Chapter 892 Playing Dumb

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Raelyn went to obtain financial assistance from Gavin. On the other hand, Talitha was all alone in the hospital ward and was lost in her thoughts.
She was dissatisfied being forced to become the bigger person when Natasya was the one who started it first.
She must not give up easily and ought to fight back. However, what could she do to seek revenge on Natasya?
She struggled to come up with an ideal solution. She was aware of her disadvantage as no one was on her team.
It would be great if she could find someone to help her out. She did have useful connections during her good old days but they were all incapable and unreliable. She then finally thought of Raymond as the perfect candidate to be on her team.
It would be wonderful if I managed to persuade Raymond in lending me a helping hand!
However, things did not seem well for Talitha as he had blocked her contact number. He was keen to help her out last time as he wanted to seek revenge as payback. It was obvious that he would continue giving her the cold treatment as they were already on bad terms.
Talitha was left with no other choice. It was known that the enemy of one’s enemy could be friends. Natasya had ruthlessly plotted against both Valeria and Raymond. Talitha did not get herself involved with her sister’s revenge plan. Hence, she planned to beg for his mercy to let bygones be bygones. She was hopeful that he would eventually agree to work together in order to get rid of Natasya.
She decided to stop hesitating and tried her luck first. It was wise for her to make a move and ought to not give up easily even if there was a glimmer of hope.
Talitha picked up the phone and sent a message to Raymond. “Raymond! I would like to meet with you for a moment. Is that alright?”
Her expectation was right when Raymond did not revert back to her message at all. She decided to try her luck once again, “Raymond, I know that you are upset with me. However, the incidents that happened last time have nothing to do with me as it was a one-man show from Natasya. You should feel resentful towards her but not me as I am the innocent one!”
Raymond finally replied back, “Talitha, do you possibly think that I am a fool? Your entire family has ulterior motives and has a knack for scheming others. Your mother has plotted against my father once again today. Don’t you know that?”
She knew exactly what Raymond meant. Did Raelyn succeed in obtaining financial assistance from Gavin? Talitha pretended to be confused and said, “Raymond, what do you mean?”
“Didn’t your mother tell you that she has succeeded in taking sixty million worth of funds away from our grandfather? She said these are to be for both you and your sister’s dowry. Wait, aren’t you aware of this? Looks like she intends to have it given to Natasya only. Talitha, how pity of you to always be at the sidelines. Your parents are clearly more biased towards Natasya and don’t even give a damn about you!”
Raymond had learned from the past and became much more quick-witted than before. He knew that Talitha was playing dumb with him.
The Anderson family was a worthless piece of shit. He decided to continue the act with Talitha and see who shall give in soon.
Talitha was furious upon hearing about it and snapped back, “Who said so? I am just being the bigger person and decided to tolerate her childishness.”
“What? Did you agree to let Hardy in become her boyfriend instead of yours? Talitha, it’s time for you to wake up from your dreams! Your parents have always favored Natasya more than you and things would never change forever. They’ve always got your sister’s back, be it marriage and financial inheritance. The things that you obtained from your parents are always the leftovers from Natasya. How devastating you must be to be treated as an outsider.”
Raymond was aware of how cunning a person that Raelyn was. He knew that it was impossible for her to give all the funds to Talitha as she had spent so much effort to obtain it. Hence, he decided to provoke Talitha in hopes that she would hate both Raelyn and Natasya.
Talitha was extremely upset upon receiving his text but there was nothing that she could do about it.
However, a sense of excitement kicked in shortly upon knowing that Raelyn had obtained sixty million of funds from Gavin. The money would all belong to Talitha, right? After all, she had promised Raelyn in giving way to Natasya. Talitha knew that there would be much more options for her if she really had such an amount of cash.
She thought about all the possibilities and was looking forward to meeting with Raelyn.
William did not leave Wolf Group immediately after meeting with Gonzalec. He had unexpectedly met Callum in the lobby and was being invited to have lunch with him together. It would be unwise for him to reject such a request.
He needed to be gracious and proposed that lunch would be on him with a smile on his face. He assumed that Callum would call Fandrey and Deborah over to join them. However, to his surprise, Callum was planning to have lunch with him alone.
William politely gestured him to take a seat. “Uncle, what would you like to have?”
“Well, you are the owner of the hotel. You shall have the final say as you ought to know the best dishes here,” Callum replied.
William then opted for a few signature dishes of the Wolf Group. Their lunch soon commenced but they did not exchange conversations with each other. Both William and Callum enjoyed the dishes quietly.
He had a feeling that Callum would like to have a word with him in private and his speculation was correct. The waiter served them a fine-quality green tea after lunch had ended. Callum drank a few sips of tea and placed his teacup down before apologizing, “William, I am rather embarrassed about the events that happened recently. Please forgive me and I would also like to have a deep talk with you.”
“Uncle, you don’t need to say sorry as you are not at fault,” William smiled and was not surprised by his apology at all.
“The things that Angel had done are utterly… ridiculous.” The guilt on Callum’s face became increasingly prominent.
“To be honest, the Floyd family is not as gracious as you may think so. We have a few tricks under our sleeves to deal with our enemies. However, this is the first time that we have witnessed Angel do harm towards our own kind. I am feeling in despair after spending the night giving a good thought about it. Your grandmother has spoiled her ever since she was a little child. We are at fault for Angel’s behavior.”
Callum seemed to be feeling genuinely regretful. The smile on William’s face eventually faded away as he then replied, “Uncle, I decided to be blunt since you are being so honest with me. Angel had the guts to plot against my wife who is currently pregnant. She would have tasted her own medicine long ago if it weren’t for both you and grandpa!”
William’s tone was intimidating with a gaze that was as cold as ice. He seemed to be a completely different person compared to his usual casual and merry demeanor. Callum’s heart trembled as this was the first time that he saw William acting in this way. The true image of his being merciless had finally emerged.
Callum was increasingly ashamed whereas William continued on, “I was being raised without a mother ever since I was a little child. My father had blamed me for being the cause of her death and had been distant to me. I have no idea what it feels like to become a family. Hence, having each other’s back as a family is a ridiculous mantra for me!”
“William, you’ve suffered so much and it’s all our fault. If we knew that…”
“Uncle, let bygones be bygones. I told you this not to make you feel pitiful towards me. There are many more of them who had it tougher than me. My point is that no one can ever lay a finger on my wife! I feel indebted towards her when I chose to let Angel off the hook in hopes to bring peace towards the Floyd family!”
Callum did not expect him in being so protective towards Valeria and asked, “Is Valeria that good?”
