Azalea swiftly greeted Angel upon noticing her, “Angel, hello there!”
“Miss Clark, I did not expect to see you here,” Angel replied with a smile on her face. She then looked at Helen and asked, “May I know who is she?”
“She is Helen, whereas this is Angel!” Azalea immediately introduced both of them to each other.
“Helen, a pleasure to meet you!” Angel politely elaborated further, “I’ve heard about you being extremely gorgeous and the rumor is indeed true. Strangers may assume that you’re just in your early thirties.”
Angel was clealy exaggerating stuff but women would always be pleased upon hearing such praises. Helen chuckled and asked, “Angel, are you here to shop around as well?”
“Yes, I would like to purchase a gift for my grandmother to surprise her. I lingered around a few places but I have yet to find one that is appealing. I’m having a hard time as I’m not confident in picking something that my grandmother would like,” Angel replied with a troubled look on her face.
Azalea swiftly chimed in and suggested, “Helen has a knack for selecting the best gift. Why don’t you seek her opinion then?”
“That’s great to hear! Helen, could you please help me out?” Angel humbly asked.
Abbie was neither a gossip person nor had a chance to tell her mother about the awful things that Angel had done. Hence, it was logical for Helen to be unaware of Angel’s true personality.
Angel had a bright smile on her face accompanied by a gentle voice when speaking. Helen immediately agreed as she assumed that Angel had no ulterior motives, “Sure! I can give you some ideas but I am not sure about your grandmother’s preference. The best that I can do is to pick out the things that I am fond of. However, the final decision will always be on you.”
“Helen, I’m feeling very grateful that you could spare some time to help me out! Thank you so much!” Angel replied in a courteous manner.
Helen would have a good impression upon encountering a well-mannered and cultured person. Angel was undoubtedly a filial person as she took the initiative in buying some gifts for Deborah. She had successfully left a good impression on Mrs. Clark.
The three of them began on a shopping spree. Angel listened to Helen’s opinion and eventually selected a dress, a silk scarf, and a ruby brooch for Deborah.
Angel felt utterly grateful for Helen for lending her a helping hand. She then insisted on gifting Helen a ruby brooch as a token of appreciation.
Helen eventually accepted the present as Angel was being very persistent about her decision.
It was impossible for Helen to blindly accept the gift as she was not a petty and stingy person. She then purchased a bracelet for Angel to return the kind gesture.
They were increasingly comfortable with each other. Angel extended her invitation to have an afternoon tea with the both of them after exiting the shopping mall. Angel and Helen exchanged their WhatsApp contact numbers during the afternoon tea session.
Angel politely bid goodbye and left after the afternoon tea session had come to an end. She even promised to treat Helen to a meal when their schedules were free.
Azalea was feeling puzzled upon seeing her leaving. It was Angel’s idea in instructing Azalea to go shopping with Helen.
Angel proposed this plan as she claimed in needing to settle some matters. Azalea initially assumed that Angel wanted to tell Helen about the current situation of both Michael and Abbie. However, Angel did not mention a single word of that matter throughout their time together.
Did Angel just want to go shopping and enjoy an afternoon tea session?
Azalea could not wrap her head around Angel’s motive. On the other hand, Helen was increasingly fond of Angel and she said, “Angel is a well-behaved and considerate person. The Floyd family has indeed raised her well.”
Azalea was not foolish enough to expose Angel’s ulterior motives. She went with the flow and put a few good words in for Angel, “You’re absolutely right. Angel is indeed charming! She has always left a good impression on others.”
Angel took the presents that she had bought and went back home. Deborah was currently watching a variety show in the living room. Angel immediately gave the gifts to her upon entering the house, “Grandma, see what I have gotten for you!”
Deborah was delighted upon opening them and said, “My lovely granddaughter is increasingly attentive. I’m feeling over the moon!”
“I have unexpectedly met with Helen at the shopping mall. She was the one who had helped me in selecting these gifts.” Angel grinned and continued speaking, “Helen is a very kind person. She spared her time out in assisting me with present-picking and even bought me a gift. Grandma, do have a look at this. Helen has gifted me an adorable bracelet.”
Deborah glanced at the pricey bracelet and had a surprised look on her face. “Did Helen really give you such a present?”
“Yes, of course. She insisted on giving me the bracelet despite my constant refusal. She said that she adores me really much and we instantly clicked with each other despite meeting for the first time. We also went to have an afternoon tea together and she then obtained my WhatsApp contact number. She is hoping in treating me to a lovely meal if we have the time in the future.”
“Really? Is this an indication that you have blindly received the gift from Helen? This is a very expensive present and you should know that nothing comes free in life. How could you accept this without returning the kind gesture?”
“You are evidently incorrect about me. I have bought a brooch for Helen as a token of appreciation.”
“That’s a relief to hear,” Deborah frowned. Why would Helen be so friendly towards Angel all of a sudden?
Deborah thought about it and queried further, “What else did she say to you?”
“We just had a casual chat and nothing more. By the way, Helen wondered whether I have a boyfriend as she said that I am a beautiful and compassionate young lady,” Angel began to spew nonsense.
Helen was curious about Angel’s relationship status and even complimented her charming and kind personality. Deborah then noticed the bracelet that was gifted to Angel and soon wondered what was going on in Helen’s mind. Could it be that Helen was fond of Angel and intended her to marry Richard?
Deborah was also thinking of coupling up Richard and Angel. This matter would be set in stone should Helen have the same train of thought like her.
Fandrey finally returned home in the evening and Deborah then told him about this matter. He frowned and questioned, “Are you sure about it? Did Helen really gift her an expensive bracelet?”
“How can it be groundless? You’ll be fully convinced if you have a check at Angel’s credit card transaction. The statement did not show any payments regarding a bracelet, right?”
Deborah did not intend to hide her curiosity and said, “It is rare to purchase a gift for a stranger when meeting for the first time. The possibility is utterly slim, especially when it is something as valuable as this bracelet. Helen even queried Angel about having a boyfriend or not. Isn’t that too obvious? I think that Helen is very pleased with our granddaughter.”
“This is just your speculation, right?” Fandrey frowned. He would support Angel all the way as she was nevertheless his granddaughter. He did not have a bad impression on Angel, but she had crossed the line judging by the things that she had recently done.
Fandrey was feeling displeased upon encountering a traitor like Angel. It was impossible for Helen to fully grasp her true personality since she had only met Angel once.
Angel was neither extremely attractive as a model nor a celebrity. On the other hand, Richard was not a man who was struggling to obtain a partner and eventually stepping into marriage life. Why was Helen so desperate to get on Angel’s good side?
Fandrey felt that something fishy was going on and he replied, “It’s hard to grasp the entire picture and we shall see how it turns out. Let us not jump into a conclusion so rashly.”
Deborah nodded and said, “I am not in a hurry as I just wanted to tell you about it. We should prepare matters accordingly if the Clark family intends to partner the both of them up. Angel even said that Helen would like to treat her to a meal. My speculation is likely to be correct should Helen really invite her to have a meal together. ”
“Let’s just sit back and do nothing for now. We’ll talk more about it if the both of them really went out for a meal,” Fandrey replied in a nonchalant tone. Nothing would change should Helen genuinely feel pleased with Angel. Richard was the decision-maker of his marriage instead of his mother. Besides, it was illogical for Richard in letting his parents arrange his love life judging by his personality.
