In the Floyd Group’s meeting room in Misurton, Callum was sitting in the main seat, while Thomas was sitting next to him. Both of them were focused on the huge display screen in the conference room as they listened to the manager of each department making their mid-year business reports.
In the past half a year, the Misurton company made rapid progress, and its performance was beyond Callum’s imagination.
He was in an extremely good mood after hearing the reports, and pat Thomas’ shoulder after the meeting, “Good job! I knew you were reliable!”
Thomas smiled and said, “Thank you, Boss! But I can’t take this credit alone. The success we have today is the whole team’s effort.”
Thomas’s humility gave Callum an even better impression of him. When he returned to the office, he called his assistant, “Invite the managers of all departments to have dinner with me in the evening. It will be my treat.”
“Weren’t you going to meet Mr. Smith tonight?” The assistant reminded him. After Callum was reminded of his appointment with Rammos, he pondered for a while and said, “I will call Rammos and change our appointment date. You can go ahead and make the dinner arrangement with the managers.”
“Okay, I will arrange it.” The assistant promised to arrange it immediately.
Callum immediately called Rammos, “I’m treating the executives of the company to dinner tonight, so I will have to temporarily cancel our appointment today. Let’s talk about it tomorrow.”
“Alright, I got it. Then let’s talk about it tomorrow.” Rammos agreed immediately.
“Do you know what’s going on with her?” Callum asked about Emily.
“Ms. Poland has been staying at home recently and has not gone out. There is something I want to tell you though. She has been contacting Thomas very frequently recently.”
“Thomas? Why would she contact him?” Callum was very surprised.
“I inquired about it, and it turns out that Thomas was funded by Ms. Poland when he was studying abroad. Maybe he’s repaying her kindness now because she helped him in the past.”
“Such a thing happened?” Callum frowned. Emily was kind and helpful, so it was normal for her to help Thomas. Thomas, on the other hand, seemed to be a kind person, so it was good that he knew how to repay the kindness. However, it would be troublesome if Deborah and Fandrey found out that Thomas and Emily were in contact.
Fortunately, the two elders of the Floyd family were usually not around in the home country, therefore it would be okay if they did not find out about anything. This made Callum relieved, and then he asked Rammos, “Is there anything else?”
“One more thing. It’s about one of your bodyguards.” Rammos paused for a moment, “I found someone following him.”
David was his bodyguard and had no relation to anything, so why would someone follow him?
Callum was shocked by Rammos’s words, “Who is following him?”
“I don’t know either. I just found out about it by chance just now!”
“Just now?” Rammos looked at his assistant, “Where is David?”
“He went out,” the assistant replied, “He said he would be back soon.”
Callum did not think much of it and continued to ask Rammos, “And then?”
“This whole situation is a little coincidental. I went to work today and saw David in front of the tea room on Terloh Street, so I thought that you were drinking tea over there, and I wanted to go over and say hi. However, before I could go in, David already left in his car. Since he left, I did not follow him anymore and ordered the driver to drive me home. Then, I realized that I was going the same route as David. His car was in front of us, and a car behind us was following him discreetly. When the driver brought up the possibility of a stalker, that’s when I found something odd.”
After finishing his report, Rammos gasped for breath and said, “So I asked the bodyguards to follow along to see what was going on. The stalker probably realized that we were following them, so they retreated immediately. I remember their car number plate, so I will investigate it further, but if they were actually David’s stalkers who found out that we were also following them, knowing their car number plate would not help much.”
Callum pondered for a moment and said, “This is very strange. I’ll ask David about it when he comes back. Over the years, he has been very low-key by my side, and he is not a person who likes making trouble. If the other party is really following him, it must be because of me.”
“Yes, he is just a bodyguard who has no conflict of interest with people, so the person following him must be after you. You should be more careful.” Rammos warned.
Callum frowned and thought about it after hanging up Rammos’s call. He had no enemies in the country, so he couldn’t figure out who was tracking David.
Callum thought that it would be better to ask David about it when he came back. Just as he was thinking about it, David came in and said respectfully, “Boss, were you looking for me?”
“It’s nothing much. Have you offended anyone here?” Callum asked.
“No.” David shook his head.
“That’s weird. Was it just a misunderstanding?”
Hearing Callum’s words, David realized that something was wrong, “Is there something wrong, Boss?”
“Well, did you realize that someone was stalking you today?” Since David was his bodyguard, Callum trusted him very much and asked him about it directly.
David was shocked and immediately shook his head innocently, “No, I didn’t pay much attention to this. After all, the security here is very good, and I didn’t offend anyone, so I let my guard down. Boss, who told you that someone was following me?”
“Rammos did, but it may be a misunderstanding. But it’s always wise to play safe, so you should be careful when you go out next time.”
Callum did not doubt him at all, but David broke out in a cold sweat from the shock. After leaving Callum’s office, the first thing he thought of was that he was exposed.
He must have been found out that he helped Ornard and Veronica to plot against Callum. He must have been targetted by William, so he had to be careful in the future.
As he thought about it, he secretly sent a message to Ornard, “I was tailed by someone and Rammos discovered it. I suspect that the person stalking me was William’s men. If it’s really William’s men that are eyeing me, then it might not be convenient for me to do things in the future. We can’t keep in touch for now. We’ll talk about it after things die down.”
Ornard was about to rest and his face instantly darkened after receiving the news from David. He immediately sent Gurmisran a message and said, “David just told me that he might have been targeted by William’s men, so it seems that he has already been exposed. You can’t delay things anymore. You have to act now. The sooner, the better!”
Gurmisran sent a short reply in agreement, but Ornard was still worried. He added, “If William set his eyes on David, he might suspect you, so you should restrain yourself and cut off all the connections between us. By the way, clean up everything after you kill David!”
“I can handle David, but I don’t know what to do with his wife and son. I’m pretty sure he has told them something about us over the years, so we can’t leave anyone out.”
“Don’t worry, we can deal with them after we’re done with him. We have to take things slowly and don’t rush anything!”
