Both of them were armed with lethal weapons and they attacked Braelynn from both sides with daggers.
The two men attacked Braelynn from different directions. One targeted her face while the other tried to attack her hand.
There was not enough space in the elevator, so it was not convenient for her to dodge her attacks. Braelynn ducked to dodge the dagger that was aiming at her face, but the other man lunged towards her wrist with a knife.
She subconsciously blocked it with her briefcase and the knife was lodged into it. Then, she immediately kicked the other man in the chest.
The other party didn’t expect Braelynn to be so fierce and he couldn’t avoid it in time. In the end, he was directly kicked in the chest.
Braelynn’s attacks were brutal and calculated. The other party felt a sharp pain in his chest and fell backward when he lost balance. However, he fell back onto the elevator walls for support. When he regained his footing, his subordinate tried to stab Braelynn again when she dodged the attacks.
Braelynn had no other way to retreat or use any weapons, so she threw the briefcase in her hand at the man’s wrist.
If it were an ordinary person, he would definitely let go after he was hit by her. However, the other party was a martial arts practitioner and he was still gripping his knife tightly.
Braelynn knew that she couldn’t continue to fight. For now, she would have a chance of survival only by rushing out of the elevator.
Fortunately, she repeatedly pressed the buttons to open the elevator doors when she felt that the odds weren’t in her favour. Then, the elevator stopped and the doors open. Braelynn immediately landed a hard punch on her assailants and rushed straight out.
When the man saw that Braelynn was about to escape, he quickly reached out to grab her.
Braelynn had rushed out, but the man grabbed her hair and pulled it back.
She couldn’t confront her attackers head-on at this moment, so she leaned back and landed a roundhouse kick directly on the man’s chest. Her opponent knew that she was good at fighting, but he did not expect that she could make use of the counterforce this way. He quickly let go of her hair and retreated to dodge, but he still took a chain kick from Braelynn.
The other man had the intention to kill Braelynn when he saw how fierce she was, so he gripped his dagger and lunged towards Braelynn’s throat.
Braelynn held the elevator wall to regain her balance after she landed the kick, so there was no way for her to avoid the dagger at all. At that moment, she could only watch as the tip of the knife rushed straight to her neck.
She was dead for sure!
Braelynn thought that the other party’s dagger had already reached her neck, which felt numb at that moment. However, she couldn’t see any blood or feel any pain. She then realized that the dagger was blocked by something on her chest.
The point of the blade couldn’t pierce through Braelynn’s skin, so she took the split-second opportunity to counterattack quickly. She quickly aimed for the other party’s eyes.
Her attacker reacted and quickly withdrew his knife. The tip of the knife sliced through Braelynn’s shirt and the chain of her jade pendant was also cut off.
The jade pendant made a crisp sound when it landed between the doors of the elevator. At that moment, the elevator doors that were closing sensed an object and immediately opened.
Braelynn desperately rushed out. One of the men was ready to follow her, but he was stopped by his subordinate.
The man picked up the jade pendant and closed the elevator door quickly. He pressed several numbers on the keypad and said hurriedly, “Stop chasing her! Let’s go!”
“But we didn’t complete our mission!”
“We can just report what happened.” The man took the jade pendant that Braelynn had dropped. “It proves that this woman is tough. We just made a miscalculation and failed to get her, we can still discuss it later.”
The elevator stopped on the tenth floor. Then, they quickly got out of the elevator and ran to the stairwell separately.
After escaping from the elevator, Braelynn rushed to the stairwell while calling for help. Then, Lamont came up from the stairs with his men when he heard Braelynn’s call for help.
“Braelynn!”
Braelynn felt relieved when she heard Lamont’s voice, “Dad, I’m here! Someone wants to hurt me!”
Lamont rushed over. “Braelynn! Are you okay?”
“I’m fine! I almost lost my life just now. Fortunately, the jade pendant blocked the knife attack, but I feel an ache on my neck!” Braelynn’s neck was scratched by the knife and she was bleeding.
“Hold on, I’ll take you to the hospital!” Lamont said as he quickly tore off a piece of cloth and pressed it against Braelynn’s wound. He quickly ordered the others, “Block the exit right away. You must find the assailants!”
Braelynn was helped out of the building by Lamont while he called William. “William, they did something to Braelynn.”
“When did it happen?” William was extremely surprised.
“Right now. Fortunately, Braelynn was lucky or else the consequences would be unimaginable! I will never let go of the person who attacked her!”
Lamont had a murderous glint in his eyes. Although Braelynn was not his own daughter, they had always depended on each other. She was the most important person to him and he would not allow anyone to hurt her like this.
William understood Lamont’s current mood. “Take Braelynn to the hospital first. I’ll call and ask about the situation.”
After hanging up, William immediately called Marcus. “Is there any news from the bodyguards of the Floyd family today?”
“Nothing!” Marcus replied.
“Are you sure?” William asked in disbelief, “Braelynn was attacked in the elevator of the International Trade Building. You have to confirm immediately that there was nothing abnormal about the bodyguards today!”
Marcus was also shocked when he heard this. “Please wait a moment, Mr. Howard. I’ll check it right away!”
Marcus called a few minutes later. “I asked my men and none of the bodyguards of the Floyd family went out!”
“If it’s not them, then who would do this to Braelynn?” William asked.
“I don’t know. Could it be that the Floyd family didn’t use their own men and asked someone else to do it?” Marcus guessed.
“Would they do that? That’s too vicious, isn’t it?” William’s expression turned ugly.
Braelynn had been caught in an unexpected disaster. If she hadn’t stood up for Valeria, she would not have provoked the Floyd family. If this incident was really done by the Floyds, William would have to send a clear message to them.
“This matter has to be investigated. If it was really done by the bodyguards of the Floyd family, they can’t blame me for being cruel! Continue to keep an eye on the Floyd family and see if they have any contact with others.”
After William gave the orders to Marcus, he got up in a hurry and walked out. When he reached the elevator door, he received a call from Valeria. “Honey, I heard that Braelynn was attacked. What the hell is going on?”
William said vaguely because he was afraid that Valeria would be worried, “I don’t know the details, so I’m rushing to the hospital now. I’ll tell you when I get there and find out the situation!”
“No, I’m worried about Braelynn. I have to go to the hospital to see her as well and I’m already out!” Valeria couldn’t wait any longer. After receiving the call, she hurriedly asked the bodyguards to take her to the hospital.
William understood her feelings and did not stop her. “Okay, you can go to the hospital since you’re already out. Ask them to drive slowly and we’ll meet at the hospital.”
