A few seconds after the message was sent, Gurmisran replied, “Did you even spare any effort to do this? Braelynn is your adopted daughter, so how can she be so heartless to her mother?”
“But that’s the truth! She used to listen to me, but she has strayed further from me since she took the lead in Valeria’s company. If I hadn’t taken the initiative to call her on this matter, she wouldn’t have told me! If I had known that she was so heartless, I shouldn’t have raised her!”
When Gurmisran saw that Lucian’s reply was full of resentment, he could not figure out whether she was really rejected by Braelynn or if she said these words deliberately to not be his pawn.
He entrusted Ornard to tell him the situation of the party. The party was held in Wolf Group and it was on a grand scale. It was also unknown whether William did this to embarrass Callum openly or for some other reason.
Gurmisran was not qualified to enter the party and he didn’t know any guests as well, so he had no choice but to find Lucian.
He had thought that Lucian would be invited, but now it seemed that he was overthinking. Judging from the current situation, there were no other people other than big shots. It seemed that the Howard family would never let anything that happened during the party leak out.
Valeria was taken to the company by the bodyguards. After entering the office, she saw Braelynn sitting behind the desk while reading a business proposal. She sniggered. “I know that you only think about work. If I didn’t come over, would you even remember that you need to attend a grand party at night?”
Braelynn stood up with a smile. “Of course, I do. How can I not remember such a big event?”
“Your brother asked me to see you in case you have any requests.”
Valeria addressed William as Braelynn’s brother very casually, but it made Braelynn a little embarrassed. “I don’t have any.”
“Alright, then I’ll arrange everything. Let’s go for lunch first before we go to the Wolf Group and rest for a while. The gown and jewellery will all be sent there as well, so you can choose the things you like first before you do your make-up. You’ll definitely stun the audience later tonight.”
Since Valeria had made such a thoughtful arrangement, Braelynn naturally had no objections. “Okay! I’ll listen to you!”
Valeria smiled. “I guess I’ll have to get used to being your sister-in-law in the future!”
Braelynn wasn’t used to such occasions, so she was a little embarrassed for a moment. Valeria was a few years younger than her, and she had been calling her Miss. She couldn’t possibly think of Valeria as her sister-in-law.
Valeria looked at her with a smile, so Braelynn forced herself to say, “We’ll be sis… sisters!”
Valeria saw that she was uncomfortable, so she stopped embarrassing her. “Well, I won’t trouble you anymore! Let’s go for a meal and I’ll call Abbie over.”
They had lunch at an Asian restaurant. The dishes had already been served when Abbie arrived. She opened the door of the private room and smiled. “You guys are so fast! You’ve already ordered the dishes!”
“We were waiting for you! Come and sit down quickly!”
Abbie walked over to Valeria’s side and sat down. She then reached out her hand and picked up the cup to drink a mouthful of water. “I’m starving! I just woke up when I heard Valeria’s call. I am so hungry right now that I can eat the whole menu!”
“Eat it. Finish the entire plate of spicy beef if you can!” Valeria smiled and picked up a piece of beef from the plate in front of Abbie.
“Thank you, Your Grace!” Abbie smiled and began to eat the beef while Braelynn thoughtfully filled Valeria’s bowl with soup of cabbage. “Valeria, you can drink this first!”
As soon as the beef was in Abbie’s mouth, she heard Braelynn calling Valeria casually and her eyes were wide in shock. “Are you sure? Did I hear you correctly?”
“Of course! Are you jealous that I have such a powerful sister-in-law?”
“Yes!” Abbie nodded.
Valeria winked, “Don’t we celebrate this with a cup of wine?”
“Definitely!” Abbie raised his glass. “I wish you all the best! Congratulations to Braelynn for getting a sister-in-law! May you all be a happy family!”
“Thank you!” Valeria smiled and raised her glass.
After lunch, three of them headed to the Wolf Group slowly. However, they unexpectedly ran into Angel when they got out of the car and entered the hall.
A trace of jealousy flashed through Angel’s eyes when she saw Valeria and the other two ladies. However, she quickly adjusted her mood and smiled and came over to greet them. “Hello, Valeria!”
Before Valeria spoke, Abbie said, “Why are you calling her name so casually? Is she related to you? Do you have the right to call her that?”
Angel was rendered speechless by Abbie’s words. She called Valeria just because she wanted to act as though they were close. Who would have thought that Abbie would make her feel so embarrassed? She held back her anger and immediately changed her words. “Hello, Miss Brown!”
“Hi! Where are you going?” Valeria asked with a smile.
“Didn’t my family sign Azalea as the brand representative? We’re holding a party for her tonight, so I need to go to the hotel to see the venue and layout.” Angel deliberately mentioned Azalea to make Abbie unhappy.
“To hold a party for Azalea? Your family has bad taste.” Braelynn immediately chimed in.
“What did you just say?” Angel glared at Braelynn.
“We’re talking about the Floyd family. Am I right, Ms. Floyd? Can’t you hear properly? It seems that we have to go to the hospital to check your ears.” Abbie said.
“Why are you scolding me?” Angel was livid, but she suppressed her anger and asked Valeria for help. “Look at your friends. She scolded me when I didn’t even say anything!”
“Abbie has always been straightforward. She means no harm.” Valeria smiled and tried to smooth things over for her. Angel was so bold to use Valeria as her backer!
“Angel, you should go to your banquet now. I wanted to send invitations to you for the party tonight, but it seems that you don’t have time.”
“What’s there to do? She’s just an actress after all. Would anyone be stupid enough to go?” Braelynn sneered.
“What do you mean? We invited a lot of people.” It didn’t matter if no one attended since she wasn’t the one who would be humiliated. Angel was not angry at all.
“Even though so many people were invited, it doesn’t mean that they would attend. No one would show support for such a shitty actress unless they’re out of their mind!” Braelynn added another sentence.
Angel’s expression was a little ugly. They kept arguing with her, but she couldn’t offend them openly. How could she stand it? It was the best idea for her to leave, so she forced a smile and said, “I’ll go first. When I have time, I’ll invite you to have tea with me!”
“There’s no need for that. We don’t have the time to drink the tea with you anyway. You’re not a good person, so what if you scheme against Valeria? Who can bear the consequences?” Abbie sneered.
Abbie was getting more absurd. The smile on Angel’s face disappeared and she glared at Abbie. The latter and Braelynn was also glaring at her. How could Angel be a match for them? After that, she left resentfully with her bodyguards.
Angel heard Abbie laugh heartily when she was walking to the door and she felt incredibly upset. She wanted to provoke Abbie initially, but she got herself in trouble instead. Wasn’t she digging her own grave?
