Chapter 1231 Don’t Deserve It

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

The document was about a high-level management meeting to determine who would take over the construction project. Paisley read through the whole report and saw that everyone on the board of directors had disagreed to take over the project.
Henry’s stance also changed with so many executives against it. The final result of the meeting was that they had rejected to take over the city construction project.
Paisley’s expression turned extremely ugly after she read the whole report.
Paisley’s father had never rejected to take over the project in front of her and he acted as if he was very interested. This made Paisley always think that it was a piece of cake to persuade her father to take over the construction project.
Paisley had never expected that his father would directly hold a high-level meeting without discussing it with her.
After she read the contents of the meeting again, she grabbed the phone on the table and dialled a foreign’s number.
Her father’s phone was turned off. Paisley looked at the time and realized that it was four a. m. in the US, so her father should be resting.
It was impossible for her to get through, so she threw the phone away irritably. What should she do now?
She had promised Ornard that she would persuade her father to accept the project. What would Ornard do to her if her father refused?
Would she still be able to attain her dream of becoming his wife?
Paisley could not help but panic as she thought about it. She had to think of a way right away. She had to either convince her father or Ornard to change their minds.
It was not easy to convince Henry to change his mind and Ornard was not easy to fool.
What should she do now? Paisley was extremely anxious.
Fandrey arrived at Wolf Group hotel early at six o’clock in the evening.
William arrived after Fandrey waited in the private room for more than ten minutes.
Fandrey immediately glanced behind William enter and asked when he didn’t see Braelynn, “Where’s Braelynn? Does she not want to see me?”
“No! Grandpa, sit down and calm down. Braelynn and Valeria will come together.”
“That’s good!” Fandrey heaved a sigh of relief and sat down.
William looked at the few bags placed next to him. “Grandpa, what did you bring?”
“I came to see my granddaughter, so I naturally have to bring a meeting gift. These are all for Braelynn.”
“What did you buy? William was curious.
“Jewellery. William, help me see if Braelynn likes it or not. I can arrange for someone to change it if she doesn’t like it.”
Braelynn helped Valeria to the door when she happened to hear Fandrey’s words and stopped in her tracks.
William laughed and said, “I think all the girls like jewellery. I remember that Valeria likes jewellery very much. She’ll have a big smile on her face whenever I buy a piece for her.”
“Valeria is different because you two are a couple. She will be happy regardless of the present. I’m different because I’m a grandfather and I’ve been so incompetent. My granddaughter has been alone for so many years and I don’t know how much she has suffered. It’s your grandmother’s fault. We were so hard-headed. If we had been willing to give in, Braelynn wouldn’t have to suffer like this.” Fandrey really felt sorry for Braelynn.
“Just thinking about it makes me sad. I don’t know how she got through all these years. My real granddaughter suffered hardships outside while Ornard’s daughter lived such a luxurious life in my house and enjoyed the love of her family. I really don’t deserve to be a grandfather!”
Fandrey’s voice was choked with sobs. Braelynn stood at the door with the help of Valeria and heard it clearly. She didn’t have any thoughts about this meeting, but she was touched by Fandrey’s words.
Valeria held Braelynn’s hand and pulled her into the private room as she greeted Fandrey sweetly. “Hello, Grandpa!”
Fandrey was sighing with emotion when he heard Valeria’s greeting. Then, he immediately stood up when he saw Braelynn and Valeria walking hand in hand.
He took the initiative to greet Braelynn. “Braelynn!”
Braelynn’s footsteps stopped when Fandrey called her. She saw the kind smile on Fandrey’s face and his loving gaze towards her.
This kind of love was something she had never experienced before, so she was at a loss as to what to do. She stood there stiffly and looked at Fandrey. while he smiled and walked towards her. “Braelynn! Let me take a look at you!”
He reached out and touched Braelynn’s head. She immediately glanced at William, who looked at her with a smile. She wanted to push Fandrey’s hand away, but she stopped herself because of William’s smile.
Fandrey reached out and grabbed Braelynn’s hand when he saw that she did not resist his touch. “Come, sit here!”
Braelynn was stiffly pulled to the table by Fandrey and sat down. He didn’t know how to coax her at all. It was okay if it was a child, but Braelynn was already an adult. He took all the dresses he had prepared and handed them to Braelynn. “This is for you. You can see if you like it or not, and I’ll change them if you’re not happy with them!”
Braelynn looked at the boxes in front of her and the corners of her mouth twitched. Valeria reached out and opened a box next to her. “Ah! What a beautiful pink diamond! It suits Braelynn so well!”
Valeria took the pink diamonds and put it in Braelynn’s hand. “Braelynn, it’s beautiful, isn’t it?”
“Yes!” Braelynn spat out a word and did not say anything else.
“I’ll help you put it on!” Valeria took the pink diamond necklace from Braelynn’s hand and helped her put it on her neck.
“Braelynn is so beautiful, you look just like your parents!” Fandrey praised from the bottom of his heart.
Braelynn lowered her head. She had already found out about Callum and Emily from William. If it weren’t for Fandrey and Deborah’s objections, her parents would have definitely been together and she probably wouldn’t have been abandoned.
Now that Fandrey said that she looked like her mother and father, Braelynn wanted to ask why he had opposed her parents from being together.
This question would definitely change the atmosphere. She wasn’t afraid of making Fandrey sad, nor was she afraid of embarrassing him. She just didn’t want to make things hard for William and Valeria.
William and Valeria were so kind to her, so she didn’t want to ruin their relationship. Thus, Braelynn tried her best to control herself and didn’t ask any questions.
Fandrey could see that Braelynn was distant and indifferent, but he didn’t care about it and took the initiative to serve her some soup. During the meal, William and Valeria kept trying to liven up the atmosphere.
Braelynn finally put down her chopsticks after she struggled to finish the meal. “I’m full! I have something else to do right now, please excuse me!”
