Gurmisran felt helpless upon hearing about it. What did this matter have anything to do with him? It was a fact that he had known about it all along. However, it was impossible for him to tell Veronica the truth as she was an utterly stern person. “I have no idea about their relationship. It would be bizarre if Mr. Laban tells me every detail about him, wouldn’t it?”
“Fine, you are indeed unaware of them hooking up together then! I shall f*cking believe in you. Well, you shall now give me some ideas. How should I explain things to Callum? Can I tell him that the person in the video, who was being stripped naked was not Ornard after all? How could Callum accept such a despicable excuse when his eyesight is perfectly fine?” Veronica roared at the top of her voice.
“Well… Erm… I suggest you tell him that the video was being photoshopped. That naked man in the video was definitely not Mr. Laban. You can deceive Callum by telling him that this was a fake video done by the enemy of Mr. Laban to ruin his reputation.”
“Are you assuming that Callum is a brainless person?”
“Veronica, it was out of Mr. Laban’s expectation for things to turn out this way. You and Mr. Laban are on the same boat from the very beginning and this is not the time for you both to get into a fight. We should think of a way to get through this hiccup together. Besides, Mr. Laban will be arriving in the United States real soon. I think you can deceive Callum by telling him that Ornard is currently not feeling well! Mr. Laban should have safely landed there when Callum instructs his men to look into this matter. We can then ask Mr. Laban to claim that he is indeed feeling under the weather to put an end to this crisis.”
“Haha! It is so easy for you to say that! What if Callum refuses to believe me?”
“Paisley has already made the necessary arrangements. She will clarify the situation alongside a man that looks like Mr. Laban. Besides, the company has also issued an official statement regarding this matter. The Floyd family would be out of ideas to question us as long as Mr. Laban makes his appearance in the United States. Veronica, I would greatly appreciate it if you follow my suggestions accordingly. Our current priority is to avoid the Floyd family being suspicious of us. Veronica, thank you so much for your cooperation in advance!”
Veronica knew that Gurmisran had a solid point. She and Ornard were on the same team after all. There was nothing that she could do despite her feeling upset about the current situation.
Veronica hung up the phone call with Gurmisran. She calmed herself down before eventually contacting Callum once again.
Callum picked up the phone and asked coldly, “What happened?”
“Callum, I read the trending news that you have mentioned and I was taken aback by it as well. However, Ornard did not return to the country as he has been in the United States all along. The man that appeared in the breaking news is obviously not my brother!”
“What? Are you implying that I am unable to tell what exactly Ornard looks like?” Callum chuckled.
“No, that is not what I have meant. Callum, please listen to my explanation!” Veronica began spewing nonsense, “Callum, the person that you have seen in the video was indeed my brother. However, someone has edited him into that video just to stir up trouble as an attempt to frame him.”
“Who is it then?”
“I don’t know yet, but I reckon that the culprit is most probably the enemy of Ornard. You should be well aware that he is not on good terms with many people in the business world. There are so many of them who are trying to get rid of Ornard and this is clearly an act to humiliate him. The Laban family’s company has also lost out on tens of billions due to this mess. The culprit who had plotted against my brother is indeed a pain in the neck!”
“He was being framed, wasn’t he? Tell Ornard to give me a call then. I would like to have a word with him!”
“Callum, my brother could not contact you for the time being. He is currently in the hospital.”
“What? He still can speak despite him being hospitalized, right? Why is he unable to call me then?” Callum asked sarcastically.
“No, it is just that he was met with a car accident yesterday. He is now unconscious in the hospital.”
“He was in an accident at such a coincidental timing? Alright, thanks for the heads up. Which hospital is he currently at? I shall arrange for someone to visit him!”
Veronica then gave Callum the address of the hospital as requested. She swiftly dialed Ornard’s phone once again but it did not get through. It was obvious that Ornard had not landed in the United States yet.
What should Veronica do now?
It would be ridiculous for her to find someone pretending to be Ornard, wouldn’t it?
This was, however, the only way out. Otherwise, it would be game over should Callum’s men fail to get ahold of Ornard in the hospital.
Veronica was busy preparing things regarding the said accident of Ornard. On the other hand, Callum glanced at Fandrey after hanging up the phone call. “Are the Laban siblings assuming that we are indeed brainless human beings by coming up with such a lame excuse?”
“She has gone too far. Well then, we shall fulfill her request since she kept saying that Ornard has been met in a car accident,” Fandrey said with a sneer on his face.
“Dad, what are you implying?”
“You shall instruct a few men to lay a finger on Ornard during his way from the airport. We shall let him experience the real deal of passing out and eventually being hospitalized. He would receive a great piece of news after regaining his consciousness.”
Callum knew that Fandrey was pissed off. Hence, he did not bother to persuade Fandrey in changing his mind and said, “Noted. I shall arrange things accordingly!”
“Wait a minute as I would like to contact William in obtaining his permission. He is the mastermind behind this situation after all. It would be unwise of me to act whatever I please to avoid impacting his plan negatively.”
Fandrey swiftly called William and he said, “William, I was being told that Ornard was hospitalized due to a car accident according to Veronica. She lied to us by saying that someone was intending to lay a finger on Ornard. I have discussed this matter with Callum just now. We would like to make their wish come true since Ornard desperately wants to be hospitalized. What do you think?”
“Sure! To be honest, grandpa, I have already guessed that Ornard will use falling sick as an excuse to deceive us. I have already arranged my men in waiting for Ornard on his way back home.”
“How could you be so quick on your feet?” Fandrey was extremely taken aback and queried further, “How do you know that Ornard would want to pretend to be ill?”
“The most efficient way to mislead us would be for Ornard to feel under the weather, right?” William chuckled and continued speaking, “We should assist Ornard by sending him to the hospital to recuperate himself as a means to make his dream come true. It would be an entirely new ballgame in the country once he regains his consciousness.”
Ornard’s flight had landed safely at ten in the evening. He got onto the designated vehicle that was scheduled to pick him up as soon as he exited the airport. He let out a sigh before switching on his mobile phone. It was seen that Veronica had bombarded him with a series of phone calls.
Ornard sighed and eventually contacted her, “Veronica!”
“You have finally answered my phone call! What on earth is happening between you and Paisley? Didn’t you tell me that you and that bitch are merely just working partners? How could you eventually sleep with her? Ornard, you are indeed one of a kind! You must give me a reasonable explanation regarding this matter!”
“Veronica, I promise to tell you the entire picture. Please calm down and keep your cool!”
“How can I not be pissed off? Are you indicating that I have no right to be mad upon the current circumstances?” Veronica questioned further, “Do you know what you have done? You are still that shameless despite old age! You have been framed just for the sake of being together with Paisley, that bitch. The embarrassment that you have received is indeed out of this world! By the way, Callum has contacted me just now. Have you thought about how to deal with the Floyd family?”
“Veronica, I have discussed things with Gurmisran a while ago. I shall pretend to be sick for now and we will soon figure out our next move.”
“Haha, you have made up your mind to feel under the weather, haven’t you? I have told Callum that you are currently suffering from a coma due to a car accident and you are now being hospitalized. You shall pretend to be unconscious then!” A sharp braking sound came from the other end after Veronica finished speaking in an agitated tone.
There was soon an earth-shattering bang being heard. Veronica’s ear felt painful due to the deafening commotion. She asked in a surprised tone, “What is happening?”
There was no response from Ornard on his end. Veronica voiced out her query once again but soon realized that Ornard had hung up the phone.
A wave of panic soon lingered around her mind. Was Ornard really met with a car accident?
