Chapter 987 A Private Meetup

Bobby was not absolutely firm in saying that Callum was the mysterious man. Both William and Marcus were taken aback by his speculation. Marcus then asked, “Why would you say so? What happened to the remaining one percent?”
“One could never be sure of anything and hence, that would be a tiny chance for Callum to be the innocent one. It’s wise for us to keep an open mind!” Bobby replied while brushing his head.
Bobby was very concise in his choice of words. He was being thoughtful in an attempt to ease the tense atmosphere. He concealed his point in a good way as he was afraid that William would be depressed about it.
William forced a smile and glanced at Marcus. “What do you think then?”
“Well.” Marcus paused for a while and continued speaking, “I refuse to believe that Callum is the mysterious man before Braelynn’s DNA test was being obtained. However, there is now an eighty percent chance for him to be the culprit as he is confirmed to be her father. I had also taken into account Lucian’s motive to steal Braelynn away. The remaining possibility would then be on David. Callum might not be the culprit should David still be alive. I speculate that Callum is the guilty one as David is already dead.”
William remained silent and pondered in his thoughts with a frown on his face. Bobby and Marcus looked at each other before asking him, “Sir, what should we do now?”
“I have yet to come up with something. I need more time to think about this matter.”
Marcus and Bobby had been working under William for many years. They knew that William was an opinionated and rational person. He was the one who would analyze and project his next move accordingly. However, there was now a total contrast of William compared to the old days. He neither examined nor had a plan of action in mind. He had instead remained silent and was seen to be on the fence.
The truth was as clear as day but he still chose to think things thoroughly. It was obvious that he must be very upset right now.
It was relatively certain that Callum was the mysterious man as David was already dead. It was logical for William to be sulky as he just found out that his uncle was his enemy. Marcus and Bobby struggled to come up with ways in comforting him. After all, it was a cold hard truth.
No one in the office spoke a word and the time ticked away. William’s phone eventually rang after a while. He glanced at his phone screen and closed his eyes for a moment. He mustered up his courage and answered it, “Hello!”
Callum sounded a little tensed as if he was trying his best to conceal something. “William, are you free tonight?”
“Yes,” William replied.
Callum was an observant person and felt that William was not being his usual self. He frowned and said, “Well, I would want to treat you to dinner tonight. I intend to have some private time with you only.”
“No problem!” William tried to reply as brief as he could.
“Alright, see you tonight!”
William threw his phone aside after hanging up the phone call. He sighed and said, “Gentlemen, what are your point of view of him inviting me to dinner tonight?”
Bobby replied to him first, “Well, I do have an opinion in mind. Callum might be the murderer of David. Hence, he might want to discuss this topic with you if that is indeed the case.”
Marcus nodded in agreement and said, “Yes, I agree with him as well. David died shortly after being discovered that we had been following him. There is only one motive in Callum’s mind to meet with you. He will question your rationale in giving orders to tail David that day. I speculate that he might blame David’s death onto you.”
“Really?” William asked.
“There is no doubt he would act this way if he is really the guilty one!” Bobby answered affirmatively.
William waved his hand and said, “Alright, thanks for your input. You guys can leave now and I shall have a think about it!”
The following scene had taken place in the hospital. Azalea was being supported by Emily after her wound was treated afresh. Meadow had arrived at the ward with a bouquet of flowers in her hand. She turned around upon hearing footsteps. She called out worriedly, “Azalea!”
“Meadow!” Azalea greeted and glanced at her with a pitiful look on her face.
Meadow placed the flowers down and went over to hold her. “I came here upon receiving news that you have got into an accident. What happened to you? Why have you got injured so badly?”
“It’s a long story.” Azalea had invited her over just to deceive Emily. Azalea was ready to put on a show and sighed, “Meadow, please have a seat. By the way, my aunt is here and I shall introduce you to her. Aunt Emily, she is Meadow Harris. Meadow, my aunt’s name is Emily Poland.”
Emily nodded politely and said, “Meadow, nice to meet you!”
“Emily, nice to meet you too!” Meadow and Emily shook hands with each other before sitting down.
Meadow knew what her objective was. She sat down and immediately asked Azalea, “Who had made you into this way?”
“The name of the person who had harmed me is Braelynn Saunders,” Azalea answered her.
“Braelynn? Isn’t she best friend with Abbie? Why would she mess with you when there is no bad blood between the both of you? Abbie is the one behind this, right?” Meadow swiftly tried to point fingers towards Abbie.
Azalea sighed and did not voice out her opinion. Meadow pretended to be very upset upon hearing about this matter.
“This is outrageous! How could they be so bold to cross the line? Could they have targeted Azalea as she is viewed as a weakling? Let’s sue her! We can never let Abbie off the hook!”
“They have destroyed the evidence and framed me with a fake video. I will never win this court fight even if I make a move first,” Azalea answered with a sorrowful look on her face.
“How can she be such a bully? Is there no other way out? This is not feasible! I can’t just watch Azalea being harmed in such away. I shall tell my husband and he will hopefully come up with something!”
Meadow pretended to make the said phone call but Azalea had pretended to halt her action. “Aunt Emily, I know you mean well for me. I appreciate your concern but this is not just about Abbie as Valeria had also decided to chime into this matter. There is nothing that we could do if William attempts to interfere in this incident!”
“Abbie is such an arrogant and demanding person. She has always been very bossy and does things rashly. Emily, I shall come clean to you about something. I am not a fan of Abbie but she keeps pestering my son, Michael. She tried to win him over despite knowing that my son was in a relationship with Azalea. She is utterly shameless!”
Emily was surprised to see Meadow being so supportive towards Azalea. Was Meadow really that fond of Azalea?
Abbie was the daughter of the Clark family in the eyes of Emily. Her appearance and qualifications were much more excellent than Azalea’s. Besides, it was a different ballgame as Abbie was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. It was logical for a wealthy family to choose someone compatible like Abbie. Emily did not believe her niece when Azalea claimed that Meadow adored her very much. She had been very sceptical and judgemental towards Meadow. However, she had a change of mind upon witnessing the interaction between Meadow and Azalea.
Emily stood up and poured her a glass of water. “Mrs. Davis, do have some water.”
“Thank you!” Meadow was mesmerized by her elegant demeanor. Emily took the glass over and drank a mouthful of it. “Emily, don’t you want to help Azalea in getting out of this mess?”
Emily sighed and said, “Of course I would love to. However, how could I be of help to her? I’m a powerless person with no connections. I really can’t do anything about it!”
“Are you just going to sit back and watch Azalea being bullied in such a way? Emily, I have witnessed the ups and downs of your niece. To be honest, I feel pity for her to live under the Clark family’s roof! She was being abused ever since she was little!”
