Richard didn’t know how to react when he saw this. He then quickly rushed up and grabbed Abbie’s microphone before throwing it aside. “Stop! Stop yelling. Don’t you know that your voice will be damaged?”
“Richard!” Abbie leaned on Richard and said in a hoarse voice. “I’m hungry. Please treat me and Valeria to a meal.”
“Alright, I’ll treat you to dinner.” Richard reached out and touched Abbie’s face while he said softly, “Does it still hurt?”
“It hurts! How can it not?” Abbie leaned on Richard coquettishly, “But I am very happy today! I managed to beat up that bitch, Azalea. It was so satisfying!”
“You!” Richard shook his head. He was still worried about Abbie on the way here, but he was relieved when he saw her like this. Although Abbie was furious, she would be fine as long as Valeria was around. It was no exaggeration to say that Valeria’s position in Abbie’s heart was even higher than Richard or her mother.
Richard looked at Valeria and smiled. “Stop playing with your phone, or else William will scold you again if he finds out.”
Valeria stretched and stood up. “Richard, it’s rare to see you here today. I thought you were going to scold Abbie.”
“Why should I scold her? Shouldn’t I spoil my sister instead?”
Valeria raised her eyebrows. “That’s more like it! You’re acting like a real elder brother. Let’s go and eat!”
When the three of them walked out of the room, Richard called William and said, “I’m with Abbie and Valeria. Why don’t you come over for dinner if you have nothing else to do?”
“Okay, tell me the location!” William agreed without hesitation.
William finally arrived after they placed their order in the private room.
Valeria smiled when she saw him and pulled out the chair next to her. “Hubby, you’re here! Sit down, I ordered the dishes you like. Have some tea first!”
Then, Valeria got up and poured tea for William in person while Abbie and Richard looked at each other. Richard muttered, “How can you act this way? Is it reasonable for you to let your pregnant wife serve you like this?”
William glanced at Richard and reached out to hold Valeria’s hand. “Enough, stop acting. Just tell me what bad things you’ve done today.”
“What can I do? ‘m pregnant, and I can’t do anything bad even if I wanted to.” Valeria smiled and said, “However, something really happened today. I insulted Angel and I think she would’ve complained to everyone back home. Can you deal with Grandpa and Grandma to patch things up?”
“You’ve always been bold all along, so why are you so cautious this time?” William smiled and picked up his cup. “Don’t worry, I’ve already called them.”
“You’re the best! I’m so happy I married a good husband who will arrange everything for me.” Valeria praised with a smile while Abbie said hoarsely, “Okay, don’t show off.”
William looked over and asked when he heard Abbie’s hoarse voice, “What’s happened?”
“She sang too much, but she’ll be fine after she eats some medicine. It’s all right.” Richard continued.
William shook his head with a smile. “How can that happen? You guys sure know how to play! You didn’t scare the people at the karaoke bar, did you?”
“Of course not. Abbie is a really good singer. In short, someone like you wouldn’t be able to understand our joy when we sing our hearts out.”
“Alright, you’ve said enough!” William pinched Valeria’s face and looked at her dotingly. “Let’s eat first. You should hurry back and rest after we’re done here. You’ve played too much again today. Even if you’re not tired, our children will be tired. I’ll massage your legs when we get home.”
Richard rolled his eyes when he heard William’s cringy words. “Just eat. I’ve been unwilling to eat with you ever since you got married. I’ll get triggered every time we have a meal together.”
They unexpectedly met Paisley at the door after they finished eating as she was walking closely with an old man. Paisley’s face stiffened when she bumped into them, but she did not stop walking.
Valeria looked at Paisley and the old man repeatedly. Paisley could clearly see the sarcasm in Valeria’s eyes and she wanted nothing more than to run away.
Richard whistled and said, “Isn’t this Ms. Anthony? Is this Mr. Laban beside you? No, he doesn’t look like this. Is this your grandfather?”
Richard’s words were merciless, which made Paisley’s face heat up immediately. It was impossible for her to avoid them, so she swallowed heavily. “You must be joking, Richard. He is not my grandfather, but my friend.”
“Hm? Ms. Anthony, you have good taste! Congratulations!” Richard laughed.
Paisley’s face was burning with displeasure. She stole a glance at William and thought that she would see some concern on his face. However, she was overthinking.
William’s gaze did not linger on her at all because he only had eyes for Valeria. Paisley watched as William wrapped his arms around Valeria’s waist and walked past her as if he was protecting something valuable.
Paisley’s heart ached after she was ignored. It was ridiculous. She once thought that she could be with William that she committed vicious schemes, but her hopes were crushed in the end. She was completely insignificant in William’s heart.
Paisley entered the private room with a feeling of loss and resentment. When they sat down, the old man next to her smiled flatteringly. “What would you like to eat, Ms. Anthony?”
“Get out of my way!” Paisley glared at the old man furiously.
The old man smiled slyly. “Today is the last day we’ll be together before we go our separate ways. You don’t have to be so angry. I didn’t do anything to you, did I?”
“Didn’t you hear me when I asked you to get out of the way? If you want to eat something, eat it yourself. I’ll only put on an act with you when we’re outside. I don’t have time to entertain you when we’re alone! Get lost!”
Paisley didn’t care about the old man at all since he was just one of Ornard’s underlings. He could insult her in private, but she had no choice but to act intimate with him when they were in public because she was afraid of Ornard.
She had no reason to continue to pretend in private. She heard that Ornard had a car accident, but she knew nothing about the details and she could not contact him either. She had no idea what to do next.
Paisley dialled Ornard impatiently, but the phone rang and no one answered. Why was he ignoring her calls?
Paisley had to send a message. “How are you now? Why can’t I call you? Why aren’t you replying to my messages? Do you know that I’m very worried about you? Why don’t you tell me what you’re going to do next?”
Meanwhile, Veronica had brought breakfast when she saw Ornard’s cell phone ring. She then glanced at it and her expression became cold when she saw Paisley’s name on the screen.
