Chapter 855 Adaptability

William couldn’t help but shake his head. Hayden was better at defending Valeria than he was.
“My grandparents aren’t that bad, but they have their own worries in their hearts. In fact, if we give in to them, this matter will slowly pass. But after the ruckus all of you have caused, I am afraid that something will happen again.”
“There’s always a way out! What could they possibly do? We’ll see!” Hayden didn’t care.
“That’s true, but it’s best if we don’t fight each other. I feel that there’s something fishy about Angel’s suicide tonight because she doesn’t look like someone who would dare to do this. Someone must be trying to sow discord.”
“Isn’t she using suicide to gain sympathy? Of course, someone as vicious and shameless as her would do it.”
“Yes, but that’s exactly why I think she will never hurt herself. Someone must have given her advice.”
“Could it be Natasya? Or Azalea?” Valeria asked.
William shook his head. “Angel has always looked down on Natasya from the bottom of her heart. She would not tell Natasya such a shameful thing. Azalea is just a pawn that Angel can give up at any time. This implies that Azalea isn’t fit to give Angel any advice at all.”
Hayden interrupted, “There’s someone I think has the right to do so, Callum’s wife.”
“Her?” William frowned. “Would it be her?”
“Didn’t you say that your aunt likes Angel? Ordinary people would not like their husband’s illegitimate children unless they are extremely kind-hearted. But your aunt is not a good person, isn’t she?” Valeria also said.
“Not only that, but she’s a mole in the Floyd family as well. Did she deliberately injure Angel all these years? Was she trying to retaliate against my uncle’s misbehaviour?”
“Maybe it’s possible.” Hayden wasn’t too sure.
William was deep in thought. If Veronica was causing trouble, what would she do?
Meanwhile, Angel finally recovered after a night of rest in the ward. Deborah sat by the bed and fed Angel lovingly. “Slow down, be careful not to choke!”
Fandrey and Callum sat on the sofa and did not speak, but they looked at Angel with concern.
Angel felt happy when she saw how much they valued her. She knew that her fake suicide attempt had succeeded this time. If it had not been for the electric shock therapy, she could have put on a better act.
However, it didn’t matter. Fandrey, Deborah, Callum’s attitude towards her had already changed. He was extremely concerned and spoke to her gently. He never mentioned anything about her schemes against Valeria, which proved that she had gotten away with it.
It now depended on William’s attitude!
Since she was in such a bad situation, William would probably sympathize with her, right?
After all, it was Valeria who forced her to commit suicide. William would take the initiative to take action even if it was for the sake of fairness.
As long as William came over to show Angel some sympathy, she would take advantage of it.
She would never argue with Valeria publicly in the future, and she would even try to gain Valeria’s favour.
It would never be too late to take revenge. She could only successfully bring Valeria down by earning the latter’s trust. She would never leave any trace of evidence the next time she schemed against Valeria. Her goal was to make Valeria suffer from a miscarriage and leave the latter with nothing to her name!
The more Angel thought of this, the more she hoped that William would visit her. However, William was still nowhere to be found even though it was already 9 am.
Angel began to feel uneasy. Why didn’t William come to the hospital to see her?
Could William be suspicious?
However, it was impossible. None of her family members doubted her, so why would William suspect her?
Angel’s heart was in turmoil and Deborah was also waiting for William’s arrival.
Deborah also couldn’t take it anymore. She had to tell William in person that Valeria’s friends had insulted her. Besides, she would tell him all about Hayden’s hurtful words towards her and force him to take responsibility for it.
While she was thinking, she heard footsteps outside and they stopped at the door. Deborah looked up and thought it was William, but she didn’t expect it was Marcus and a bodyguard.
Marcus walked in with a smile on his face. “Good morning, Madam and Sir! Good morning, Ms. Floyd!”
After saying hello, he asked the bodyguard to put the things on the tea table and said, “Sir asked me to send this to Ms. Floyd to nourish her body.”
“Why didn’t William come?” Deborah frowned and asked.
“He must have things he had to deal with,” Marcus replied vaguely.
“What is he busy with?” Deborah asked unhappily.
“William has a lot of things to do. Not only does he have to deal with his business matters, but he also has to take care of his family as well. After all, his father is old and his wife is pregnant. Although it sounds easy, he really has a lot of things to worry about. It’s very rare for him to ask us to come over when he’s busy.”
Marcus’s words were clear and he was implying that William was busy. Since William had no time to spare, the Floyd family should stop asking for more.
Deborah was so angry when she heard this. “It’s just an excuse. Isn’t his father in good health? Valeria could drive herself to the market to buy vegetables even when she’s pregnant. Why do people like them need to be taken care of?”
Marcus smiled faintly. “I think William treasures his wife and the children in her belly very much. Other things aren’t that significant to him at all!”
His words were even more direct than before, so how could Deborah not understand what he was implying? She sneered and said, “Although his wife and children are important, he can’t ignore his family members, right? Angel is his cousin and such a big thing happened yesterday. Isn’t it ridiculous for him to not visit her?”
Marcus’ eyes became colder and the smile on his face faded away. Fandrey frowned and said, “Stop complaining. He has to take care of his business as well as his family, how can he spare time to come to the hospital?”
“I don’t believe that he can’t. After all, Angel is his cousin. When he was abroad, Angel went to see him every day, so why can’t he come to see her after what happened? Isn’t it all his wife’s fault that Angel became like this?”
When Deborah said that it was Valeria’s fault, the smile on Marcus’ face disappeared.
When he came to the city, William had said that he was polite to the Floyd family because they were courteous as well. However, there was no need to serve the Floyd family if they wanted to make trouble.
Marcus raised his wrist and glanced at his watch. “I’ve already done what William had instructed me to do and I have a meeting to attend. Sir, goodbye!”
After saying that, he did not wait for the Floyd family to speak before he left and the bodyguards immediately followed him.
