Deborah had some faith in the other party after she read the message. “Who are you exactly?”
Naturally, the other party would not expose their identity and they wrote a long paragraph. “You don’t have to know who I am. Emily didn’t have any intention to let Madelyn become a servant in your house and she didn’t know about this at all. Madelyn was the one who spent all of her effort to enter the Floyd family because she wanted to take care of her daughter. By the way, Emily has never liked Angel and she has always favoured her own daughter, Azalea. You can come out and meet me if you’re interested. When the time comes, I will give you all the evidence I have.”
The other party sent an address to Deborah. It was the place where the driver found Deborah unconscious after he sent her there.
“Grandma went out to meet the sender of this letter. Who could it be? What did they say to make grandma faint?”
William went over to look at Deborah’s call history while he spoke and saw that she had made a call before she fainted. Callum’s expression changed when he saw the number. “This is Emily’s phone number. This person actually has Emily’s number and she said so many things to my mother. Could my mother have believed all these made-up stories and fainted after she argued with Emily?”
Callum pursed his lips and walked to the side to call Emily.
Emily picked it up impatiently after the phone rang for a while. “Callum, what are you doing? Has your family lost their mind!?”
He had suspected that Emily had something to do with Deborah’s fainting, so he lost his temper when Emily scolded him as soon as he called her. He said harshly, “Emily, what did you say to my mother just now?”
It was the first time that Emily had heard Callum talking to her so harshly. She felt uncomfortable and immediately retorted, “Why don’t you ask your mother yourself?”
“My mom can’t tell me because she’s in a coma!”
Emily could not believe that Deborah was unconscious. “How is that possible? How can your mother be so weak?”
Emily didn’t believe it, so Callum emphasized, “Emily, my mother is in the hospital now. She has just been rescued and she’s is still in a coma. If you don’t believe me, you can come to the hospital to see for yourself.”
Emily was silent for a moment after she confirmed that Deborah was unconscious. “Your mother called me and told me that Angel was in danger. She asked me to help her, but I said that I was busy and I had nothing to do with the affairs of the Floyd family. She scolded me for being vicious and shameless. I hung up after I gave her a short reply, so how could I make her faint?”
“Are you sure you only said those things to her?” Callum asked.
Emily didn’t want to continue the conversation. “Anyway, what I said wouldn’t make your mother faint and it must be because of something else. You can ask her when she wakes up. Callum, I don’t want to have anything to do with your family at all, so please keep your family away from me, okay?”
Callum sneered when he heard Emily’s words and said, “Do you know why my mother called you? Someone sent a letter to my mother saying that Angel is not a member of the Floyd family, but Madelyn’s daughter. She said that Azalea is our daughter and asked my mother to call you to confirm it. My mother called you because she believed what the other party said to her.”
“What… nonsense!” Emily’s stance wavered after Callum said that someone knew the truth about Azalea and Angel.
Callum caught onto this because he was very sensitive. “Emily, is this person telling the truth?”
Emily’s mind went blank. Who was the one who exposed this? She thought that no one would mention what had happened in the past after so many years had passed. Emily was speechless now that it was suddenly brought up again.
She was not good at lying, so she tried her best to cover it up, “You can’t trust this person.”
Callum’s heart sank when he heard Emily’s denial. He knew her too well and she hated it the most when others framed her. If this was not true, Emily would have denied it a long time ago. How could she let him explain so much? Callum became more suspicious when he recalled Emily’s indifference to Angel and he directly said, “Really? Then why are you so indifferent to Angel? I’ve never seen you care for her and love her at all.”
“That’s because… that’s because we haven’t seen each other for so many years and I don’t have any familial ties with her anymore. After all, I didn’t have the chance to raise her and the only thing I did was give birth to her.” Emily retorted guiltily.
“I don’t think you’re such a heartless person and you would even help the beggars on the road. Why are you so heartless to your own child?” Callum questioned.
Emily felt extremely hurt when she heard this. She sneered and said, “What? What right do you have to question me for being heartless? Didn’t your family cause all this? Your parents mercilessly separated me from my daughter and took her away. How dare you question me?”
“I’m sorry for you and it’s all my fault, but I want to know whether that person is telling the truth or not. Is it because you hate the Floyd family? Did you let Madelyn swap our child because you hate me?”
“Are you crazy?” Emily was so guilty that she couldn’t defend herself confidently.
“I’m not! Since someone said it, it proves that it’s not groundless. Emily, I know you too well. If this is not true, you won’t let me rattle on like this. Your reaction makes me believe that this story is true. In order to prove Angel and Azalea’s identities, I will personally do a DNA test on both of them.”
Callum was not someone who would joke around and Emily knew that he was a man of his word. She was taken aback and she knew what the DNA test result would be.
She couldn’t stop him at all. It would be fine if it was just Callum alone, but the key point was the person who sent the letter. Emily didn’t know the identity of the person, how much they knew, or what their purpose was.
How could Ornard and Veronica let Azalea off if they knew about her identity?
Emily didn’t have the ability to stop Ornard and Veronica, but the Floyd family could protect Azalea’s safety. Moreover, Azalea had always wanted to live a wealthy life, so Emily could admit the truth just to fulfil Azalea’s wish.
Emily sighed, “You don’t have to do the test because I’ll tell you everything! Angel is indeed not your daughter. Her mother is Madelyn, and Azalea is our daughter!”
