Their eyes met and Callum’s eyes were still as warm as before. “I promised you before, and I’ve been keeping my promise ever since. You are the only woman I have in my life, and I’ve only loved you!”
When Callum was with her, he had promised that she was the only love in his life and he would never abandon her.
Emily gave herself to Callum because she believed him. She used to think that they would never be apart, but he abandoned her and married Veronica in the end.
Callum had broken his promise from the moment he married Veronica. Now that more than 20 years had passed, Emily would never believe him even if he told her that he had been keeping this promise all these years.
She would never forget the moment Veronica told her that she was pregnant with Callum’s child, or the moment when Veronica was sent to a doctor after she lost a tremendous amount of blood. She would never forget what the doctor said that day.
When Emily thought about the past events that had happened more than 20 years ago, she still felt a stabbing pain in his chest. Was he still going to lie to her at this point in time?
She really couldn’t blame Callum for choosing Veronica, but he lied to her. Emily didn’t agree with him and she felt her whole body fill with hatred.
“Well, I will acknowledge her if you can keep your wife and parents from troubling me. But Mr. Floyd, I have to tell you in advance. She and I became strangers from the day you took her away from me. I don’t think you will see any filial piety between us anytime soon.”
Callum was relieved when Emily promised to recognize Angel as her daughter, and he did not believe that Emily would despise Angel.
Emily sounded fierce, but she was so soft-hearted and kind. Angel was their child, so she would definitely change her attitude.
Emily and Azalea left first after dinner while Callum and Angel stayed in the box.
Callum said calmly, “Emily is your biological mother. Have you already guessed this?”
“Yes, I have.”
“Do you like her?” Callum asked again.
“I like her! She’s very gentle and beautiful. I can see that she’s very kind.” Angel was blatantly lying.
Callum was very satisfied with Angel’s attitude, and the way he looked at her was much softer.
“Angel, it’s not that your mother doesn’t love you, but she had no other choice. Back then, I was forced to separate from her because of some reason and she gave birth to you after that. Grandma and Grandpa didn’t want you to be out of the family, so they forcefully brought you back. I’ve always felt sorry for your mother, but she is willing to recognize you now. I hope that you can treat her better and compensate her for me.”
“I know. I can see that she has been living a miserable life these years and she is my mother. Since our bond cannot be broken, I will be good to her. Dad, tell me what she likes and I will compensate her well.”
Angel did not feel any hatred and promised Callum.
Callum was very happy in his heart. He was already disappointed with Angel before this, but her good attitude made him look at her in a different light.
Perhaps she chose the wrong path because she was just too young. If she was educated well, she would be able to repent.
Emily and Azalea seemed to be a little absent-minded on the way back. Azalea had been secretly looking at Emily and she finally said, “Emily, Mr. Floyd and you…”
“He used to be my lover.” Emily sighed slightly. She didn’t want to recognize Angel as her angel, but now she had to. She couldn’t keep Azalea in the dark, so she had to tell her something.
“Azalea, that… Ms. Floyd is our daughter.”
It was difficult for Emily to say the following words. She could not recognize her real daughter, but she had to claim someone else’s daughter instead. This made Emily extremely uncomfortable.
Azalea, however, did not feel the same. She was relieved to hear Emily take the initiative to talk about her worries like this.
She immediately asked, “Auntie, did Mr. Floyd bring your daughter here today to meet you?”
“Sort of!”
Azalea could feel Emily’s sadness. She really wanted to know what Emily was thinking, so she asked, “Will you accept her?”
“Azalea, do you think I should?” Emily asked.
“I… I think you should. After all, it’s undeniable that Ms. Floyd is your flesh and blood. It is very worthy of a celebration for a mother and daughter to finally find each other again.”
“Do you think that Ms. Floyd is willing to recognize me?” Emily asked again.
“She should. She used to be arrogant and indifferent to me, but she was very nice to me tonight. I think it was all because of you. Aunty, as long as Ms. Floyd does not reject you, isn’t it good for you to enjoy some happiness after both of you reconcile with each other?”
Azalea desperately needed Emily to recognize Angel. As long as Emily and Angel could get along well, it would definitely bring her some benefits.
Emily closed her eyes. She knew Azalea too well and had already guessed the younger girl’s thoughts.
She let out a sigh of relief. “Alright, I will recognize her!”
When Callum took Angel to see Emily at Wolf Group dinner, this matter naturally couldn’t be hidden from Marcus. He even paid extra attention to the situation on that day, and quickly reported it to William.
“The person who served the dishes said that the atmosphere in the box was good. Although it was not harmonious, it was not awkward either. Angel also took the initiative to serve Ms. Poland some food and she tried to suck up to her. Azalea and Angel left the room halfway through to give Mr. Floyd and Ms. Poland some space. Yan. They stayed alone for 15 minutes.”
Why would Angel gain Emily’s favour? It didn’t seem quite right for someone as vicious as Angel, who wouldn’t curry favour with others. Angel must have a hidden motive.
William thought about it and Marcus added, “Azalea and Angel have gotten along quite well too. When the two left the room and talked in the hallway, they looked very harmonious. I guess that Mr. Floyd wants Ms. Poland and Angel to be reunited.”
“That’s possible.” William agreed.
“Mr. Howard, if we let them do this, Angel would put on an act and she won’t make things difficult for Azalea. This goes against your original plan. Do you want to interfere with this?”
William pondered for a moment. “How about this? I’ll ask Grandpa first.”
Valeria heard it clearly and she immediately asked when she saw William hang up the phone, “Dear, what should we do now? Angel is an impostor and she’s not Emily’s child at all. Will there be any trouble if they recognize each other?”
William touched Valeria’s head and said, “This is beyond my expectations. I thought they wouldn’t recognize each other, but I didn’t expect my uncle to do this. I’ll see what Grandpa wants to do. If there’s no other way, I’ll reveal Angel’s identity to him.”
