Madelyn came here knowing that Emily would outright reject her proposal. She already had plans in mind and rubbed her eyes a few times while humbly requesting, “Emily, I desperately want a job and I am aware that the Floyd family would pay handsomely for hiring a servant. Why don’t you ask this favor from Callum? Please, I’m begging you!”
“What are you talking about? Have you gone mad? Don’t you know that I have cut ties with him long ago?” Emily had a stern expression on her face.
“I understand how persistent of you in keeping a distance from him. However, Callum had always been thinking about you, right?”
“Nonsense! You should know that Callum is already married. Why on earth would I have anything to do with him?”
“Didn’t you help Azalea out last time? Why can’t you lend me a helping hand just like how you have assisted her?” Madelyn decided to use her triumph card.
Emily glanced at her coldly and said, “You have gotten things mixed up. I did not help Azalea with anything!”
“There is no need for you to hide it as I am well aware of your aid towards Azalea. Mrs. Davis has told me everything,” Madelyn decided to go all-in.
“What did she say to you?” Emily queried.
“She told me that you are a capable person and would be able to achieve things in an extraordinary way. You are able to help Azalea in achieving such a massive deal whereas I merely want to work as a servant. I am confident that you can fulfill such a menial request from me!”
It was surprising that Meadow would let out such a personal matter to Madelyn. Emily was pissed off but managed to crack a smile and said, “What on earth are you talking about? Azalea’s matter was merely a coincidence. She was an actress whereas the Floyd family wanted to hire an ambassador at that time. I had a chat with Mr. Smith as we were both friends. He then thought it through before eventually giving Azalea the opportunity to work with them. However, it was all in the past. Azalea is no longer the global spokesperson of the Floyd family.”
Madelyn knew that Azalea was no longer working for the Floyd family. She was not interested in that as Azalea was not her daughter anyway. She just desperately wanted to do things that would benefit herself this time.
Madelyn pretended to feel bad for Azalea before eventually changing the subject back to herself. “You can always put a few good words to Mr. Smith in hiring me as a servant. Emily, I received news that he is responsible for the villa of the Floyd family. He will definitely accept your suggestion as you both know each other well.”
“Do you really want to work as a servant?” Emily looked at Madelyn with a gaze that was as cold as ice.
“I’m not interested in becoming a servant as per se. I would just like to work under the Floyd family due to their handsome amount of salary. I’ve done the math and I would be able to retire should I work with them for around five to ten years,” Madelyn explained herself.
“Haha! Based on my understanding, you have been unemployed for a few good years. You have been spending the pension that was given by the Clark family. I don’t think that you might be able in getting used to working life all of a sudden.” Emily laughed sarcastically and questioned, “Do you happen to have ulterior motives in mind?”
“What else can I be thinking of apart from money? Emily, I know how hateful you feel towards me and desperately hope to conceal having such an incapable sister like me. I am well aware of my competency and should not cause any inconvenience to you. However, I am currently left with no other options. We have grown up together despite us not being biological sisters. Emily, please lend me a helping hand this time. Mom and dad had told you to take good care of me before they passed away.”
Emily was increasingly agitated upon hearing about it. Madelyn continued speaking, “Don’t worry as I will be careful of my words should I work with the Floyd family. There will not be a single soul who will know the relationship between the both of us.”
Madelyn was known to sow discord among others. She would create massive chaos just to achieve her objective. Emily decided to give in for now as she was feeling annoyed, “I shall help you out then. However, there is no promise that your request can be fulfilled.”
“You are able to help Azalea out in achieving such a great opportunity. My request is considered a small task since I would just want to work as a servant. I am sure that you are able to accomplish things accordingly with just a phone call.” Madelyn immediately grabbed Emily’s mobile phone and handed it to her while grinning. “Emily, why don’t you call Mr. Smith now? I can help you in dialing his number!”
“You need not put your hope so high onto me. The only thing that I can do is to ask Mr. Smith about this matter.” Emily looked at her coldly while taking the phone away and proceeding to dial Rammos’ number. “Mr. Smith, I have a favor to ask from you. I have a relative with the name of Madelyn Barrack and is currently unemployed. I heard that the Floyd family is recruiting a servant and she is interested in it. Are you able to help me out?”
Rammos cut straight to the point and outright rejected her, “Ms. Poland, apologies as I am not in charge of recruiting servants. Mrs. Floyd and Lady Angel are the ones responsible for it. Hence, I am afraid that I would not be able to lend you a helping hand.”
“I see. Alright then, thank you so much, Mr. Smith!” Emily hung up the phone and glanced at Madelyn before speaking, “You clearly heard the conversation, right?”
Madelyn initially assumed that Rammos would fulfill any of Emily’s demands. She did not expect him to refuse Emily in such a straightforward manner. It seemed that she had overestimated the capability of Emily.
Madelyn was extremely disappointed but there was nothing else that she could do. She had no choice but to excuse herself in a depressed mood.
Emily returned to her study room after sending her sister off. She then contacted Rammos once again and said, “Mr. Smith, thank you so much for saving me just now!”
“Don’t mention it! Ms. Poland, I have always remembered what you briefed me before,” Rammos chuckled. Emily had told him about Madelyn’s greed and selfishness. She instructed him to never agree on anything that was related to her sister. Hence, Rammos outright refused her request upon hearing the name of Madelyn Barrack.
Rammos was also rather curious about Madelyn’s proposal of serving as a servant of the Floyd family. “Ms. Poland, your sister has always been a lazy and unmotivated person as far as I am concerned. Why would she be interested in working as a maid all of a sudden?”
Emily was not naive enough to tell Rammos about the truth and explained, “She has spent all her money and is increasingly short on cash. She is interested in this job upon hearing the attractive salary of the Floyd family.”
Rammos did not feel doubtful about Emily’s elaboration and replied, “Haha, is she assuming that being hired as the servant of the Floyd family is an easy task? By the way, Madelyn did not give you a hard time after I have refused your request, did she?”
“Nope.”
“That’s a relief to hear. Ms. Poland, I would like to notify you about something else as well. I am sure that you are aware that Azalea has been terminated by the company. However, Mr. Floyd had instructed me to arrange some drama series and entertainment shows for her. It is all now in the midst of planning. Azalea’s schedule would be packed with several interesting movies and famous variety shows if everything commences smoothly.”
“I see. Mr. Smith, I do appreciate the heads up and your effort very much!” Emily replied politely.
Rammos swiftly replied, “I do not deserve any credit as this decision is made by Mr. Floyd. I am merely following orders that’s all. Ms. Poland, feel free to contact me should you be faced with any trouble in the future.”
“Thank you so much!” Emily let out a heavy sigh and took a seat after ending the phone call. She had assumed that Azalea’s career was done and dusted as she did not expect Callum to not give up on Azalea. He arranged some films and even several variety shows for her. Callum must be faced with huge pressure upon deciding such an unfavorable matter, right?
Both Fandrey and Deborah would definitely have a heated argument with their son should they be aware of it. Callum may receive an earful from both senior members because of Azalea. Emily was feeling complicated and was no longer in the mood to continue her work upon thinking about it.
