Chapter 975 Looking For Death

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

In the presidential suite of the Misurton Hotel, Callum was busy with work in his study room, while David was absent-mindedly browsing through videos on his mobile phone in the guard room.
In the afternoon, he sent a message to Ornard saying that he was being followed and told him to cut off contact with him for a while.
This way, even if William were to keep an eye on him, he would not find anything wrong, and he would temporarily be safe.
However, it was hard to say. William was not an ordinary person, and it would not be easy to live under his surveillance in the future, so it was best if the Floyd family decided to change their schedule and return overseas immediately.
This way, he no longer had to worry about the people following him. As he thought about it, he decided to ask Callum about the date of their return.
As soon as he stood up and opened the door, his phone rang and a string of numbers appeared on the screen.
Gurmisran had sent him a code message to meet up, but David was dumbfounded. Didn’t they just meet each other in the day?
Why did he want to meet again? Was it something urgent?
Ornard still hasn’t replied to the message he sent in the afternoon. Was Ornard trying to give him an order through Gurmisran?
After taking a look at the time, he realized that it was already 12 o’clock at night. Callum had a routined schedule and would rest early when there was nothing going on. Today, however, he was busy so he was still awake. It was already 12 o’clock, so David made an excuse that he was hungry and went out to eat something. Then, he would sneak out to see what was going on with Gurmisran.
As he thought about it, he opened the door and walked out. Callum’s assistant was watching TV in the living room and turned his head to ask, “Are you going out?”
David nodded and said, “Yes, I’m a little hungry, so I want to find something to eat. Do you need me to bring something back for you?”
The assistant shook his head, “It’s fine!”
“Then I’ll be on my way. If Mr. Floyd asks for me, tell him that I’ll be back soon after I’m done eating.”
“Just go, he probably won’t look for you. You can take your time outside. It’s okay.” The assistant replied kindly.
David left in relief. After Callum told him that he was being followed, he used a cab service to pick him up at the underground parking lot and took the elevator there.
Although he was being picked up in the underground garage, he was still worried and specially asked the taxi to drive to the food stalls in the night market in order to prevent being followed. He sat in the car and carefully watched his back but did not find any suspicious cars following him.
Relieved, he ordered barbecued meat at the food stall and had a few quick mouthfuls before packing it up and waiting for a car on the side of the road. A black car drove over, and the driver lowered the window and said, “Do you need a ride? My rates are very cheap.”
David nodded and got on the car. Then, the driver started the car and left. After a while, he told him, “Mr. Knight asked me to pick you up.”
It turned out to be Gurmisran’s arranged men. David relaxed and asked, “Where is he meeting me?”
“He said that he was worried that someone would follow us, so I’m going to circle a few rounds and take you to the meeting place if it’s safe.”
“OK!” Upon hearing this, David felt more relieved. The driver took out a bottle of water and handed it to him, “Do you want some water?”
“Thank you!” David took the water and put it aside. Seeing that he did not drink water, the driver’s eyes flashed as he looked back through the rearview mirror. David did not find anything strange with his behavior and felt bored so he took out his mobile phone and started browsing through it. The driver glanced behind him again.
A head popped out from the trunk behind David, but he didn’t notice it at all. He continued playing the mobile phone game as the unknown person quickly reached out with gloved hands to cover his face. He didn’t expect that someone would be hiding behind him. After struggling a few times, he passed out under a strong anesthetic.
Seeing that David had fainted, the person hiding in the trunk crawled over from behind and tied him up tightly.
The car quickly drove out of the remote city and soon stopped outside an abandoned warehouse.
The driver put on some gloves and got off the car with the accomplice in the back while dragging David who was unconscious into the warehouse. Then, they took a barrel of gasoline from the car and poured it all over David, then lit up a lighter and threw it in his direction.
David was surrounded by fire, and the burnt smell filled the air. They stood at the warehouse door and watched him turn into a fireball. The pain of being roasted by the fire made David regain consciousness and struggle helplessly in the fire.
Unfortunately, it was all in vain. Death was sneering at him in the fire, and finally, he was taken by the fire after struggling a few times.
The two murderers did not have any sympathy after David fell to the ground, and one of them took a video with their phone and sneered, “Idiot! If he hadn’t been so careful, we wouldn’t have been able to kill him. We have to thank him for his help when we get the money!”
The other one chimed in, “Send the video to Gurmisran. We’ll leave immediately after getting the money. Let’s hide for a while first.”
The video of David being burned alive soon reached Gurmisran’s mobile phone. He opened and watched the video, then he looked at the time and forwarded it to Ornard.
It was early morning at home and afternoon in the US. Ornard didn’t rest well last night, so now he was resting on the sofa in the office. Gurmisran’s video woke him up, and he sleepily picked up his mobile phone and turned it on.
After watching the video, Ornard immediately called Gurmisran and said, “Well done! I didn’t expect you to get this done so quickly.”
“It’s a coincidence. He was looking for death. No one could stop him.” Gurmisran laughed with satisfaction.
“Now that our spy is silenced, William will lose his only clue! You can take a breather, and I don’t have to worry about it anymore.”
“It’s not just that. Do you know why I wanted you to kill David as soon as possible?” Ornard sneered, “One of the reasons was because I was worried that William would catch on to him and take advantage of it against us, and another reason is related to Callum. I want to disrupt the relationship between Callum and William and cause conflict between them.”
“Can David’s death cause conflict between Callum and William? Are you sure?” Gurmisran asked in surprise.
“Yes, I’m sure!” Ornard smiled insidiously and told Gurmisran honestly.
“This is what I’m thinking. William dealt with the Anderson family in order to find out the truth about his mother’s death. Since he found out about David, it means that he knows parts of it already, which is whoever took part in dealing with Matilda. He has already dealt with Savannah, Raelyn, Devon, Declan, and now he’s looking for the final culprit of everything, which will become Callum!”
