The two people who had attacked Braelynn fled from the International Trade Building and hurried back to report on the completion of their task. They were working under Gurmisran, who was Ornard’s trusted subordinate in the country. Gurmisran thought that the two of them would easily succeed, but he was very surprised when he heard that they had failed.
“You can’t even deal with a weak girl like her. You’ve been working for nothing all these years, haven’t you?”
“We underestimated the enemy and thought that it would be easy for us to deal with a little girl. We didn’t expect her to be so tough. She was good at martial arts and we failed to take her down.”
In order to prove that they had indeed hurt Braelynn, the two men took out the lost jade pendant to prove their efforts. “I planned to kill her at that time, but I didn’t expect that she would be so lucky to have this thing hanging on her neck. It blocked the knife for her and she escaped.”
Gurmisran took the jade pendant and glanced at it disapprovingly. His eyes suddenly had a sharp glint. “Are you sure that the jade pendant fell from the girl’s body?”
“That’s true!”
“Well, I know what to do. Since you have already alerted the enemy, it is not suitable for you to stay here. Take some money and escape for a period of time. Don’t come back here unless I tell you to do so.”
They thought that they would be punished, but they didn’t expect Gurmisran to let them go so easily. He even let him go on vacation instead of punishing them, so they left happily.
Gurmisran looked at the jade pendant over and over again with a magnifying glass, and looked at the back of the pendant carefully with a shocked look on his face.
After he put down the jade pendant, he picked up his cell phone and dialed a foreign phone number. Ornard had just fallen asleep when he received the phone call with some displeasure. “What’s the matter? Why are you calling me at this hour?”
Gurmisran said incoherently, “Mr. Laban, I found the jade pendant!”
“Huh? What jade pendant?” Ornard asked inexplicably.
“It’s… it’s the jade pendant of the Floyd family.”
“The Floyd family’s jade pendant? How did you find it? Are you kidding me?”
“It’s true. This jade pendant was stolen from Braelynn, whom Angel wanted to deal with. When I saw it, I felt that it was very familiar and I thought it was just a similar pattern. I just used the magnifying glass to analyse it carefully and I found the engravings of the Floyd family on the back of the jade pendant. This jade pendant indeed belongs to the Floyd family.”
“Why would it be in Braelynn’s possession?” Ornard was completely awake as something unexpected happened all of a sudden. “Wasn’t that jade pendant given to Emily as a token of engagement by Callum? Why would it be on the body of a little girl?”
“I can’t figure it out. Didn’t Emily lose her jade pendant? Why did it suddenly appear? Could it be… Could it be that Braelynn is Emily’s daughter?” Gurmisran asked tentatively.
“How is that possible? Didn’t you deal with the child? I remember that I told you to do it well, but you’re saying that the child may still be alive. Isn’t that a joke?”
“Boss, there’s something I haven’t told you. After I exchanged the children, I didn’t kill her personally as you said, but I left her in the wild. Was she picked up by another person? But what happened to the jade pendant? I remember that the child I threw away didn’t have a jade pendant at all.”
“B*stard! You f*cking… How did you answer me at that time? Didn’t you say that the child was dead? I asked you several times and you answered me so confidently. Now you’re f*cking suspecting that she is still alive. Do you usually do things covertly like this? If Braelynn is really the child from that time, I’ll be in deep trouble!” Ornard couldn’t help but scold Gurmisran angrily.
Gurmisran knew he was in the wrong, so he didn’t dare to argue and let Ornard curse at him for a while. Ornard also knew that cursing couldn’t change anything, so he had to find a way to cope with the aftermath.
“Go and check on Braelynn immediately and see what’s going on with her. If she is really that b*stard child, then immediately find ways to kill her at all costs!”
“Okay! I’ll arrange it right away!”
William asked Lamont to send Braelynn home to recover while he left with Valeria.
Valeria had been suspecting someone all along, but she did not dare to say it in front of Lamont and Braelynn. However, she said it out loud in front of William and Bobby.
“Darling, could it be that Angel did this? She’s extremely vicious and Braelynn humiliated her. She must be very jealous of Braelynn. According to her temper, she wouldn’t stand aside and do nothing. I’m pretty sure Angel wants to kill Braelynn. She will definitely not use her family’s bodyguards, so she hired someone else.”
William touched her head. “Why did you suddenly become so smart? Actually, I suspected that too!”
“What should we do now? Didn’t those two people escape? Without evidence, there is no way to testify against Angel.”

William frowned. Angel would definitely be protected by Deborah, and Fandrey’s attitude was unclear. The only person William could talk to about this was Callum.
He thought for a moment and ordered Bobby, “Let’s go to Wolf Group!”
Bobby immediately changed course while William called Callum. “Uncle, are you free now?”
“I am.”
“I’d like to treat you to a cup of coffee at the Wolf Group’s cafe.”
“Okay.” Callum knew that William would not spare time to treat him to coffee without a clear reason. William must have something to say, so Callum agreed immediately.
He stood up after hanging up William’s call. Fandrey looked up and glanced at Callum. “William called you? What is he trying to do?”
“He asked me to have coffee with him, but it sounds fake. I guess he wants to tell me something about Angel.”
Fandrey chuckled. “What’s there to talk about regarding Angel? Didn’t he only show up once and turn a blind eye to her? Is he trying to apologize to you by pretending to meet you all of a sudden?”
“I don’t know. I’ll know when I see him!” Callum knew that William would not apologize to him. If William felt guilty, he would not have such an attitude in the first place.
He had a feeling that William wanted to see him because of something else.
After Callum sat in the private room for five minutes, William arrived with Valeria.
Valeria addressed Callum sweetly as soon as she came in, and he smiled as well when he saw the smile on Valeria’s face. “Sit down! What do you want to drink?”
“Fruit juice.”
Callum ordered some fruit juice for Valeria and coffee for William. After that, William sat down and took a sip of coffee. “I have something to tell you. Braelynn was attacked today.”
“What?” Braelynn’s face flashed through Callum’s mind. His only impression of Braelynn was when she fought against Angel and quarrelled with Deborah. To be honest, Braelynn didn’t leave a good impression on Callum.
He didn’t have a good impression of her, but William took the initiative to mention her. Moreover, it was not a good thing. Callum had already faintly perceived the purpose behind this meeting and it could possibly have something to do with the Floyd family.
