Valeria glared at William after Callum had left. “Honey, what’s wrong with you? Why are you being so unreasonable? Aren’t we here just to find out something from him? I was so nervous when you have made Callum so upset.”
“I did it on purpose! I provoked him as I am curious what kind of a person my uncle is. To be honest, Callum does not seem like one who would hold a grudge against someone. However, why would he have such a vicious daughter like Angel? Could it be that Angel has inherited this bad personality from her mother instead? Well then, who is her mother then?”
Callum came back and asked Fandrey without hesitation, “Dad, did you arrange for someone to follow Braelynn yesterday?”
“Yes, I did!” Fandrey did not deny it.
Callum was stunned upon listing to Fandrey’s words. Could it be that Fandrey was the one who caused Braelynn to be met with an accident? “Well then, I assume that you have instructed for someone to mess around with Braelynn today. Dad, why would you do that?”
“What? Something bad has happened to her?” Fandrey had a surprised look on his face.
“Braelynn was kidnapped by two men at the International Trade Building this afternoon. They showed no mercy and wanted a piece of her. She would have been long gone if she was not skillful in martial arts.”
“Are you indicating that William met with you just now as he suspects that it was us who did it?” Fandrey immediately understood what was going on and questioned further, “What else did he tell you?” “William firstly told me everything that happened to Braelynn just now. He then showed me the pictures of our men following Braelynn around yesterday. Hence, he thinks that we are the mastermind behind Braelynn’s accident.”
“How could there be such perfect timing?” Fandrey had a stern look on his face and continued, “I do not deny the fact that I instructed someone to tail Braelynn yesterday. I wanted to teach her a lesson but there was a change of plan since we were being discovered. Hence, the incident that happened to Braelynn today has nothing to do with me.”
“Are you sure?” Callum confirmed once again.
“What benefit can I get from deceiving you? I just wanted her to pay the price from being so impolite towards your mother. I have no intention to take things further. Sammuel then purposely told Braelynn about his schedule and advised me to change my mind. Hence, the plan was called off in the end.”
Callum breathed a sigh of relief and said, “I’m glad that you are not the one behind it. My mother wouldn’t do such a thing, would she?”
“Aren’t you well aware of your mother’s personality? She is a soft-hearted person and would never have the guts to do such a vicious thing. She is not even aware that I have instructed someone to tail Braelynn behind yesterday. She is not the candidate to fit into the picture.”
“Well then, we are now left with Angel. Would she do such a thing?” Callum queried with a worried look on his face.
Fandrey frowned and said, “Angel is currently at the hospital and is not influential enough to command the bodyguards around. Besides, she doesn’t even know anyone here. She has no power to mess with Braelynn even if she has the heart to do so.”
“Alright then! I’m feeling relieved since it was not us. Let me update William about it first.”
Callum contacted William to notify him that both Fandrey and Deborah were innocent in Braelynn’s accident.
He also eliminated Angel to be the guilty one by default. However, William was not convinced and felt that she must have done something behind their backs.
Fandrey, Deborah, and Callum were not the ones who tried to have a piece of Braelynn. Angel was the prime suspect then!
Who had Angel teamed up with to do such a thing to Braelynn? She had no contacts here since she had been living all her life overseas. It was astonishing that she could plan this without seeking the Floyd Family’s assistance.
William was struggling to come up with something and suddenly thought of the Laban Family, who had business matters here. Did Angel get in touch with them to mess with Braelynn then?
Why would the Laban Family take such a risk when Angel had no relationship with them at all?
This matter had to be investigated thoroughly to seek justice for Braelynn.
Gavin was watering the plants at the flower garden situated in the courtyard. Things have changed ever since he gave Archer and Valeria an earful last time. Both Archer and Natalie had moved out and decided to reside in Natalie’s villa.
The couple would instruct the servants to send over some food and beverages for Gavin from time to time. They would also call him often to enquire about his health and any extras that he needed. Their concern remained the same as before. However, Gavin was aware that they had distanced themselves from him.
Archer and Natalie were still very caring and polite towards him. They had done their best as the son and daughter-in-law of Gavin. On the other hand, there was no news from Valeria at all.
She neither called Gavin nor sent over some food to him ever since that incident happened. It was as if she had disappeared from Gavin’s world.
This was the price that he had to pay for being unreasonable and scolded Valeria that day. He regretted and wished that the incident did not happen at all. However, it was no use crying over spilled milk.
Gavin still remembered the moment when Hayden called and scolded him for treating Valeria so poorly. He was warned by Hayden to admit his mistakes and say sorry to Valeria. Otherwise, she would not back down and make a mend with Gavin.
He deeply regretted behaving so rashly that day. However, his ego was so high that he was unwilling to apologize to Valeria first.
He was much more senior than Valeria after all. Wasn’t it ridiculous for a grandfather to apologize to his granddaughter?
However, Valeria would continue to ignore him if he refused to make the first move. Should Gavin humble down and apologize then?
Gavin was feeling bothered by this matter. He was so lost in his thoughts that he was not aware that he had overwatered his plants. The water in the flowerpot eventually flowed out.
Both Oreo and Mocha were behind Gavin and had been staring at him for the whole time. They noticed Gavin still continued to water the plants when the flowerpot was clearly overflowed. They swiftly barked and meowed towards Gavin in hopes to alert him.
He came to his senses and sighed while putting down the watering can. He was done for the day and returned back to the living room. Arthur was coming down from the stairs and noticed the bothered look on Gavin’s face. He inquired, “Mr. Saunders, are you alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine.” Gavin sat down and took a sip of tea before asking, “Did we receive any call from Valeria?”
“Nope,” Arthur shook his head and asked, “Are you missing Valeria already? Do you want me to give her a call and ask what has she been up to?”
“Alright then,” Gavin agreed.
Arthur swiftly dialed Valeria’s contact number. The phone had been ringing for a long time but there was no answer.
“Valeria must be busy with something now. I shall call her once again later!”
“Is this an indication of her ignoring us seeing how she refuses to pick up our call?” Gavin mocked himself, “I just slightly raised my voice last time and I am still nevertheless her grandfather. Why would she go so far as to not answer our call?”
Arthur smiled and tried to calm him down, “Valeria must have felt very sad that day. You accused her of being interested in your wealth and fortune. I reckon that these words must have taken a toll on her.”
“Are you saying that the only way for her to forgive me is by apologizing to her?” Gavin questioned.
“Well… it’s not necessary, is it? What I meant was that Valeria must have needed more nourishment since she is currently pregnant. How about I send over some bird’s nest and truffles to her? She is a reasonable person and would let things go when she receives these supplements from you.”
“Alright then! You shall have the final say in this,” Gavin said.
