Chapter 1086 Just an Accident

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Seeing Angel smile, Madelyn thought that she was in a good mood, so she immediately followed Angel and started a conversation while walking.
“Miss, you have beautiful hair. I have never seen hair as beautiful as yours, it’s as smooth as silk!”
“Really?” Angel sneered. Madelyn was spewing obvious lies by complimenting her hair.
Azalea’s hair was evidently much better than hers. This disgusting old witch must be trying to trick her with sugar-coated words. How stupid did she think she was?
Angel didn’t want to wait any longer, so she decided to deal with her now.
Thinking of this, she stopped abruptly and asked, “What… what is that?”
She turned around in panic and slammed hard into Madelyn who stood behind her.
Madelyn did not expect Angel to mess with her at all. After such a collision, she lost her balance and fell backward.
They were on the second floor, and it would be bad if she fell down, so she reflexively reached out to grab onto the railing to regain her balance.
However, Angel did not give her the chance to do that. She immediately pricked Madelyn’s hand on the railing with the hairpin she had.
Madelyn experienced a sharp pain and let go of the railing. Then, she rolled down the stairs with a scream.
When Angel saw Madelyn rolling down the stairs, a smile flashed across her face, but it disappeared immediately and she said in a panic, “What happened? Help! Madelyn fell down the stairs!”
Madelyn rolled down the stairs and finally stopped at the living room.
Angel had pricked the back of her hand with a hairpin. The wound was very deep and painful, and there were many scratches on her body.
This was her first time suffering such pain, so she screamed at the top of her lungs. Angel felt happy when she saw Madelyn’s miserable appearance, but she put on a worried expression. She hurried downstairs and walked up to Madelyn, who was crying in pain, and pretended to ask, “Madelyn, are you okay?”
“It hurts… so bad!” Madelyn sobbed. There was a hole in the back of her hand. How could it not hurt?
“I’m sorry! It’s all my fault! I just saw a dark shadow in the corridor on the second floor. I was scared at that time and didn’t expect to bump into you. What’s more, I didn’t expect that the hair clasp in my hand would stab you.”
How could Madelyn have thought that Angel had done it on purpose? Her explanation was logical. Seeing the worried look on Angel’s face, Madelyn held back her pain, “I didn’t mean to blame you. It was just an accident.”
Angel said, “Even though it’s an accident, but I still feel very uneasy. Your hand must hurt a lot, right? Why are you guys just standing there? Someone send her to the hospital immediately!”
“Thank you, Miss!” After hearing Angel’s words, Madelyn felt less pain in her hand.
The anxiety and worry on Angel’s face seemed so real. She must be very worried about herself.
It seemed that her daughter was very kind-hearted. She treated her nicely even under the circumstance of not knowing her true identity. If Angel found out that she was her biological mother, she would definitely be even kinder to her.
It was the right decision to come to the Floyd family. As long as she worked harder in the future, Angel would definitely come to like her and let her live a life filled with riches.
After watching the maids send Madelyn to the hospital, the fake look on Angel’s face finally disappeared. She sneered in a low voice, “Idiot!”
She thought that Madelyn was smart, but in fact, she was just a dumb fool. Not only was Madelyn undoubtful of her motives, but she was also grateful to her.
Angel thought that Emily would arrange a smarter person here, but there was no need for that worry at all.
Anyway, she really disliked Emily, Azalea, and the others. She had to inform Emily and Azalea about what had happened today to surprise them.
When Angel turned around and went upstairs, she did not forget to tell the servant, “Tell her family about her injuries immediately!”
After receiving the call about Madelyn, Azalea uttered a cry. Angel told the servants to exaggerate Madelyn’s injuries on the phone. After hearing the servant say that Madelyn had lost half of her life, Azalea was a little worried.
However, after thinking that Madelyn was a servant in the Floyd family, she was sure that they would take good care of her, so she suppressed her worries.
She was a star now, and she couldn’t afford to expose her mother’s identity since it was too shameful, so she decided not to visit her at the hospital. She would leave this to Emily to deal with.
Azalea immediately called Emily, “Auntie, I just received a call. My mother is hospitalized.”
Emily asked in surprise, “What happened?”
“I don’t know. The person on the phone said that she rolled down the stairs, got bruises on her body, and injured her hand. She is now in B City’s hospital. Auntie, you should visit her when you are free.”
Hearing this, Emily frowned, “It’s too late now, but I’ll visit her tomorrow. You go to the hospital first to see her.”
“I don’t have time. I’m busy now.” Azalea refused to see Madelyn.
“What are you busy with?” asked Emily.
“I’m recording a variety show tomorrow, so I have to memorize a lot of scripts. This is my variety’s first show, so I cannot afford to perform poorly. I can’t be distracted, so please take care of my mother for me.”
Emily felt disheartened when she listened to what Azalea said. Even though she hated Madelyn, she was still Azalea’s official mother, so Azalea was a little cruel to treat her mother like that.
Fame and wealth were her priorities in life. Her mother’s situation didn’t bother her at all.
This understanding made Emily feel cold. How could she have such a vicious daughter?
Emily felt a chill in her heart. After hanging up Azalea’s phone, she called Madelyn, “I heard that you were injured? What is the situation now?”
Madelyn did not dare to tell the truth. She could not let Emily know that she was a servant in the Floyd family, so she immediately answered, “Nothing, I’m fine.”
“Are you really okay?” Emily asked. Madelyn’s tone was normal, and she didn’t seem to be in trouble.
After all, Emily understood Madelyn. She was very good at exaggerating the smallest things, and she could ramble on continuously about a small issue. If she was injured, it was impossible for her to pretend to be okay. Then why did Azalea call her? That was strange.
She immediately asked, “Azalea just called me and told me that you were seriously injured. She didn’t have time to see you and asked me to take care of you. Are you sure you are okay?”
Madelyn scolded Azalea in her heart, “Sister, Azalea was just exaggerating. I had a small fall. It’s not a big deal. Don’t worry!”
Since Madelyn said that she was fine, Emily did not continue to pry.
Madelyn hung up the phone and sighed in relief. When she realized that Azalea called Emily after finding out about her injuries instead of visiting her immediately, she felt extremely furious.
She scolded angrily, “Azalea, you little bitch. How dare you not visit me after finding out that I’m injured! You’re really vicious!”
The difference in reactions between her biological daughter and non-biological one was obvious. Angel was extremely worried and even arranged for people to send her to the hospital, while Azalea was unbothered by everything. How cruel!
