William thought that Hayden would scold him for not liking Thomas, so he immediately said, “Dad, I know what you want to say. Stop it, it’s no use saying it.”
“You know what I’m going to say? That’s impossible!” Hayden looked at him in surprise. He knew that William was a smart man, but there was no way he could predict what he was about to say.
William said bluntly, “Don’t you just want me to be a little more polite to Thomas? No way!”
“You brat, you’re spouting nonsense. That’s not what I wanted to talk about.” Hayden shook his head.
“Oh? Then what is it?”
“Well, I heard that Thomas went out with your grandparents today, right?”
“That’s right!”
“Do they like him very much?”
“Yes!” William nodded.
“William, Thomas is currently the manager for the Floyd family’s business within the country, and you should know that their assets here aren’t small, right?” Hayden asked again.
“I know, but he is just their manager. What do the Floyd family’s assets have to do with him?”
“It should have nothing to do with him, but your uncle, Callum, has always been the one to take care of the Floyd family’s business in Misurton, and he has never switched managers, so why did he put Thomas in charge?”
“Thomas worked in the Floyd family’s company in the United States, and he was entrusted with important tasks because he was outstanding enough.” William frowned, “Dad, what are you implying? Do you suspect that there is something behind Thomas’s power over the Floyd family?”
“Yes, I am indeed curious about this. Why did the Floyd family suddenly use Thomas, an outsider, to take over an important position?”
“Thomas is a very capable person, and you wouldn’t know of his capabilities since he’s always been abroad. The Floyd family must have gone through careful consideration to hire him for that position.”
“Is that so? Fine then, anyway, let’s get back to the topic.” Hayden changed the topic, “I discovered something strange when I went to see Thomas the other day. I realized that he looks very similar to Valeria’s grandfather when he was young.”
Thomas looked like Gavin when he was young? William was stunned for a moment since there should be no relationship between Thomas and Gavin, “But it’s not strange for people to look similar to each other.”
“Yes, it’s true that it shouldn’t be strange for Thomas to look similar to Valeria’s grandfather when he was younger, but there is one more thing. The Saunders family has strange hereditary genes. Both Gavin and Archer have a red mole on the back of their necks and so does Raymond. On the day I met Thomas, I looked at the back of his neck and found the same red mole that was in the exact same position as Gavin’s.”
“Maybe it’s just a coincidence?” William did not take it seriously.
“Yes, I also hope it’s a coincidence, but Valeria said that she likes Thomas and sees him like an elder brother. There’s something weird about this.”
William interrupted Hayden, “Dad, what are you trying to say? Thomas is from the Saunders family? Is he Gavin or my father-in-law’s child?”
“No, I’m not saying that he’s Gavin nor Archer’s son, but I just heard that the hereditary genes from the Saunders family only pass on to the males, and it’s been like this for a few generations already! Therefore, I was wondering if Thomas is related to the Saunders family.”
“This is too absurd. Since this is just an assumption, should I run a DNA test to check the relationship between Thomas and the Saunders family?”
Hayden nodded and said, “That’s what I meant. Why don’t you check it out?”
“For real? There’s no reason for it though. It’s not appropriate to run a test just because of a birthmark, right?” William was not too willing to do so.
“This is what I’m thinking, if Thomas is from the Saunders family, it should be possible to verify with a DNA test. Therefore, you should arrange for Gavin and Archer to do a DNA test with him, and if they do indeed have a relationship, you should ask them about it, but if there’s no relationship then you can just drop it.”
William smiled wryly, “Fine, I’ll arrange for someone to do it.”
After William agreed, Hayden asked about the two elders of the Floyd family, “Do they not have any intentions on meeting Valeria?”
“No, they didn’t mention anything at all, so I came back in a fit of anger.” William didn’t hide anything.
“They’re crossing the line!” Hayden’s expression turned sour, “It’s understandable that they’re against me, but how did Valeria provoke them? She’s your legal wife who’s also carrying your baby! No matter what, they should still meet her.”
William remained silent while Hayden thought for a moment and said, “Maybe they’re waiting for you to bring Valeria to see them?”
“I thought about it before, but I am afraid that they will embarrass my wife, and I don’t want her to be bullied.”
Hayden knew how much William favored Valeria, so he said, “William, I know what you mean, but they are still your elders no matter what. Since you and Valeria are juniors, you should take Valeria to see them first. If they don’t respect her, then you don’t need to respect them either.”
“Let’s talk about it later!” William did not give a solid answer.
William sent Bobby a message, “Find a way to get Thomas’s appraisal sample. I need to use it.”
After sending the message, he went over to Valeria while she was on the phone with Archer. When she saw him coming over, she said to the phone, “Dad, William’s here, you can talk to him yourself.”
Then, she handed the phone to William and said, “My dad is looking for you.”
He took over the phone and said, “Dad! You’re looking for me?”
“Yes, I have something to ask you. I was afraid that you were busy so I called Valeria first.”
“What is it?”
“Well, your grandparents are here, right? I heard that you accompanied them alone, and Valeria stayed at home. You did this for a reason, right?”
“There’s no reason. I just don’t want to see her suffer. After all, she is pregnant.”
“William, tell me the truth. Do your grandparents not like Valeria because of your mother’s affairs?”
“No,” William denied.
“I have discussed with your mother-in-law. If that’s the reason, your mother-in-law and I will go to see your grandparents and explain everything clearly. We’ll apologize for our wrongdoings, and we don’t want our problems to affect your life.”
Since Archer had already made it clear, William gave in, “You guys should wait for a while before doing that. I’ll find a chance to bring Valeria to them and see what’s going on.”
William hung up and looked at the time. It was already five o’clock in the evening, so he called Marcus to arrange dinner with the Floyd family.
After hanging up the phone, Callum called him and said, “William, we are going back to the hotel. Are you coming over at night?”
“Yes!” William answered briefly.
“How’s your wife doing? Why don’t you bring her here tonight? I have a gift for you two!”
William was surprised by his sudden invitation to meet Valeria, and he immediately agreed. “My wife is much better now, and I’ll bring her here tonight since you want to see her.”
