The DNA results came out at noon three days later. After seeing the result, Marcus was silent for a long time.
It was already the sixth day since William’s disappearance. Still, they had not found any new information about him. Richard, Archer, and the others had already accepted the truth of his death.
But Valeria didn’t believe it. She wouldn’t give up until she saw his body.
Marcus didn’t know what to do as she had been waiting in the van by the river all this time and refused to leave.
He didn’t dare to bring the bad news to her. To tell the truth, Marcus didn’t want to believe the bad news himself.
He looked for Richard, Archer, and Michael for a discussion.
Everyone smoked silently. After a while, Archer said, “Well, let’s not tell Valeria about it for now so that she can have some hope.”
“If we don’t tell her, she will continue to wait there. Are we going to just watch her do that? Have you seen her look? How long can she last for? Aren’t you afraid that something will happen to her?” Richard asked.
“But after telling her, I am afraid that it’ll be too much for her. Her current state…” Archer sighed.
“Let’s tell her! If she knows the result, then she won’t be so persistent anymore,” Marcus said, “Otherwise, she will continue to hold on to hope. The more disappointed she is, the more depressed she will be.”
The result of their discussion was that they couldn’t let Valeria continue to be like this. They had to tell her the truth.
However, they couldn’t decide on a person to tell her. Richard, Michael, and Marcus did not dare to tell her about the bad news.
Archer was silent for a moment and said, “I’ll go!”
“Are you sure?” Richard asked, “Although you are Valeria’s biological father, you are not so important to her yet. She may not listen to what you say.”
“Then who do you think you should tell? Natalie?” the only person he could think of was Natalie.
“Let Abbie tell her. They grew up together and are as close as sisters. They talk about anything. Maybe Valeria will listen to her.”
After discussing for a bit, they had no choice but to look for Abbie.
Abbie couldn’t refuse their request. Valeria had been in a poor state these past few days, and she was becoming too skinny. If she continued to stand guard by the riverside, no one knew what would happen to her.
Abbie strode towards Valeria with heavy steps. She was sitting in the car with her phone in hand as she stared at her photos of William in a daze.
Abbie got in the car and sat next to her, but she didn’t have any reaction. She reached out and took away Valeria’s mobile phone, “Valeria! I have something to say to you.”
“Did they find my husband?”
“No! Valeria, the DNA test results came out. They’ve confirmed that it’s William.”
Valeria looked at her in a daze and remained silent. Abbie held her hand and said, “Valeria, are you listening to me?”
She nodded and said, “I see!”
“Let’s go back. Your body can’t bear it anymore. Let’s go back and have a rest. They will deal with William’s…”
“I know! Abbie, I want to be alone!”
“I’ll stay with you!” she refused to leave.
“I want to be alone! Let me be alone!” tears trickled down her face.
Abbie reached out to hug her but was pushed aside, “I really want to be alone! Please!”
Valeria wasn’t hysterical, nor did she do anything crazy, but Abbie didn’t know if she should be relieved or not.
She got out of the car and shook her head at Richard and the others, “She wants to be alone for a while.”
Richard’s and the others’ faces fell. If Valeria could vent out her emotions, they could rest assured. But now, there was no way for them to be relieved.
All of them were at a loss of what to do, and they did not know how to comfort her.
The death of a loved one was the most tragic thing in the world. They, as friends and families, could all empathize with it, not to mention Valeria, who was so deeply in love with William.
Valeria sat in the car in a daze while crying silently. She didn’t know what else she could do.
William was gone. Her heart and soul were gone.
He was like this because of her. She was the chief culprit.
She wished that she was the one who was dead.
Was it impossible for William, who was so gentle, sharp, cute, and handsome, to come back?
She would rather it be a dream. Everything would return to reality as long as she woke up.
Valeria put her finger in her mouth and bit it hard. It was very painful, but it was nothing compared to the pain in her heart.
Right now, she felt as if it was better to die than to live. The suffocating despair gnawed at her heart. She had difficulty breathing and collapsed on the chair.
In the City Hospital, Natasya fell asleep in the car after waiting for a night in the ward.
A luxurious black car stopped beside her. A serious-looking man got out of the car, followed by a man with a briefcase who looked like an assistant. Behind the assistant was a beautiful, slender, and tall lady.
The beautiful woman quickly held the hand of the serious man, and the three of them went straight into the hospital together.
Sammuel’s cell phone rang in the ward. After he answered the phone, his face was filled with joy and his tone was very respectful, “Hello, Mr. Floyd! I’ll come out to welcome you right now.”
He quickly walked out of the ward and went straight to the elevator. When the elevator door opened, he immediately greeted the serious-looking man with respect, “Hello, Mr. Floyd!”
Callum Floyd asked in a very indifferent tone, “How is his situation now?”
“He’s still unconscious!”
He frowned, “It’s already been a few days, why is he still in a coma? What did the doctors say?”
“They said that he had a slight concussion. Maybe that’s why he’s in a coma. They’re trying to find a way,” Sammuel answered immediately.
As they were talking, they entered the ward and saw William with his eyes closed on the hospital bed. Calllum walked over and touched his hand with a sigh. “If it doesn’t get better, we can send him abroad for treatment with a private plane.”
Angel Floyd, Callum’s daughter, walked to the bedside and looked at William, “Dad, he is my cousin? God, isn’t he the Howard family’s airhead, William?”
“Shut up!” he scolded her with a dark expression. She stuck out her tongue and covered her mouth, “He is really good-looking. I saw him at his school before. At that time, I wanted him to be my boyfriend.”
After saying that, she reached out to shake his hand. “Cousin! Wake up! My dad and I are here to see you.”
“Angel, don’t create any more troubles!” Callum stopped her.
“I’m not. Dad, look, he opened his eyes!”
