Chapter 709 Protective Parents

Valeria glanced at William and she knew how he must have felt throughout these years.
“She would have loved to spend more time with you and watch you eventually grow up and have your own family. However, she had no choice.”
“Yes, you’re right.” He reached out and took out all the photos and continued, “I used to hate her but my feelings have now changed.”
He glanced through the photos of Matilda and said, “I finally understand why my grandparents hate my father so much. If… If my daughter was taken away by a widow and eventually passed away because of him, I would definitely go bonkers! I would not have allowed such a thing to happen no matter how good the man is.”
It was said that parents would always be protective of their children. Valeria knew that different opinions arose due to different viewpoints, and Hayden would forever be the guilty one in the eyes of Fandrey and Deborah.
The couple flipped through the photos and realized there was a final photo at the bottom of the box. It was a picture that consisted of Matilda, Callum, and an unknown woman. The three of them were smiling cheerfully and it was seen that the woman was holding hands with Matilda. William locked his gaze on the woman and frowned as he was feeling confused.
Valeria glanced at the photo and asked, “Is the man in the picture your uncle? He looks quite similar to your mother.”
William nodded and Valeria asked again, “Who is this woman? She looks… a bit like me.”
William was thinking the same thing and said, “Yes, I feel the same way too. The both of you have quite a similar look.”
Valeria had a perplexed look on her face and said, “Is there really someone who looks like me when we are not in any way related? People might think that we are somehow connected, right?”
William nodded in agreement and said, “It does seem so.”
“Why don’t we ask your father about her? He would have known her, right?”
“It’s fine, as I think I know who she is.”
“You could even come up with a guess? Who is it then?” Valeria asked.
“I reckon that this woman is Emily,” William frowned and replied. He assumed so because the woman seemed close to Matilda and was in a picture with Callum as well.
However, he did not expect Emily to look like Valeria. How could that be possible?
Maybe William had guessed it wrongly? He then decided to ask Hayden about it and his wish was instantly granted.
Hayden finally returned to the study room and had calmed himself down. William then showed him the picture and asked, “Dad, do you happen to know the woman in this picture?”
“Yes, I know. This woman is Emily.”
William had guessed it right and Hayden knew what was going through in the minds of the couple. He then said, “Emily does look a bit similar to Valeria.”
“Yes, I realized it too. How is that possible?”
“There are many people who share the same face as this is a big world that we live in,” Hayden replied casually.
William did not comment further as Hayden was not concerned about it at all. However, William also realized that Emily’s eyes were similar to Archer’s.
This was a strange sight. Could it be that Emily was from the Saunders family?
Could she be Gavin’s illegitimate daughter? William found it absurd as how would Gavin had no idea about it if that was the truth?
Abbie had arrived at Climax Space with a casual outfit. She parked her car and hurriedly made her way to the entrance. Her phone suddenly rang and it was from Michael, “Are you here yet?”
“I’m almost at the entrance! Stop rushing me!”
They then ended the call and Abbie kept her phone away while bolting to the hallway. There was a strong perfume smell lingering around her when she reached the doorway of the elevator. She let out a sneeze and turned around. Azalea tucked her head out as she had concealed herself with sunglasses and a mask.
Azalea smiled and greeted her, “Abbie, are you here to hang out as well?”
“Stop stating the obvious!” Abbie snorted.
Azalea ignored her attitude and asked, “I saw Michael’s car just now. Did you ask him out?”
“Who told you that?” Abbie glared at her and said, “I’m warning you to stop spewing bullshit in attempting to ruin my reputation. You would get me in trouble if brother,  mom, and dad know about this, okay?”
“They would have no idea about it.” Azalea had an awkward smile on her face and said,  “Abbie, I don’t have any nasty intentions towards Michael and I have always treated him as my brother.”
“Why did you take off your clothes to seduce him instead of someone else then?” Abbie sneered and asked.
“Erm… I was suddenly ill, okay? I did not mean it and you need not worry as I will make an effort to call the marriage off with him.” Azalea promised.
“You’ve made promises for at least a hundred times, haven’t you? What’s the point of not taking any action about it?” Abbie mockingly laughed.
“That’s… that’s because my career is not going well, okay? Could you please put in a few good words for me to Valeria and get me out from the blacklist of Saunders Enterprise? I have been jobless for months and I’ll be bored to death real soon!”
Abbie scoffed and said, “Have you got things mixed up? It was the senior management who had decided to cut you off. What does this have to do with Valeria and what’s the point of asking her for help when she is not in charge of the business of Saunders Enterprise?”
“It would do me good if she helps me to pull some strings as she is the eldest daughter of the Saunders family.”
“Haha!” Abbie scoffed at her and marched into the elevator.
Azalea was pissed off as her request was not being fulfilled. She had not been having any projects for a long time and she would be as good as dead if this situation persisted.
Azalea glared at the doorway of the elevator while fuming in anger. She had tailgated Michael here and he must have come here to see Abbie.
She could not get through Abbie’s number as she had been blocked. Hence, she decided to come here and thought that Abbie would have a big heart to lend her a helping hand but to no avail.
I have to think of something else, Azalea thought to herself. Suddenly, someone patted her on the shoulder.
Azalea was startled and turned around abruptly. There was someone standing behind her who also concealed herself just like Azalea.
“Erm… who are you?” Azalea was taken aback and did not recognize the concealed person.
“Miss Clark, have you forgotten about me?”
“Miss… Miss Anderson?” Azalea asked upon hearing her voice.
“This is not a good place to talk. Let’s head to a quiet place instead!” Natasya said and turned around while Azalea hesitated for a moment before following her.
