Abbie left after sending Valeria back to Wolf Group. The fragrance of delicious food had teased her nose as soon as Valeria entered the presidential suite.
William sat on the sofa in the living room while making a phone call with a helpless expression on his face. “No, she was not alone. I have ordered the bodyguards to follow along.”
“No, that’s not the way to do things!” Hayden was on the other end and snapped, “You b*stard, let her do things freely if she is not pregnant. How could you still act indifferently now that she is expecting? What should we do if something happens to her?”
“Don’t worry, it won’t happen!”
“It’s always wise to play safe! Move back in this instance if you can’t take good care of her. I’ll arrange for someone to look after her instead.”
“I can do a good job! You do not have to worry!” He immediately told Hayden upon seeing Valeria, “Valeria is back. Talk to you soon. Goodbye.”
William then threw his phone aside and stood up with a smile, “Milady, you’re finally back. Dinner is already prepared for you.”
“Who was on the phone just now?” Valeria asked curiously.
“Dad called and questioned why I agreed to let you go out by yourself.”
“How did he know?” Valeria asked.
“I have no idea, but I got an earful from him.” William had a pity look on his face and continued, “Honey, you have to comfort me.”
“I’ll give you a peck.” Valeria kissed him while his gaze fell on her hand, “What’s wrong with your hand?”
“Erm… erm… it’s nothing, don’t worry about it.”
William grabbed her hand and took a closer look. “Did you get into trouble and hurt your hand?”
“I have not gotten myself into trouble, but it was the exact opposite. I don’t intend to spill the beans now.”
William secretly grinned as he knew that she was busy preparing a birthday present for him. He decided to go with the flow and not expose her, “Let us have dinner together.”
Valeria was really hungry after a busy afternoon and had a good appetite.
He was worried that she would feel bloated after a heavy dinner and offered to have a stroll with her. However, he was taken aback as she refused to leave the house.
“I’m tired and don’t intend to move around. I want to have a rest!”
“Why did you tire yourself out?”
“I’m not going to tell you and I just want to sit back and relax. Why don’t you give me a massage instead?”
“Your wish is granted,” William agreed without hesitation.
Valeria was lying on the sofa in the bedroom while he gently gave her a massage. She was so exhausted that she eventually fell asleep.
William shook his head and covered her with a blanket before closing the door and going out.
Bobby suddenly pushed the door open and came in. William put his hand on his lips and made a gesture of silence to him.
Bobby naturally tip-toed and moved around quietly. William signaled him to head over to the study room. He then shut the door and asked, “What did Valeria do today?”
“She has been busy drawing for the entire afternoon, and she successfully completed twenty-eight pictures of you.” Bobby continued obediently, “The store said that she was going to make a photo album for you.”
“What a foolish and naive woman she is,” William was out of words.
It was now explainable why her hands were sore and were extremely tired. It would take a greater toll on her compared to others as she was currently expecting.
His wife was so foolish! She is such a silly little woman! She was so naive that it was impossible for him to not like her!
Bobby realized that William had a gentle smile on his face and continued, “The staff at the store was praising Valeria’s drawing skill. They thought that she was a professional artist!”
William chuckled and replied, “She has hidden her talent relatively well. I only knew about it today!”
Bobby brushed his head and said, “Valeria is very kind to you. I used to think that she was gentle and considerate that made her seem weak and vulnerable. She has no talent apart from having a beautiful face and was not good enough to be your wife. However, I have now changed my mind as she is actually much better than I thought.”
William was surprised by his honesty, “You were not a fan of her? Why didn’t I know it at all?”
“I didn’t dare to express my opinion as I’m afraid that you will be upset,” Bobby said awkwardly.
William’s expression turned serious as he replied, “You did the right thing for keeping your mouth shut during the past. If you had dared to voice out back then, you would definitely have received an earful by me!”
Bobby chuckled stiffly a few times and Marcus’ call suddenly came in. “Mr. Howard, I arranged for someone to drug Declan’s lawyer. There was nothing bizarre that he brought along as a lawyer, such as documents, notebook, recording pen, and many more.”
“Really? Is there anything out of the blue?” William asked.
“No, there is not. Mr. Howard, I’ve also seen the records on his phone and he is intending to visit Declan tomorrow.”
“Is that so?” William thought for a moment before he continued, “Open up the recording pen and see if there’s anything in it.”
Marcus immediately opened it as per William’s instructions. He had initially thought that the recording pen was empty, but there was surprisingly something in it.
Raelyn’s voice emerged, “Declan, your brother and I are not able to visit you and can only entrust the lawyer as our representative to meet you. You can tell the lawyer should you have any requests and we will do whatever we can to satisfy you.”
Raelyn sounded ordinary and Devon’s voice emerged as soon as she had finished speaking.
“Brother, I am sorry for you as I have no way to help you out and have let you suffered through hardship. I know that whatever I say is of no use, but I would still hope that you are taking good care of yourself! We are all missing you dearly!”
“Don’t worry as everything is well here. Natasya and Talitha have always been talking about you, especially Talitha. She always wanted to see you and has been reminiscing the days where you bought stuff for her and treating her well. By the way, she has a boyfriend named Hardy and you should him as well. She’s currently pregnant and he has already publicly announced their relationship. Raelyn and I are going to prepare for their marriage and the wedding would be held soon if everything goes smoothly.”
“George, we are still trying to come up with ideas to help you out. We will spare no efforts in assisting you if you are able to get a reduction of your penalty. You shall just sit back and wait patiently! The weather has recently turned cold and I have notified the lawyer to bring you a blanket. There is nothing more that I could give you as food and drinks are not allowed. By the way, the blanket was personally chosen and bought by your sister-in-law.”
Declan’s words sounded typical like how an elder brother would remind his younger brother and there was nothing that seemed extraordinary.
William squinted his eyes and pondered for a moment before asking, “Has the weather turned cold now?”
“Not really. The temperature is usually at twenty degrees and I don’t think it’s freezing at all,” Marcus replied.
“Is there anything else apart from a blanket? Maybe some food or medication?” William asked.
“I reckon that visitors who head to the detention center are not allowed to bring any food and medication with them,” Marcus replied.
“Declan would be faced with a greater restriction as he is a criminal with a death penalty under his belt.”
“I just feel that something fishy is going on for Raelyn to abandon her sick daughter just to meet up with the lawyer. Didn’t Devon claimed that he didn’t meet his lawyer? If that is the case, the content of the recording pen should have been recorded in advance, shouldn’t it?” William thought for a moment.
“There’s definitely something off as they intend to give him a blanket despite the warm weather and specifically indicated that it was bought by Raelyn. The most important thing is that they mentioned Talitha and it overall sounded like a farewell. Is the blanket mentioned by Devon there? Have a good look at the blanket again!”
