looked up at her indifferently. “You’re out?”
“Yes! I heard that Azalea was kidnapped. What’s going on? Those damn kidnappers have been arrested, haven’t they?” Madelyn didn’t care about Azalea’s experience at all, but she had to do ask for formalities sake.
“Yes!” Emily said briefly.
“Azalea, you’ve suffered so much!” Madelyn walked to the bed dryly. “Are you still in pain?”
Azalea scoffed. “I didn’t suffer at all. I think you were worse off than me. Being in jail wasn’t a good experience, right?”
“Well… well… it’s okay.” Madelyn blushed.
“Really? Then why don’t you stay for a few more days? You’ve worked so hard for Ms. Floyd and you’re even willing to go to jail for her. Those who know you will think that you’re showing your loyalty, but those who don’t might think that you’re Ms. Floyd’s real mother. I’m pretty sure most mothers wouldn’t even be willing to do this, would they?”
Her words made Madelyn’s face freeze. She thought that Azalea was mocking her out of jealousy and anger, so Madelyn smiled and said, “Isn’t this… for my sister? My sister and Mr. Floyd only have one daughter. Her identity is different, so how can I let her go to jail and ruin her reputation?”
“Is that so? I didn’t know that you were such a kind and loving person that you were willing to sacrifice yourself for Ms. Floyd. Why have you never been so kind to me?”
Madelyn was embarrassed and she felt that there was a hidden meaning in Azalea’s words. Could it be that she knew something?
It was impossible. If Emily knew that she had exchanged their daughters, she would definitely be killed.
Azalea and Emily’s attitudes were quite strange, which made Madelyn feel uncomfortable as she stayed in the room and she just wanted to get out as soon as possible. “Emily, can you come out for a while? I have something to tell you.”
“Let’s talk here.” Emily refused to go out.
“I won’t waste too much of your time and I just have to tell you a few words. Let’s go out and talk. It’s better that way.”
“There are no secrets between you and me, and there is nothing shameful as well. Azalea is not an outsider, so just tell me.” Emily had no intention to go out with her.
Madelyn glanced at Azalea, who was lying on the hospital bed with a sarcastic smile. “Emily, I want to talk to you about Ms. Floyd. Are you sure you want to talk about it here?”
“I’m sure!” A look of impatience flashed across Emily’s face. “Just get to the point and stop beating around the bush!”
“Then… then I’ll tell you. I just went to see Ms. Floyd and realized how thin she is now. She’s even retching!”
Madelyn deliberately emphasized the word ‘retching’, but Emily didn’t react to it and she was still very indifferent. “Shouldn’t she look for a doctor if she’s sick?”
“It’s not. I mean… I mean that Ms. Floyd is not sick and she seems to be pregnant!”
“What?” Emily looked at Madelyn in surprise. “She doesn’t have a boyfriend, does she? How could she be pregnant?”
“Ms. Floyd likes Richard a lot and she went to see him one night. Don’t you know that Richard is extremely romantic? I suspect that she slept with Richard.”
“Is this all based on your suspicion? Do you have any evidence?”
“Yes, I saw hickeys on her body when I came back the next morning. However, she got frustrated when I asked her about it. Isn’t the timecoincidental? Emily, this is not a small matter. You have to tell Mr. Floyd.”
Emily narrowed her eyes. “I won’t. She can tell it herself.”
“How can you not tell him? You are her biological mother and you have to think for her sake, right?” Madelyn persuaded.
“Why? What do you think I should do for her?”
“She is pregnant with a random stranger’s child. Richard’s family background is a good match for the Floyd family. I think this matter should be settled immediately and the Clark family should decide on her marriage with Richard. Her reputation will not be damaged this way, nor will the Floyd family’s.”
“The Floyd family’s reputation has nothing to do with me. As for her reputation, it’s very simple because she can just get an abortion. Anyway, no one will pay attention to it,” Emily replied coldly.
Madelyn thought that Emily would be as anxious as her when she heard that Angel was pregnant, and she would take the initiative to call Callum to find a way to deal with it. Emily’s indifference made Madelyn dumbfounded. “Emily, you can’t ignore her. Anyway, isn’t Ms. Floyd your daughter?”
Meanwhile, Azalea heard the conversation between Madelyn and Emily clearly on the hospital bed. It was great news that Angel, that bitch, was pregnant with Richard’s child.
She hated Abbie and Richard. Meadow also said that it would be a fatal blow to the Clark family if Richard married an impostor. Azalea had to add fuel to the fire about Angel’s pregnancy. She wanted Richard to end up marrying Angel and make a fool of the Clark family in the future.
Azalea thought of this and immediately said, “Why don’t you tell the Floyd family about Ms. Floyd’s pregnancy?”
Emily looked at Azalea with a questioning look and Azalea said hypocritically, “How can we let her make a scene like this and embarrass the Floyd family? Besides, she’s the heiress of the Floyd family and this will definitely affect the Floyd family’s reputation.”
She said this to remind Emily of the Floyd family’s reputation, but Emily did not care about that at all.
However, she reluctantly agreed when she saw how much Azalea wanted to return to the Floyd family. “I’ll tell Callum about this!”
Madelyn breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Emily had agreed. Since the task had been completed, she could go back and report it to Angel in peace.
Angel originally hated Madelyn to the extreme, but she felt that the older lady was still useful since she helped her with this matter. She treated Madelyn much better because of this and her tone was much softer.
“You’ve worked hard! Have a rest and eat something!”
Madelyn was flattered. “Thank you, Miss! What do you want to eat now? I’ll prepare it for you.”
“I don’t have an appetite!” Angel shook her head. How could she be in the mood to eat when things were so uncertain and she had to deal with the Floyd family?
“Miss, are you worried that your father will scold you?” Madelyn was not a complete fool and she could read Angel’s mind.
“How can he not scold me?” Angel replied impatiently.
“President Floyd is obedient to my sister. Miss, why don’t you go to my sister and make her pity you?”
“What? Will she even help me?” Angel asked.
“My sister is very gentle and soft-hearted. If you take the initiative to complain to her, I think she will speak up for you in front of President Floyd.”
Angel also thought it was a good idea when she heard Madelyn’s suggestion. She nodded and said, “That’s a good idea. What do you think I should do to make her speak up for me in front of my father?”
“You should make yourself look miserable. Hold her hand and cry when you go in. You need to cry no matter what she says and don’t argue with her. My sister is the most soft-hearted person I know and she will definitely believe your act!”
The two discussed for a while before Angel was ready to meet Emily, but Callum suddenly came over before they walked out.
