Braelynn immediately asked, “What happened, Abbie?”
“My brother’s bodyguard called to tell me that he has a fever and was sent to the hospital. I have to go and see him.”
“Really? I’ll go and have a look with you.” Braelynn said immediately. At first, she was furious that he put on a sick act to fool her, however, she started feeling concerned again after hearing the news.
She rushed to the hospital with Abbie and found that William was also there. Seeing them come in, he said with comfort, “The doctor has checked up on him and said that he’ll be fine. Don’t worry.”
“Really? Don’t lie to me. My brother rarely gets sick.” Abbie was really worried about him.
She walked quickly to the bedside, “Richard! Richard!”
Richard’s eyes were closed and his face was flushed. Abbie called out to him a few times, but there was no response. Then she looked at William and asked, “Why is he not responding?”
William looked at Richard lying on the bed with his eyes closed and replied without changing his expression, “He fell unconscious, so he can’t hear you.”
“Ah! Did the doctor say when he will wake up?”
“The doctor told us to wait for them to put him on an IV drip. His temperature is forty degrees! I can’t believe he pretended to be alright. If the bodyguard didn’t find him in time, he would be dead! Even if he doesn’t die, his brain would be fried!”
Upon hearing William’s words, Braelynn’s eyebrows twitched. Had she wrongly accused Richard?
She felt extremely guilty when she thought of what she had just sent Richard.
William saw the guilt on her face. Without saying a word, he cursed Richard in his heart. He could not expose Richard’s thoughts because he would definitely want Braelynn to stay.
William looked at the time, “My parents-in-law and grandparents-in-law will arrive soon, so I need to pick them up from the airport. Abbie, will you come with me to pick up your parents?”
“But I’m worried about my brother!” Abbie also wanted to pick up her parents, but Richard was unconscious, so she didn’t want to leave him behind.
William suggested, “How about this, we can let the bodyguards keep an eye on him. If anything happens, they’ll inform us immediately.”
“I’m still worried. The bodyguards didn’t even notice his sickness at first, so it’s obvious that we can’t trust them. Why don’t you go and pick my parents up and tell them about my situation.”
Abbie pushed the responsibility to the bodyguard, and the bodyguard secretly complained in his heart, but he couldn’t expose Richard’s act.
Braelynn, who was silent, interrupted them, “How’s this? Abbie can go with William to the airport, and I’ll stay here and call you if anything happens.”
Abbie trusted her, so she said, “Thank you.”
After the Floyd family moved to their new home early in the morning, Fandrey, Deborah, and Callum followed Archer, Natalie, and Richard’s parents to Arcadia to attend William’s wedding.
In the huge villa, apart from the bodyguards and servants, Angel was the only person left. She was quite disappointed in being unable to attend William’s wedding. After sending off Fandrey and the others, she was unhappy and prepared to go home. On the way home, she received Ornard’s message, “Angel, do you have time now? I want to meet you.”
“Uncle, you’re back? When did you come back?” Angel asked with joy.
“I just arrived today. I haven’t seen you for a long time, and I missed you a lot, so let’s find a place to meet. By the way, I came back this time to deal with private matters, so I don’t want my location to be leaked. Do you understand?”
“I know, I will come to see you alone.”
Angel met him at the hot springs. With soaking in the hot spring as an excuse, she sent the bodyguards away.
She waited there for more than 40 minutes when Ornard finally knocked on the door.
Seeing him, Angel felt an unknown familiarity, and she took the initiative to hug him, “Uncle, I missed you so much!”
“I also missed you.” He looked at her with a loving gaze, “You are much thinner than before.”
“Because I’m not doing well! You’ve heard about me from my mother, haven’t you?”
“Yes, she told me a little.” Ornard nodded.
“My grandparents and my dad don’t like me very much now. Uncle, how can I make them like me as much as before?” Angel immediately asked him for advice.
“Do you know why they don’t like you? It’s because you are too eager to get what you want. If you didn’t target Valeria so obviously, such a thing would not happen.”
“How would I have known that the Valeria would make such a big deal out of it? I thought I could deal with her as I did with others, but the tables have been turned on me instead.”
“Even so, you don’t have to be so discouraged.” Ornard smiled as he patted her head.
There was hope in her eyes, “Uncle, you have a way to help me, don’t you?”
“Yes!” He nodded, “You’re the only child of the Floyd family, so your grandparents would definitely be reluctant to part with you, and they wouldn’t do anything to you. As for your father, as long as you are willing to work hard, he will like you as much as before.”
“How can I do that?” Angel asked in reply.
“You know about your biological mother, don’t you?” Ornard looked at her, “If you try to please her, your father will come to like you again.”
“You want me to please that woman? Impossible!” Angel shook her head profusely, “Uncle, I don’t want to please that woman. I’m sick of seeing her!”
“In order to make your father like you again, you must please Emily and make her like you. As long as she likes you, your father will treat you differently,” Ornard said seriously.
“But I’m sorry for my mother who raised me. She was so good to me, and she would be sad if I were to please Emily. I don’t want to do anything that would hurt her.” Angel said purposefully.
“It’s the thought that matters. Angel, this is your priority, and it’s your only chance for your father to treat you differently.”
Seeing that Ornard was so serious, Angel said in disapproval, “Uncle, I think that rather than pleasing Emily, I should work hard and make achievements in the company. That will make my grandparents and father look at me differently, right?”
“That’s also another way. I will help you. Please trust me.” Ornard persuaded earnestly.
“Fine, I’ll listen to you. But I don’t know much about the company since you know that I’m not used to actual work, so it will definitely be difficult for me to make achievements. You’ll help me?”
Ornard’s purpose of meeting her today was actually for this. As long as Angel let him give her advice, he could figure out the investment dynamics and the company secrets of the Floyd family, so that he could sneak an attack on them.
Ornard nodded happily, “Of course, but Angel, you can’t tell anyone that I helped you, okay?”
“Don’t worry! I’m not stupid!”
“Also, I have something important to tell you today. Because of my identity, I can’t stay here for a long time, so it’s more convenient for me to arrange a few people for you to use.”
